It is a poem about silence. Silence is more eloquent than words.

SILENCE
I remember the moment It all went still, It all went quite. I could see the people Rushing past me, A medical emergency they said. I held his hand Perhaps for the last time; So cold, so frail, Willing him to stay. The once strong, bold man, reduced, To crumpled sheets and nothing. The hero of my life eternally tired, no longer resolute, no longer brave. As his eyes looked into oblivion His lips quivered. He squeezed my hand And he was no more. I looked at him, His face so serene, No more talking, No more playful, An eternal silence Set up on me A Silence that Shall never fade. A Silence soon would tear one's soul apart. I bid him farewell, Not shedding a tear, As the storm had not reached yet. It was silent still, Calm, inert; Numb to any feeling. I promise him I shall make him proud one day I promise him I shall strive to become like him. Never to forget The lessons he has taught me. Never to forget The stories he has told me. I looked at him one last time, Held his hand one last time; Shaking all over, Knowing I shall Never feel the same, Again I promise him, My dear grandfather, The hero of my life I shall remember him always As I walk away from him slowly, A gloomy dark fog embraces me Turning my world bleak and grey. And the eternal silence A constant companion, It becomes.
