I walked to Dante and he finally lifted his gaze to meet mine. He smiled and opened his arms so I would sit down on his lap. I settled there before he showed me the papers that he was looking at.
"Those are the reports on all our activities in our territory." He explained. "As I'm sure Lara explained to you, our main activity is the drug dealing but we also sell weapons, counterfeits, we deal with politicians and the police."
"So, no human trafficking?" I asked thinking about what could be worse than what he said.
"No. That's too difficult to put in place if we don't want the humans to know what we are and I don't like it. We all have a limit and that would be mine." He said.
"I see. I'm relieved because that would be a big no. I don't necessarily agree with the rest but human trafficking would also be a big no on my part." I said feeling relief wash over me.
"You'll see that it's not so bad. It's actually a lot of investment like what I want to do with your dad." He shrugged.
"Do all the other activities really bring more money than the honest part of the business?" I asked.
"I can show you the numbers if you want but yes. For now, the drugs bring us more income than what we do in real estate and our other legal businesses."
"What else do you own?" I asked.
"Hotels, restaurants, stores... You name it." He shrugged.
My mate was loaded but I knew where the money really came from. Maybe I could change that as well. I was not really comfortable with him working as a mafia boss but I knew you could not exit that kind of business so easily. I would be his mafia Queen wether I wanted it or not.
"I see. Well that means you have a lot of paperwork." I said looking at the papers on his desk.
"It does but I'm not the only one to sign. Ezio does as well and now you will too. We never sign the reports for our shady activities but we need to sign for the rest. Sadly, honest business implies taxes and other boring stuff that all require my CEO's signatures as well as mine since I own them."
"That I can do. I've been doing it all my life after all for my father." I nodded.
"Perfect. So here is what we need to do."
He explained what we needed to sign and where. He also told me everything about the shady part of the business and how it all worked.
"Is assassination necessary?" I asked as he talked about the drug dealers and I remembered our current situation.
"Yes sweetheart. It's necessary if we want to cover our tracks. Dead men tell no tales." He winked.
I could not help a laugh at the reference. I did not know much about human societies and how they worked but I knew about movies and music. The humans were good at it.
"I see. I don't mind killing to protect I told you that but you are going to kill the farmers in South America too right?" I asked.
"Yes. They disrespected us by thinking they could make the rules. Insubordination is not acceptable."
That was true. Wolves could fight the Alpha if they thought they could take his position but raising riots was a death sentence in every pack. A fair fight was allowed but not a stab in the back. Never. I could only nod. He was managing his business like he did his pack. It seemed fair to me.
"You really manage them like a pack." I voiced out my thoughts.
"Yes. That's the only way I know how to do my job. It works so far. Humans are no wolves but they understand leadership and hierarchy. They still try to play top dogs sometimes but a dog will never be as strong as a wolf." He said.
Humans certainly were not strong enough to try and as long as they did not use silver, they would be powerless. I remembered the scar he had on his belly and that some humans do know. I wrapped an arm around his waist and he kissed my head for comfort.
"What is it love?" He asked softly.
"Some humans do know what we are and they hurt you before..."
He tightened his hold on me and I snuggled my head to the crook of his neck.
"I was young back then cara mia. I wouldn't make that mistake anymore and those humans are well dead. I made sure of it." He said soothingly.
"It could happen again..."
"The humans I do business with don't know what we are. I make sure of it. As for our crocodile, well he's not the only shifter in our business. We usually don't fight with silver against shifters. I can't promise never to get hurt but I can promise that no one would take me away from you." He said.
"They can try but I do know how to kill as well." I said furrowing my brows. No one would take my mate from me.
He chuckled before kissing my head again.
"I'm happy to see that your feelings for me have shifted from wanting me dead to wanting my ennemies dead for hurting me." He chuckled.
"I never wanted you dead. I just didn't want to be near you if you threatened my family. Since I know my dad will agree to the deal, I know that we'll be all right. My family will be safe and we can start our own." I said.
"You're so sure of it." He said amused.
"I am. I know my father and I can recognise a good business opportunity when I see one so there's no way he would refuse. I know you need to hear it from him and I understand that. You know that I would say anything to keep them safe but I'm not lying. You'll see for yourself." I said.
"I can't wait. Especially to get started on our family precious."
"I know you love that part." I chuckled.
He joined me and stroked my hair lovingly.
"I enjoy your body very much baby but I also can't wait to mark you and put some pups in there." He said sliding his hand from my hair to stroke my stomach.
I could not help a blush to creep up my face. I wanted a lot of them because I loved pups and there was no one I wanted to have them with more than my mate. He was always so straightforward with things. Geez.
"Some pups huh?" I asked still blushing hard. "How many do you want?"
"Five might be good." He chuckled
"Five?!" I gasped.
"Or as many as you want beautiful." He said kissing my head.
"You're so casual about it." I sighed.
"Why should I be embarassed? You're my mate and we're both Alphas so we know how important pups are for the pack, especially Alpha pups. We have s*x a lot lately so that means pups are an option."
"I'm not marked and we're not doing it as our wolves so we're fine so far."
"Yes but as soon as you enter your first heat... I plan on changing that." He purred.
I could not help a shiver. He was a sin that man seriously. I looked into his green eyes and all I could see was love and lust. Dante was also never staisfied. Goddess, give me strength. I leaned into him to kiss his soft lips when there was a knock on the door. He growled and I chuckled, well people did tend to interrupt us.
"Yes?" Dante said his voice low.
"It's me." Luca's voice sounded. "I have the last reports on border patrol."
"Come in." Dante sighed.
I kissed his forehead softly as the Gamma entered the room. Well, time to get back to work.
