New Friends

Clare trudged her sleepy self down to the main hall. Rick was walking ahead of her and she deliberately hung back not wanting any drama at the start of her day. Last night, against her better judgement, she stayed awake late into the night reading an interesting e-book. She finally finished the book sometime around three a.m. As she reluctantly walked into the orientation hall, she could basically hear her bed singing her name like a siren. Hunter, that lucky non-lupine being! He must be ecstatic to have the bed all to himself. The chairs in the hall were arranged in rows of four. The first three rows were to be taken by the contestants' supervisors. The next six were to be taken by the contestants themselves. Clare forced herself to sit at the fourth row so she would be more inclined to stay awake. She was the only one on the row as the other teenagers preferred to get a seat at the back. Stifling a tired yawn, Clare sat down in her seat and took out her phone to play a game while they waited to wake herself up fully. She looked up for a second while the seats had been filled up. Besides her to her right was a girl in short cropped hair that she dyed a neon green who was busy texting while chewing aggressively on a piece of gum. To the right of that girl were a blond guy and a raven haired girl who were having a hushed discussion amongst themselves. Clare put her phone back in her pocket as soon as a lady took to the stage. The actual orientation was actually just for two hours only. Where they were given a run down of the tournament events including the do's and don'ts. Including a rundown of the facilities accessible to them and the safety rules for when they left the property. They had spent the first hour jogging around the fenced piece of land. The last hour was to get to know each other. Clare bobbed her head to the music that was being played from a surround sound system since she wasn't really a social butterfly and the people around her did not seem to be in the mood to be acquainted with her. Fortunately, a social butterfly did fly her way. And by fly, Clare meant fly. The boy basically threw himself into her row. "Hey, what are you doing guys?" He said by the way of greeting to no one in particular. Clare waited to see if Neon beside her would answer him, since maybe they were from the same pack, but the other girl continued typing away on her phone effectively ignoring him. "Okay?..." The guy turned to Clare and mouthed. "Ouch!" making her giggle. "Hi, I'm Clare Adam-Baros." He gave her a wide smile "Nice to meet ya Clare, I'm Neil." She took his hand and shook it. "What pack are you from?" The guy asked. "I'm from Red Moon pack by the way." "Wood Winders Pack." "Let me guess, you are a beta, like me?" Clare shook her head. "I'm an Alpha actually." Neil's eyebrows flew into his bangs. "Whoa, Alpha female. So is Gabby. She is gonna love you." He began to pull her along when he paused and glanced at Neon. "She with you?" Clare shook her head, letting him pull her along to go meet his friend. "I don't even know her." By the time they were released, Clare had made two new friends and she had a good time. They exchanged room and phone numbers and promised to meet downstairs for lunch by 1 p.m. before going their separate ways. Clare walked into the empty room and called out Hunter's name but received no answer. She figured he must already be down for his brunch. She quickly began to strip out of her sweaty clothes on the way to the bathroom feeling grossed out already from wearing them all morning after a jogging session. She got into the shower with no accidents and turned it on. She reached for the soap and gave herself a quick wash. When she was done, she turned the shower off and wrapped herself in the towel, when the curtains about the bathtub opened. Hunter Pyrros with headphones around his neck stepped into the shower, naked as the day he was born. Her eyes landed his naked toned Abs first. A freaking eight pack!Clare internally screamed to her self.... and that chest though. Hunter was startled to see her. He didn't hear her come in with the headphones on. He whirled and scrambled back for the tub. He was almost in when he slipped and banged his head against a wall making him groan, colourful words flying off his mouth in rapid succession. Clare finally realized that she had been staring, she shrieked like she should have in the beginning and ran to the bedroom like the furies were on her heels. "Oh my God, I thought you had left." She cried as she was leaving. Oh God, this was embarrassing!! She would never live this one down.
