~IVY~ “No, no, Lysander…” I shook my head slowly, my voice trembling with fear. “You can’t do this. Please, Xander.” I had to do everything within my power to stop Lysander from going through with this. Otherwise, I would lose my baby. Lysander walked toward me and began loosening the ropes he had used to tie me up. As he did, his deep voice filled the room. “Be an obedient girl and get this transfusion done. Only then will I consider sparing your life, Ivy.” He finally loosened the last rope and stepped away from me. But I wasn’t about to cooperate. I stood up angrily and turned toward Mr. Yaren before looking back at Lysander. I had to convince him. I had to make him understand. No matter how much he yelled at me, I couldn’t allow him to put my baby’s life in danger. “Mr. Yaren, take her away!” Lysander ordered. Mr. Yaren hesitated. The moment he stepped toward me, I raised my left hand, silently warning him not to touch me. Then I turned toward Lysander. “You don’t want to believe that Cameil is lying?” My voice trembled. “Fine. But at least you can believe our family doctor when she says I should stay away from transfusions and surgical procedures!” I quickly searched the pockets of the trousers I was wearing. My fingers finally found my phone. I pulled it out and immediately tried calling Mrs. Karen. But before the call could connect, Lysander snatched the phone from my hand. I yelped in fear and looked up at him. “I told you I would spare your life if you transfuse your blood into Cameil!” His voice thundered through the room. “And yet, you’re standing here claiming rights!” “I’m sorry, Lysander, but I can’t do this.” I shook my head. “Not for Cameil. And definitely not for her fake unborn child.” “I am ordering you to do this.” His expression hardened. “You have no option but to respect whatever I say.” “I’m pregnant, Lysander!” The words finally escaped my lips. “I’m three weeks pregnant with your child!” Silence. The entire room suddenly became still. “The doctor advised me to stay away from blood transfusions and surgical procedures. Doing this will endanger my child’s life!” My voice echoed through the silent room. Lysander stared at me. His eyes widened. He didn’t blink. He simply stood there, staring at me as though he was struggling to understand what I had just said. I didn’t know what had pushed me to finally tell him the truth. Perhaps it was because I had no other choice. I had to do this for him. For our unborn child. “I have proof that I’m three weeks pregnant with your child, Xander.” My voice was steadier now. Thankfully, I still had the pregnancy report with me. I quickly pulled it from my pocket and handed it to him. “Look at it, Xander.” I forced a smile. “I’m really pregnant.” Lysander remained silent as he took the report from my hands. For a moment, I thought he would finally understand. I thought perhaps the news would change something. But the moment his eyes moved across the paper, his expression transformed. The warmth that had briefly appeared in his eyes disappeared. His face became a mask of fury. His forehead creased deeply, his jaw tightened, and the muscles in his face seemed to tremble with rage. “What could possibly be wrong?” I asked, confused by his reaction. But before I could get another word out, Lysander raised the pregnancy report in front of my face. “You’re pregnant, huh?” His voice was frighteningly calm. Then, right before my eyes, he began tearing the pregnancy report apart. My heart shattered. I watched helplessly as the only proof I had of my pregnancy was ripped into pieces in his hands. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t even move. In this marriage, Lysander made the decisions. I listened. I obeyed. And I watched without judging. But what he said next destroyed whatever hope I had left. “Your pregnancy doesn’t impress me.” He looked at me coldly. “In fact, I’m only happy because once this transfusion is carried out, you’ll lose that bastard inside you!” My heart turned to ashes. I knew Lysander didn’t love me. I had known that for five years. But I had hoped that the moment he learned about our unborn child, he would at least show some sympathy. He didn’t. Not even for his own child. I stared at him, feeling something inside me break. This was the least I could do. Since telling him about my pregnancy hadn’t changed his mind, I would have to find another way to save my baby. “Chris!” Lysander’s voice echoed through the room. “Take her to the ward.” He turned toward Mr. Yaren. “Mr. Yaren, you know what to do next.” Chris immediately stepped forward and grabbed me. “No!” I struggled against his grip. “Lysander, please! Don’t do this to me!” My eyes filled with tears. “Please don’t hurt our unborn child!” I looked directly at him. “This baby is ours!” My voice cracked. “Please, Xander. Stop this!” I wished I could change his mind. I wished there was something I could say that would reach the man I loved. But Lysander didn’t move. His hands were buried inside his pockets as he stared at me without emotion. Chris dragged me away from the room. And the last thing I saw was Lysander standing there, completely unmoved by my cries. --- 3:46 PM I slowly opened my eyes. Everything around me was blurry. Where was I? I instinctively placed a hand on my stomach. My unborn son immediately came to mind. My eyes widened. I suddenly sat upright on the bed. “My baby!” Someone immediately approached me, trying to calm me down. Her face was blurry, and I couldn’t tell who she was. But I didn’t care. I didn’t want to know who she was. There was only one thing I wanted to know. My precious little boy. Where was he? “Where am I?” My voice echoed through the room. The surroundings looked like a hospital ward. “Calm down, Mrs. Steel.” The woman spoke gently. “You’re here with me in the hospital.” But I ignored her. Everything had happened so quickly. The last thing I remembered was Mr. Yaren injecting something into my body to make me fall asleep. And now… I was here. Then I finally recognized the woman. Mrs. Karen. My family doctor. “Doc!” I immediately reached for her. “Please, my baby!” I grabbed onto her clothes. “Please check if he’s okay. I just had a transfusion…” My words stopped when I saw her face. She looked devastated. There was no smile. No reassurance. Only sadness. My heart began pounding. “Is everything okay, Doc?” I stared at her. Mrs. Karen said nothing. Her silence made my fear grow worse. “Doc?” Still nothing. My emotions became unbearable. “I hate cliffhangers, Mrs. Karen!” My voice trembled. “What happened?” Mrs. Karen finally looked at me. Her eyes were filled with tears. “I’m sorry…” She struggled to speak. Then she handed me several documents. “We lost the baby.” My entire body froze. “You had a deep blood transfusion and lost almost all the blood in your body. As a result…” Her voice cracked. “You had a miscarriage.” I stared at her, unable to breathe. No. No, that couldn’t be true. My hand instinctively moved toward my stomach. My baby was gone? Mrs. Karen lowered her gaze. “I’m even more sorry to tell you this, Mrs. Steel…” She paused, tears gathering in her eyes. “But you can no longer bear children.” My heart stopped. “You lost the baby…” Her voice became barely audible. “And you won’t be able to have another child again.” The documents slipped from my trembling hands. I stared at nothing. My baby. My only baby. The child I had waited five years to have. Gone. And now… I could never become a mother again. “Forgive me, Mrs. Steel.” But I barely heard her. Because my entire world had already gone silent.
