Riya's POV :
I groaned snuggling into my blanket, as my alarm clock screeched in it's ever so annoying ring tone. I snoozed it and tried to sleep only to be disturbed by my phone vibrating again, looking at the caller id showing "Mom", I yawned attending it.
"Hello mom", I said rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I heard some shuffling sound before my mom's face with a bright smile lit up my screen. Even at this time of morning, she looks as elegant as always I thought to myself. She cleared her throat snapping me out of my thoughts. I smiled sheepishly looking at her.
"Did you even listen to what I said or were you daydreaming again Ray?" My mom asked as my Father waved me from behind busily flipping the pancakes. My stomach growled at the sight of chocolate syrup next to it.
I wished "Good morning Dad", as I turned my attention back to my mom answering "Yes mom", to whatever she was saying as I always do.
After noticing that she doesn't have my full attention on her, she used her famous "I'm the mom tone", which immediately made me wince clearing my foggy mind.
"You will meet him, right?", she asked. "Meet who mom?", I asked racking my brain for every possiblity of who I was supposed to meet. She facepalmed herself before telling "The date with my friend's son?".
Now it was my turn to facepalm as I whined, "No mom not again please", which only made her smile to turn into a frown. Not wanting to upset her I said, "Ok Mom I'll go", as I heard Dad's voice from the dining table, "Honey, breakfast is ready." After telling me to dress up into something nice, mom disconnected the call waving me goodbye.
I got out of the bed and headed to shower, humming a song to myself. I wrapped a towel around my body, and came out of the shower only to shriek in surprise seeing my best friend sitting on the bed calmly flipping through the novel I kept near my bed yesterday night.
"Good to see you too Ray", Ashlynn said.I rolled my eyes asking, "What are you doing here Ashlynn?". "Oh nothing, it's just mom called asking me to help you with the date" she said. I massaged my forehead mumbling to myself, "You and my mom going to give me a heart attack one day". She pulled out a dress from her bag and threw it on my face and left the room shutting the door behind.
20minutes later…
I stood in front of the mirror with a red crop top, matching cardigan and blue pencil fit jeans.I grabbed my back pack, purse, phone, laptop and keys putting my sneakers on. I waved Ashlynn goodbye as I headed down the stairs.
I greeted our security guard "Good morning Max, how is your daughter doing now?" adjusting my bag. He beamed saying " She is doing much better now and even wants to meet you again sometime."I smiled replying "Sure I would love that, I'll let you know when soon Max."He thanked me again as I waved him bye, jogging to my car and slide into the driver seat heading out for a new day with hope and happiness.
