TELEPHONE CALLS
A week after the funeral, Daniela took Kim’s yoga class. Balancing on one leg, she raised her arms straight out from her chest, then pointed her hands upwards in a tree position. Her right foot leaned into her opposite leg in a triangular position while she took slow, calming breaths. She almost toppled, but kept her balance.
At the front of the class, Kim pressed her palms together, her unblemished olive skin not even breaking a sweat. “That’s it, ladies. I will see you next week.”
The women surrounding Daniela in the yoga centre grabbed their mats and wandered off, shouting goodbyes to Kim. Her friend’s eyes lit up as she waved to them. Kim took pride in helping others, finding spiritual purpose and strategies to relax from her Chinese culture and spiritual
