Caspian
The charity program had just ended, and so I decided to go to store to get something for my daughter, Princess. It had taken almost two hours for the program to come to an end, with the charity organized to raise money for orphans and the less privileged. Started by two Alphas who were business partners and who considered it their own way of helping the poor three years before, the program takes place once every year. People from different states are invited, with my name getting on the list this year, and in all honesty I enjoy going to places like this, helping people and giving them something to hope for another day. Life wasn't always rosy—at least for me.
I had promised that I would get Princess something from my trip to the city because she was crying and didn't want to let me go after all the pleas from her nanny. Though it had been a promise I made on the spur of the moment, I knew I had to keep it as I had given her my word. She needs to grow to trust me and know that I do as I say.
Princess was only a baby when I adopted her. The little one had lost her parents and to a certain rogue attack some years before, and luckily, we were able to get to her before the enemy. Since then, she has been living with me, and has come to know me as her father. She can be very adorably clingy, but is still a loving girl, even to the point of being loved as I would my own daughter.
I drove for a while around the city before spotting a*****e. Deciding to check it out, I found a parking lot and a space to park my car in with a surprising immediacy. These spaces seem quite easy to find around here. I've been to cities that make it hell.
I wore my shades as I stepped out of the car, but at that moment, my heart started to race for no reason, a sort of forewarning. When I turned, it was to see someone staring at me from afar, the hidden eyes watching my every move. I couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman because of the hood the person was putting on, but my wolf also became restless inside of me and my senses were alert as I walked into the store. It definitely didn't seem too good.
It was quite a big store with practically everything a buyer would need, from toiletries to wears and a range of other things, so I moved from one shelf to the other searching for something I knew she would like and... I found it.
Chocolate.
Princess was a huge fan of chocolates, which she fondly called the 'brown stuff', and would do anything to have it. I picked it up and feeling my heart pace, noticed the hooded person again. Then my heart skipped a beat.
Who could this be and what's happening to me? I thought to myself. It was strange to feel this way.
"Go to her." My wolf said from within, making me scoff.
"How are you even sure it's a female and why should I go to her?" I asked and shut my wolf out. I walked over to the teddy bear shelf to admire them, deciding that they were all cute. I should need to get one of these for my baby on her next birthday.
How old is she now again?
Four, yes, four.
Does it even matter the age? I can get one for her now.
A thought came to me to ask one of the sales reps if the store does waybill, so I turned only to find the person still standing there. The glances I got from whoever this was were getting suspicious, as I could somehow see them from beneath the hood. Wolf sight.
With my senses heightened, I called out for the sales rep. She walked towards me and spoke in her best professional voice.
"Hello sir, is there something I can help you with?" She asked.
As I spoke to her, I noticed that the suspicious figure ducked quickly behind, making my heart race one more time. With amazing stealth, they slipped behind me and I felt my wallet slip from my back pocket in a second while the sales rep continued to speak, obviously not noticing what had just happened.
"Hey!!!" I shouted and at that moment, the person took off. I rushed out of the store as I chased them hard on their heels, my disgust for thieves spurring me on.
"Hey stop there." I shouted but the person continued to run, not stopping for once. I had to admit, that whoever this was, they were quite fast for an ordinary runner. Except that I was even faster, going at a speed enough to catch up with them as well. My intuition could tell that this person was getting tired, as any human running this fast and far is sure to get tired.
I am a werewolf, though.
For me, this is only the beginning.
I was close to getting this person, just a little more.
Without a second thought, I grabbed the person's hand from behind while they yelped in pain, forced to a sudden stop. From the sound, this was sure to be a female, but I was determined to not let that get in the way of justice.
Without a second thought, I pinned them to the nearest wall.
The impact caused the hood to fall off, revealing one of the most adorable pair of eyes I had ever seen. My heart raced ten times more as I took in how her long black hair fell behind her, and her puckered lips slightly parted to allow for her to breathe. My biggest problem among all these things, though, was my wolf dancing with joy from within me, pleading to come out. Before I could hold him back, he pushed further, and I could feel my eyes changing form.
"Mate," he said loud and clear, throwing me into confusion.
"Huh!" She said, still breathing hard and messing with my senses.
"Mate." He repeated.
I didn't know what next to do, so I just stared helplessly at her. The next thing, she raised her knee and rammed it between my legs, causing me to release my hold on her with a yelp.
Taking that as her cue to escape, she continued her run where it stopped, trying to get far away from me as possible, and without the faintest idea of what has just happened.
Of course she doesn’t, she’s a human.
I stood there dumbfounded till I lost sight of her, realizing what just happened. I had just found my mate, my other half. My Luna. A human mate.
This can't be. It's not possible. No! No!! No!!!
Not me.
Not Caspian.
Not the Alpha of the Night Howlers Pack.
This has to be a nightmare.
How, in the whole wide world, can my mate be a thief?
