Through a dense forest, with crooked trees and ominous ambiance trotted a large wolf. His paws were gigantic leaving huge wet paw prints in the wet soil. The wolf came to a clearing, in the middle stood a small garden gnome. There were no settlement for miles and miles, whomever put the gnome there did not want just anyone to find it. The wolf shifted back to his human form, tied to his ankle was a satellite phone. The werewolf dialed a long number and waited for someone to pick it up. After three long rings a gruff voice echoed through “did you find it?” The man straightened his back “yes alpha, a gnome just like the others.” From the other line came a barking order from the alpha “where are you?” the man answered promptly, “I’m in north of Russia alpha.” The alpha didn’t reply right away “good, take the gnome with you and take the first flight back home.” The man nodded even though no one could see him nod “yes alpha.” Then he hung up, picked up the gnome and tied them both to his ankle. He shifted and started his run towards civilization.
A beta looked over his alpha’s shoulder, he was blocking most of the view as he leaned his palms on the table. Both were trying to decode the small messages they had gathered over the months.
‘The goose flew’
‘a price at each hunt’
‘The treasure is’
‘the flight itself.’
‘Goose will drop’
‘Do not let’
‘from land to land.’
‘the goose fool you’
The alpha was looking over the small pieces trying to solve the riddle. “I wonder if it a price, or a treasure? Perhaps it’s secrets from all her jobs in different packs.” The alpha was looking at the little pieces with hope. The beta was biting his lower lip, he did not like the part about a flight and a goose, it gave him a bad feeling. But he would never say that to the alpha, he knew better than to anger him. “I wonder how many more gnomes there are.” The alpha looked at the beta from over his shoulder “the writing on the pictures said 12 gnomes, so we are only missing 3 more. The next gnome will let us know where the next is.” The beta nodded “perhaps we should send another man on the next flights?” The alpha made a face of confusion, “why? He’s the most useless of them all, he’s not missed at all.” The beta nodded “yeah, but I got this sense that he is going to screw something up.” The alpha exhaled “you’re right, send someone else on the next 3 flights.” The beta nodded, then he bowed his head in respect and left the office.
In an apartment in a crowded city sat Luna at her desk. She had many apartments around, everyone in a different name. She was sending instant messages to T about her vacation with her brother, she bit her lip and paused. Then she took a deep breath before she types to T ‘I broke it off with John.’ T answered immediately ‘why?? You guys seemed perfect together.’ Luna sighed and leaned back into her seat. She took a few moments to think while biting her lower lip. Then she typed out the most reasonable answer she could ‘I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I gave it a shot, that’s more than I’ve ever done before.’ T dropped it at that, she could read between the lines that Luna was not going to talk about it anytime soon, best to let it lie until she is ready. T and Luna knew each other like siblings, they formed a strong relationship while T was dating Luna’s brother. T started to type to Luna warning her about Charles’ mood ‘I told him about us....’ Luna made big eyes ‘oh sh*t, how did he take it?’ T messaged back quickly ‘he got really quiet, then he just stuttered a lot of incoherent words. He seems to think we both should have not gotten involved sexually since we are ex and sister. I just told him flat out that we were no longer seeing each other at the time and I can do whomever I want.’ Luna snorted then giggled at that ‘You go girl! I guess Christmas will be a bit awkward this year.’ T replied quickly ‘lol’. Then T followed with ‘He’s sulking a bit, but I think he get’s it.’ Luna smiled as she typed ‘I guess something good came out of my fling with John...’ T replied ‘oh?’ Luna continued ‘yeah, I suspect it was him that set up the whole trip thing. Charles would never spill, but I think he knew what was going on when he left for that trip.’ ‘Oh he knew! When I got there he was all nervous and had set up the place to be really romantic. I just thought it was Charles that planned it all.’ Luna replied ‘I don’t think so, it’s not really something Charles would have thought of, but it reeks of John.’ It took a while before T replied ‘I hope you guys get back together, he’s good for you Luna. I know you are stubborn and a very independent woman. But I could really see you settle down with him, even have a family.’ Luna was crying as she read the last bit.
