Lara showed me around the pack house and I had to admit that it was gorgeous. It looked like a manor and the walls were full of paintings from the Hollandish period. It was dark and represented mostly people but also wolves. The floors were dark wood and the walls and ceilings were white. Heavy chandeliers hung from the ceilings and they were gold. Neat. This pack was loaded. I suppose drugs do pay well.
She showed me the door to Dante's office and I could not help a glare. Then we left this floor and she took me downstairs to the kitchen and lunch room. It was big enough to hold 1000 wolves but I was sure their pack was not that big.
"How many wolves are there in this pack?" I asked to be sure.
"Four hundred." She answered.
That was a lot. My pack back at home was only 200. We would never win in a fight against 400 trained mob wolves. Here went my plan of a fight between our packs.
"Do you want to see the outside?" She asked.
I nodded and we walked out of the pack house. A small village enfolded in front of my eyes with little wooden houses. When you saw it like this, you would never believe this was a village of mafia wolves. Lumberjacks maybe but not mafia. Maybe this was the point. Stay low and hidden. Like creeps or monsters. Fitting I thought.
We were deep into the woods too so the village was in a meadow surrounded by tall trees. This was the perfect cover. My pack was surrounded by fields and hills and a bit of woods. If I could calculate right we were West from this village.
I walked easily between the houses and all the wolves looked at us. They saluted Lara and looked at me quizzically but never did they say a word. I suppose secrets were something important to them. They had to live with them after all.
She showed me the whole village before two men arrived. One of them had black hair and dark brown eyes. So dark, they seemed black. He was tall, I estimated 1m85, muscular but not like Dante. By the smell, he was the Gamma. The other had dark brown hair with soft blue eyes and by the smell he was a warrior.
"Ladies." The Gamma said.
"Selena, this is Luca and Pete." Lara said.
"Nice to meet you Luna." Luca held out his hand to me.
"Likewise."
I shook his hand and his smile widened. He didn't release my hand though and grabbed it tighter making me frown.
"Alpha is looking for you Luna." He said.
I arched an eyebrow at the statement. What did he want now? Lara narrowed her eyes and looked to Pete for confirmation. He nodded silently and I took back my hand forcibly making Luca's smile bigger.
"I'll take her." Lara said.
Luca furrowed his brows at her but nodded. What was his problem? Did he want to come with us?
"Sure. Your mate is there as well." Luca said and turned on his heels to leave.
Lara sighed and I did not know what to think about Luca. One thing was sure, I did not like him one bit.
We went back to the pack house and we now stood in front of Dante's office. I took a deep breath and braced myself for what was to come. When a metallic smell hit me. Blood. That was undeniable. What happened here? Only one way to find out.
I opened the door and froze on the spot. The room was everything you would expect of an office. It was full of books and there was a wooden desk on the left corner. On the desk there was a computer and scattered documents.
In the middle of the office, there was a body. Yes, a body. The man was covered in blood and above him stood Dante. He was wiping his hands and his chest was bare. I could see that he had more tattoos on his arms and chest. Those were all intricate designs and I would need to go nearer to see what they were. I could also see a scar that crossed his body from the left pec to his right hip. He had a six-pack and his muscles were toned. Damn he was a fine sight. That made me even more angry.
He looked at me and smiled before holding out his hand to me. I hesitated and looked to the other man in the room. He looked so much like Dante except for the eyes, his were hazel green.
Lara passed me by and went straight for the other man. She wrapped her hands around his neck and rubbed her cheek to his in a possessive gesture. That was her mate then and Dante's Beta and brother.
I walked slowly to Dante but shook my head. I would not take his hand while it was still covered in blood. He chuckled and said.
"Well well princess. I didn't think that a bit of blood would fluster you."
I scoffed at him and looked back at the body.
"What did he do?" I asked.
"Does it matter sweetheart? Since you want to know and I'm always happy to oblige to any of your requests, I'll tell you."
He neared me and I tried to take a step back but he grabbed me and pulled my back to his chest. He was towering me completely and the sparks flew everywhere in my body. He leaned into my ear and I could hear the smile as he spoke low.
"He tried to cross us by selling half of our cocaine to another cartel. That's treason and we hate traitors in this pack. I made it quick though by slicing his throat with my claws. Like an animal."
I tensed and looked back at the man. I killed before actually. I killed rogues with my pack but I never killed humans. That was very tricky since we tried to lay low from them. I understood that in order to sell the drugs they needed humans but... Did they need to kill them?
"You really like killing people don't you Alpha?" I said tartly.
He chuckled and tightened his grip around my waist.
"I like to do other things baby but killing... Yes, I don't mind. I would do anything to protect my pack."
I turned around in his embrace and glared at him. I let him see all the hatred I felt for him right now.
"But you still want to kill my family although they did nothing to you. You're despicable." I growled.
He growled and the Beta cleared his throat to remind us that they were still here in the room. Dante lifted his gaze to his brother and he was pissed to be interrupted.
"Brother. That's not the way with your mate." The Beta said.
"Mind your own business Ezio. You two take care of the body while I go take a shower with my mate." Dante said.
"I'm not going with you." I frowned.
"You do as I say." He growled.
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind him until we reached his room. He led me to the bathroom and closed the door behind us. He was still furious at me for defying him but so was I.
He walked straight to me and put his face in the crook of my neck. I tried to squirm out of his grip but he would not let me.
"You know babygirl, you defying me like you do is actually a turn on. People cower when I roar but you... You hold your ground and you growl at me. That's... Incredibly sexy." He said his voice low.
He pressed his body to mine and I could feel the bulge in his pants. I gasped at the feeling and my body reacted immediately. Stupid bond. He smiled in my neck and licked it. I bit my lip to stifle the moan that I felt coming in my throat.
"I like your reactions love... I will definitely have fun with you tonight... Maybe we shouldn't wait and I should show my mate how much she means to me right now..." He purred.
"Never..." I said my voice breathy.
"Really? I know that's a lie..." He said thoughtful.
He slid his hands along my body until he reached my thighs. He let his hands pull my dress up and I grabbed his wrists before he could reach my core.
"Please Alpha." I said. "Not like that."
He parted from me to look at me in the eyes. I gave him a dead serious stare and he reciprocated it. He searched my face and finally he parted from me.
"You're right. You deserve better than a quicky under the shower my mate. I'll take my time for you tonight." He said with a small smile.
He started to strip and I turned my eyes away. I wanted to look but I was too scared of what I would do. I could not deny the attraction and it was too dangerous to be here. As soon as he released me, I escaped the bathroom. I was a coward, so sue me.
