DEREK’S POV

I saw her closing her eyes in frustration, I can sense that she was irritated and desperately wanted to yell at me for not listening to her, but she is afraid that I will harm her because I am the Alpha, but how could she be afraid of me and not feeling happy for finding out about her mate.

Isn’t that what we learn and watch our whole childhood and teenage life, waiting for our mate who will make our bond complete, even she is not feeling any mate bond, how is that possible, I would have happily agreed with her that she is human if and only if Daxton wouldn’t had sensed her wolf.

‘Daxton! Do you have any idea why she is denying the fact that she is a wolf, just like us?’ within a few minutes I was exhausted, I had never got tired in my life so soon even on the battles until right now, when a continue refusal from my mate and not accepting our mate bond was making me broke and weak.

‘I am unable to connect to her wolf but I guess that she was in some very big danger in past due to which her wolf had shut herself down and don’t have enough strength to wake up herself, I assume that she did it to protect her’ my heart shattered in to the pieces learning that she was in some very big danger, is that the reason she is hiding herself so stubbornly.

I closed the distance between us and cupped her face in my palms, the contact of our warm skins brought a spark in my body, the tingling feeling made my heart to jump in joy that he had finally found his mate after waiting for so long, looking deep in to her blue ocean like eyes, I inhaled her scent and a genuine smile made its way on my lips when I observed that she had felt the spark too.

‘Did you feel that? The electrifying feeling on our skin after our skin touched’ she parted her lips to say something but then shut her mouth, maybe our closeness and mate bond was overwhelming for her. My mate is such a beautiful girl and will make a perfect Luna, me and my pack are lucky to have her and we all will protect her from every danger that is lingering over her. I vowed to myself inwardly.

‘We will do Derek, she is our mate and Luna’ Daxton agreed with me too, my eyes flicker to her plump lips, that were rosy pink and soft, calling me to taste them, but I refrained and focused my sight on her eyes, I had to make her trust me and tell me what has happened with her and why she is hiding her identity and more importantly how come Garrette couldn’t sense her wolf, he is Alpha too, even if she had not shifted and her wolf has not surfaced, she still is from our kind and he should have been able to realize this, was he playing any dirty game? is he the danger for my mate?

So many questions start to jumble up in my mind, making me groan in pain.

‘Yes, I felt that, could be because of weather. I am sorry for that’ she holds my both hands and removed them, I suddenly felt the emptiness occupying me. How could she do that, it is the mate bond which make you forget everything except your mate and here she says that it could be because of weather and she is sorry for that. I smiled sadly, situation was getting more tensed then I was expecting.

‘What is your name?’ I decided to go with different approach this time, if she calls herself a human, then I should try the way human communicates with each other, anything for my mate.

‘Serena, Serena Caldwell’ she paused for the moment as if judging the consequences of her decision and then told me, her voice stuttering, I can sense the fear around her, something which could be the reason of me left in rage and thirsty for blood by the end of our conversation.

‘How did you get here Serena? If you are a human you should not be here, it is the territory of our werewolves and we don’t like trespassing’ I crossed my hands on my broad chest and leaned back on the trunk of the tree, admiring the beauty of my mate while she was again debating on answering my question.

‘You are also werewolf; how should I trust you. Aren’t you all same and together?’ I clenched my jaw, whatever was happening was not at all appreciating but I must remain calm for the sake of my mate, she is in danger and I have to protect her but first I must gain her trust if she has issues with trusting us.

‘You can trust me Serena, believe me I will never harm you nor will let any harm come near you’ she bit her lip as if she was feeling bad herself for treating me like that.

‘Alpha Garrette, he was the one who brought me here. I did not come here on my will, I even don’t know about this place, or how far my city is from here’ she sat down on the floor that was covered with the dead leaves that had fallen down from the branches.

‘Why did he brought you here? And how will you go back, when you don’t know the way back to your home?’ I inquired, the more she was telling me, more I was getting confuse, what she really the human about whom Colton had showed his concern to me, I ran the hands in my hair ruffling them ending up them to fall on my forehead in a mess.

‘They will take us back to our home, but I will not go back to my home, no one goes back to theirs. They sold us to these dogs just because they failed to pay the money they owe to them.’ I arched my brow and tilted my head, did she just call us a dog? Seriously?

‘I don’t mind to act like a dog, if only it will make her happy’ Daxton chirped in my mind, rolling out his tongue like a puppy. I rolled my eyes and face palmed my face inwardly, the damn crazy mate bond, what had it done to us, the Alpha of the second largest and strongest pack was ready to act like a dog if that will make his mate happy.

‘You see we are not a dog, we are wolf a totally different specie’ I cleared my throat and corrected her softly, no way I can raise a voice in front of my mate, it will scare her.

‘Both looks same, there is no difference’ she said in such a duh tone that I was left shocked.

‘Hey, mate is upset right now. We are dogs, don’t argue on this with her’ another waves of shock hit me, was Daxton arguing with me? weren’t we always on the same page and rarely had argued.

‘Mate is priority’ here comes Daxton response and I sighed. My mate is not on my side and my wolf had already agreed to go against me and take her side, wow.
