Avalon's POV:
Saturday
Today, I'm heading to the carnival with Bryce. The first week of school went well, despite a few hiccups with Elle.
We won our game on Wednesday, and Bryce's parents, along with his sister Abby, who is really nice, came to watch. She and Bryce have grown close.
"What are your plans for today?" Dad asks. "I have to go to the office to finish a case."
"I'm going to the carnival with my friend and his sister," I reply.
"Jesse?"
I shake my head.
"Is it Bryce King? He's been dropping you off lately. What happened to Jesse?"
"He has a girlfriend, Dad," Avery interjects.
"I see," Dad frowns. "I thought you liked him."
"He didn't see me that way, and he was in love with someone else. I didn't want to risk our friendship."
"You won't know unless you try," he shrug
