Someone indeed cleaned up her former laboratory. When compared to her previous visit, this one went quite well. As necessary, organs, animals, and even embryos are exchanged for new jars. Unfortunately, her more disordered desk had no papers. However, she is still hoping that the outcomes of her prior experiment are still contained within her laboratory.
It would be useless if someone had stolen it and used it for themselves. But, unfortunately, some experts like to steal other efforts for their reputation. This type was the hateful one.
Barbara bites inside her cheek until it bleeds. The sudden pain stabbed through her neck- again. She could smell the burn of her flesh. She tried to ignore it. But, he refused to leave her alone. Her fangs came out, and her eyes glittered in hatred. "Ahh, my bad"
River sat on the chair and was facing her back. A small remote control connected to the collar on her neck was in his hand. It was fabricated to punish rebel subjects, forcing the test subjects to submit to them. Barbara never gets one of those things until she agrees with their stupid agreement. So now, she will be tortured for every second by him. Barbara let out a breath. She tried to control herself from ripping his head. He's a sadist bastard, finding pleasure in tormenting her endlessly and maliciously.
Initially, she was confused as to why they had spared her execution. They hadn't tried to explain or attempt to reason with her. Instead, they had treated her like an animal from the beginning of her new life as a monster. In their eyes, she was just a dangerous animal with no reasoning skills. It had become abundantly clear that it was her knowledge they were after, and it hadn't taken much of a leap to figure out that whatever they had in mind to do with it, it wasn't something she would like. They couldn't have reasoned with her. The fact that they'd tortured her alone was enough to preclude any interest she might have had in cooperating with them. But she needs this.
Regardless, she had endured more than mere detached, clinical study. That would have been more uncomfortable enough, probably painful, but her treatment had gone well beyond that- and there had been no doubt in her mind that the ex-fiancé she knew only as the cold asshole was behind it. There was malice in Rive's eyes whenever she saw him. He was triggered whenever she was on all sides and more aroused when he had mind-f****d her or inflicted pain. The more she resisted his attempts to f**k him, the more she endured repercussions. Finally, feeling dissatisfied, Barbara glances over her shoulder with hatred, "Why are you doing this?"
"Hmmn?" He hummed and looked up at her with mischief. She turned to him with determination. "You know this is against the law, River. You cannot play like a god. It's not you-"
River slammed his hand on the desk. His face was red with anger. "I'll be god! Not even you- a mere hybrid can stop me."
"How can you be so sure of that, River?" She asked, trying to make him hesitate. "Anyone may make a blunder, no matter how bright they are. Think-"
Barbara took his hands in her small ones. "Many innocent people will be affected. You can still make the right choice, River."
River was calm for a while. The softness in his eyes made her think he had finally believed her words. But then, he grinded his teeth, squeezing his eyes tightly as a sudden emotion went through him. Mindless, driven purely by instinct, he reached for her. His fingers wrapped around her hair and pulled it until she yelped. The pain made her fall onto his feet. She tries to pull away but fails as he tightens his grip. His eyes changed from softness to hatred. "It's easy to say. You're not the one who suffered from cancer. You're not the one who's fighting for life, Barbara. You're immortal! What else do you want besides youthfulness?"
He pulled her up by her hair and grabbed her breast. "You wrinkled like an old lady if it's not because of me! This body of yours-"
He slipped his arm around her, plastering her body against his. A growl escaped her despite all she could do as he pressed his hips rhythmically against her so that he could feel the moist heat of her cleft teasing his c**k. But Barbara wasn't wet with desire in the place; she was disgusted. She held her breath. She has struggled with her beast. "Get your dirty hands off me! You f*****g disgusting old man!"
River let out a bark of laughter and threw her onto the floor. He reached for the remote control and pushed the red button. For an instant, a pain shot through her flesh. She let out a cry and tried to take off the collar, but it was useless. "I'm going to kill you!"
He smiles wickedly at her, "I'm waiting."
She let out a roar of fury but stood on the floor. She could smell her burning flesh. A guard and a man entered the lab's door before she could do any stupid action. She ignored them and focused on her breath.
"Sir, your present is needed in the Termination Room," said the young man in a white coat. His almond-shaped eyes looked at River with respect. River makes a harsh sigh and walks out of the lab without looking at her. Barbara was glad to be alone. Her body trembled slightly from the man's touch. "Are you alright?"
Barbara tensed when the young man stood before her. She didn't notice the man until his voice reached her ears. She was tired. It took two days to wear her out completely. All she could think was Lycus. She was dying to know if he was alright. Her body was obsessed with him. It's carved him like a drug. Only with him can she feel safe. She stands up with trembling legs. "What are you doing here, Jorlan?"
He runs his fingers through his hair. "I have been working here for six months, professor. I wanted to work with you, but then I heard the rumors-"
He hesitated. "-That you had done something very terrible. But, I always trust you, professor. You're a very nice and rational person. There's no way you will do something wicked."
Barbara uttered a long, drawn-out sigh laden with false sorrow. "You shouldn't be here. What will your mother think if something bad happens to you? I can't help you."
"My mother died, Prof. It's been six years, and I have long graduated from University." He exclaimed. In the next instant, his features were unreadable. "You had been gone for twelve years. We are well-informed that you died in a terrible car crash.
"What? I can't drive!" She snorted, "It's better to offer no excuse than a bad one."
"But as you can see...I'm no longer your kind". Glittered cat eyes stared at him. The abnormal iris makes the young man nervous yet awe at the same time. He nods. "You're an amazing hybrid!"
Such an easy reply disappointed her. On some level, perhaps, she'd hoped he would spurt an insult or something unpleasant. In that scenario, she wouldn't be so optimistic. Instead, his expression still unreadable, he eased to the table. He didn't come to her. No, he stood there while examining her work. "You're a genius, prof. You have to be respected and treated much better than that. I have always adored your work, and you're why I'm here today."
He paused, then turned to her, "I can help you, Prof. Anything"
He looked at her as if he expected her to seek his help. Perhaps, asking him to help her escape from this place. But, Barbara only stood there with an unreadable expression. Although her heart raced at the thought, her toes curled, and her nervousness increased. A minute ticked by, then another. And another. Finally, as if losing hope, she gave a slight shake of her head, sending several strands of hair over her cheeks.
"No." then she added, "There's nothing you can help without risking yourself."
His brow puckered in stubbornness. "But-"
"I need to rest before continuing my work. Exhausted wouldn't help me." She quickly said. Jorlan nodded. He let go of their conversation and walked to the door. "I'll walk you to the women's quarters."
"No need for that. I'll go to the cell" The words escaped in a breathless sigh. His eyes glinted with emotion she couldn't name, but Barbara knew he would disagree with her. "But that place-"
"Is the safest place for me" Her fingers bit into her palms until they drew blood. In an instant, his eyes gazed at her bleeding palm. Then, without so much as uttering words, he nods and walks toward the cells. They walked in silence. Nobody appeared to be in the mood for conversation. Perhaps it was because of her unreasonable decision. She was confined in the cell for years, and it was the only place that guarded her until now.
"I'll meet you tomorrow after my work has been completed." He said as soon as they arrived at their destination. He gave her an assuring smile, "Don't worry. River will be too busy to disturb you tomorrow."
Barbara nods at him and waits until the guard opens the door. Her shoulders sagged when she glanced at him over her shoulder. "I meant it, Jorlan."
He drew a long, deep breath. "As you wish, professor."
She watched him walk away before stepping into the room and walking until she stood nearer the locked cell. She sucked in a breath when those piercing calcite eyes stared back at her. She didn't dare to move, afraid the predator would eat at her. She'd seen animals killed by predators. She'd lived through an attack; saw the others slaughtered before her. But, the way he looked at her was none of the promises that would harm her. No. He is about to devour her.
A buzz swept over her, not simply over her, but into her. She gaped, her inhalation of air drawing more of this queer presence inside her. It was too much, almost suffocating. Barbara swayed, lightheaded. "Ohh...God"
She whispered. Barely believe that she felt much safer and glad to see him again. She is very alive, yet the thunder in his eyes tells a different story. He was an impatient man. The type that will kill anyone who threatens him or even makes him annoyed. This time, she was the one to be blamed for his sudden change of mood, even though she didn't know what she had done to make this predator awake with a lot of adrenaline. After counting to three, she encouraged herself to open her eyes and wished she hadn't. He stood before her, closer than she preferred. She couldn't help but curse. Stupid, giant-bodied, very healthy, super healing, well-endowed...Oh, don't think about his endowment!
It was hard to forget since she'd felt it press against her like a seductive hard lollipop. Focus! Her body would have liked to rub more against him, and her lips yearned for another taste, but she couldn't do that. Not even a little bit lick and bit-
"Ophmnn!" She yelped when he suddenly kissed her.
Right then, molded against his muscular chest, with his tongue tangled around hers, she trusted that small clear voice in the back of her mind that told her not to be worried. No point in her life had she wanted anything, so there had never been anything she'd wanted. She wanted Lycus, but their future wasn't clear. She didn't want to take any risks. Barbara placed her palm against his broad chest and pushed him. The wild beast held her tighter to him, pushing his tongue into her mouth again, and devoured every part until she couldn't breathe.
During the past few days, she'd struggled with how to broach the subject. She didn't want to assume that he subscribed to the animal instincts of mating. Lycus cared for her. That makes it more challenging for him to support her plan. Not that he has the choice to disagree with her. In fact, what kind of subject doesn't want to escape this horrible place? She just hoped she wasn't setting herself up for disappointment. Barbara looked down at his bare chest with conflict. Again, she has this annoying little feeling of hers—something about letting him go.
"What's bothering you, little doctor?" Lifting his head, Lycus tightly held her jaw and tilted her face up. "Look at me."
