Few days passed in a minutes, and soon Sunday came by, It was a Sunday morning, The sun had yet to start rising as the sky was still really dark, The clock says it is 4 am, Though it was considered morning but every where was still really dark, Samuel was already up awake even though today was suppose to be a day of resting and praising God, and this time it wasn't to craft any chapter for his novel or any other work but because today was the day his brother was going back. Though school hadn't resumed, Michael still insisted he had to go back claiming he had things to do, but only siblings knew that he just wanted freedom as the level of freedom available when they live with their parent was minuscule, They had to come home quite early in order to avoid their parent worrying, They could not spend their money how they wanted to and they also could not do some things they usually do in school as their parent wouldn't see it as something right, another reason Michael was in a rush to return was his girl who was also going to return to school from her place, so that they could spend some quality time before school resume, Even though he and his girlfriend quarreled a lot, they were still together, even after all the threat of breakups they threw at each other, This showed that they truly possess quality love for one another.
Not to long after Samuel had finished packing Michael stuffs and Michael was also ready, and so they picked up everything and went on their way with their dad escorting them, Samuel was going to escort him to where he was going to enter the vehicle going to the state their school was located which was bayelsa, The journey was going to be quite long as bayelsa was very far away from Lagos, and they were likely to spend more than 10 hours on the road if the road was more than free, while if there is even a bit of traffic, consider it an above 12 hours journey.
They soon got to the car park where they could find vehicles going to bayelsa. On getting there, There were many vehicles of different brands, They were divided into two groups, on one group was 4 lines of well arranged cars, and on the other part was just an horizontal line, but extremely long one, This line was for vehicles that were already booked finished and so all they were doing was waiting for the people who booked them to arrive, while the other side consist of vehicles that had not yet been booked or at least not all seat within it had been booked, Luckily for Samuel and Michael they had already booked a vehicle before today and so they had nothing much to worry about, and the only thing they had to worry about was the other passengers being late or the driver coming up with one excuse of a problem or the other.
And fortunately it did happen that way, the passengers were quite late, Samuel, Michael and Victor, their dad, were the first people to arrive here, They had to wait an entire hour before a second passenger showed up, at that point, they kind of knew they were in for a late departure, and this was very annoying considering the drivers continuous lamentation when they were booking it that they should arrive by 4: 30 am at the dot and not even 10 minute more than, so that they could depart for the journey by 5: 30.
But then here they were, only two passengers were available at 5: 40 am, one thing about Africans and time is that they have this sense of time that they called African time, they always add 30 minutes to whatever time they are given, if you tell 7: 00, they will arrive 7: 30, and the most fascinating thing is how some or better still most if them will arrive 7: 30 at the dot or at least just a few minutes passed 7: 30, it was as if it was induced into their DNA, So most people had learned to shift the time 30 minute backwards whenever they want to give an African person a timing for something important in other to avoid late coming. The thing was that with the way the driver kept yelping that day, they felt everyone will arrive on time but then here they were exhibiting African time.
It was until a few minutes to six that they all finally reached and then the loads was carefully arranged in the boot and then they all picked the sit they wanted to stay, Michael had actually picked his seat early that morning and he picked the front seat, that is the one beside the driver. Around 6:00 am, they took off.
While the car took off Michael and Victor exchanged goodbyes and then Michael and Samuel did, but Michael and Samuel own was quite brief, As the car drove of their eyes met, and lingered on each other for a while in deep thought, not knowing what each other had in their mind.
As the view of Samuel finally faded out of Michaels eyes, He moved his eyes to the sky still in deep thought as an expression of pain hit him, he didn't even notice the sun that was scorching his eyes until a while later and then he immediately moved it away but then his eyes had already started seeing colours and so he had to keep it close for a while, and then shut it back open and waited for the colours to fade off.
Samuel on the other hand just walked home in deep thought, and soon they got into a tricycle going to their home side, once his dad eyes moved away, Two drops of tears slid down from the middle side of each of his eyes, He finally couldn't hold it anymore, it wasn't because of he was leaving for school as in less than two month Samuel planned on leaving for school too, It was because of the nature of he and his relationship.
The tricycle drove with full speed and so no one really noticed his tears, this was also because he was quick to wipe it off.
