"No, I am not walking into school like this" She protests and the boys groan. They were currently at the mall, trying to find L.J a hot outfit that still made her feel comfortable in her own skin, but boys being boys, they kept choosing tight shirts and short skirts for her to put on.
"Alright fine, you can wear what you want, but then you have to at least put on some make up tomorrow" Cam argues back and she groans.
"No, why did I agree to this?" She asked more to herself than the boys, but they all rolled their eyes at her statement.
"You wanted our help and we are giving it to you, so take it or leave it" Aaron said, and her eyes widened at his harshness.
"That was straight forward" She said, and he walked closer to her.
"You want straight forward, huh?" She slowly nodded not really looking forward to what he had to say to me.
"Your chest looks weird because you only wear sports bras, your hair is always up in a pony tail, you wear baggy clothes and nothing girly" He says, and her shoulders sag a bit. No wonder guys never took a liking to her. She turned around looking in the mirror and owned slightly tilting her head to the side as she started feeling bad about her appearance. Shane walked up behind her and he put his hands on her shoulders.
"Hey, there's nothing wrong with you. You just need a makeover that's all"
"Thanks, but I don't think this will work" She says but Shane wouldn't let her have it.
"Stop thinking like that" He scolds her, and she sighs.
"Alright. Let's start this then" And so they started going through the stores like the Flash, walking into every store they see, and making L.J try on almost every piece of clothing they could grab for her. They all got home, and they forced her to model the outfits for them much to her dismay. She put on the first outfit that consisted of a pair of black sneakers, black leggings and a slightly less baggy V-neck shirt. She knew that this was still slightly similar to her own style but at least she felt comfortable. She walked out into the living room as the boys nodded in approvement, and she did a slight twirl in front of them.
"I like this" L.J says and Aaron smiles at her.
"That's because it's basically still you, and we need to get you into another style" She groaned as he broke down her hopes of staying in this style.
"Bring out the next one" Aaron says and she stomps off to get dressed in yet another outfit, this one slightly out of her comfort zone. It was black ripped shorts with ankle high boots, and a red crop top that was really tight around her chest. She quickly looked into the mirror and her reflection made her eyes widen.
"I have boobs?!" She yells a little bit and turns her body to the side, checking herself out. Obviously, she knew she had boobs since she was a girl, but she didn't know that they were this….evolved. She walked out with a slight smile on her face as she felt a little proud of herself.
"What do you guys think?" She asks them, and they all give their attention to her, their eyes widening a bit and their mouths dropping slightly.
"You have boobs?!" Cameron yelled, and she clapped her hands together once as she laughed.
"That's what I said" They both laughed and kept pointing and joking about it, until Aaron shushed them, looking very serious.
"You guys, this is not the time to joke around, we have to get her ready by tomorrow" He says and L.J and Cam stay quiet as they listen to him. He stands up walking over to L.J inspecting her, as he circled her his brows furrowed and eyes analyzing everything about her. She felt like she was being scanned by a robot that was about to tell her everything wrong with her.
"Your posture is a bit sloppy, and you need to work on pulling your shoulders back when you walk, and you definitely need to work on your walk as well" Maybe Aaron was a robot who judges people.
"This color works well with you, but you would look better with a royal blue or indigo since you have blue eyes" He says, and she blinks rapidly, trying to see if this is the Aaron that failed art in primary school for not knowing his colors. She looked to the rest of the guys and saw that they were also staring at Aaron in shock and slight awe at his knowledge of fashion.
"This cut of the crop top is good for your body type, but slightly baggy sweatshirts will also look good if you pair it with jeans and heels, since you have an hourglass figure" She raised her eyebrows as she turned to him and his eyes met hers.
"How do you know all this?" She asked, and he shrugged at her, looking at the boys still mouth agape from what just happened.
"Dude! That was way too girly for my liking" Cam said as he raised his hands and walked to the kitchen, raiding L.J's fridge. Shane stood up and gave Aaron a pat on the shoulder, as Aaron rolled his eyes at their little drama act.
"I agree with Cameron on that one man" He says and joins Cam in the kitchen, also eating L.J's food.
"How do you know all this though?" She asked again, and he looked at her and then to the floor.
"I watch a lot of project runway with my mom sometimes, and it actually is really interesting to learn this type of stuff, ok, so stop judging me for knowing this kind of stuff, it doesn't make me weird" He said, and she stepped forward hugging him. They stood there hugging each other for about two minutes, until she pulled away grabbing his hands in hers.
"I don't think you're weird, I would never judge you, and I don't care if you sound girly, I find it great that you're interested in things like that. Because of you and that knowledge you have, you can help me change my look and be better looking" Aaron gave L.J a look of slight happiness at her words, and she smiled at him wanting him to know that she cares about him and not his interests.
"I love you so much, Aaron" She says and gives him one last hug. When she let go the other boys were standing behind the couch looking at them, and Cam and Shane both scoffed.
"So, you only love him huh?" Cam teases her and she rolls her eyes at his dramatic behavior.
"Drama queen" She says, and he gasps loudly, making Shane jump slightly next to him.
"I am NOT, a drama queen! I am a drama king" He says and sits down on the couch, pretending that it was his thrown in his humongous castle of gold.
L.J went and changed into the last outfit they bought for her and she observed herself in the mirror again, not really sure about what to think. She was wearing a normal white shirt, tucked into a plain black skirt, and probably the first pair of black heels she's worn since she nearly broke her nose the first time, she tried on a pair at Forever 21. She walked out of her room and down the stairs, very slowly as to make sure she doesn't fall down and crack open her skull like Humpty Dumpty, and stood in front of the boys, not making eye contact.
"How does this one look?" She whispers, and then looks up as none of them said anything. They sat there with their mouths open, their eyes running over her outfit, and she nearly blushed at all the male attention. L.J was used to male attention, but the kind you get from brother's or best friends, not the type where they check you out, and look at you like they want to gobble you up like a free meal at Olive Garden.
"Guys? What do you think?" She asks again, and they suddenly meet her eyes for the first time since she stepped out of her room in this outfit. She wrapped her arms around herself, feeling a little uncomfortable wearing this, and the boys looking at her like they just did. She felt different and not really normal at that moment, not sure if the boys liked it or not.
"W-wow L.J, you look…" Cam said trailing off, not sure what to say to her. He has never seen her dressed up and this honestly took his breath away. He suddenly saw L.J a little different than before.
"I knew it would look good on you" Aaron said as he knew he was the one who put this outfit together at the mall, thinking about everything that would suit her and her body perfectly. He noticed that she felt a little out of place, but that was normal for someone trying something new. They would just have to take things a bit slow with her and get her to be more comfortable in this type of clothing.
"You look hot" Shane said, and she looked at him shocked at his choice of words. He never even told her that she looks pretty and now all of a sudden, he just blurts out that she's hot? Was this the power girls got from dressing up in skirts, and crop tops, and heels? She smiled at that thought and wanted to laugh as she thought about how guys must see them. Does this mean that guys only go for looks? It must be since the boys never gave her compliments, and now they were all about to catch flies with their open mouths.
"Wow, thanks, I guess" She says and smiles at them all.
"So, are you ready to walk into school like that?" Aaron asks her and suddenly she remember why they were doing this and that she was going to have to show the new her to people. She looked at Aaron, took a deep breath and exhaled, trying not to pass out at the thought of people laughing at her for dressing like this.
"Damn, I'm going to have to be, aren't I?" She asks him since the other two were still staring at her in shock not being able to function normally anymore. It kind of felt empowering to her that she had this effect on them, and wondered if this is what it would be like to walk in to school dressed like this, so everybody else can stare at her like that as well.
"Yeah you have to be ready for anything tomorrow" Aaron says and she looks to him and nods certain that she wanted to do this and go to school in these clothes that made her feel like a queen.
"Yes" She says, and Aaron smiles at her and she returned the gesture. She felt ready for anything, she felt confident, and she felt like she could rule the world wearing these shoes. She felt like she could win over anyone's heart, especially Roy's heart. Roy. He crossed her mind and she felt a slight jump in her heartbeat. Was he going to notice her with this make over she was going through? Was he going to like her? Was he going to be impressed with her appearance? She pushed those thoughts out of her mind as she shook her head, not wanting to ruin the great feeling she felt at this moment. She told herself that she would just be ready for what was to come the following day and that she wouldn't have to worry about it. After a while she got dressed in her usual clothes and chased the boy's home, wanting to be alone for a while, watching movies and eating junk food.
"Maybe I should lay off the junk food" She says to herself as she looked to her stomach and it rumbled right at the moment.
"Nah!" She waves it off and carries on watching her movie and shoving her face with fries for the rest of the night.
