I don't know why I went straight to the library. My feet started in that direction before I even registered what I was doing. I should have headed in any other direction.
When I finally allowed myself to stop, I slumped against the cool brick wall of the library. My heart raced so hard I was sure it was visible. What was I doing?
There was something in Jude's eyes that told me he would have carried me out of that house over his shoulder if he needed to. It pulled at that guilt that made me want to make sure I didn't let him down. It pulled my feet to obey.
