Power of the Oblisk

As time went on, McCall and Neemah began to feel some kind of attraction and chemistry. They didn't know what to call it, love or just trying to make out. They would always avoid each other whenever their eyes meet each other. Maya understood what was going on but wanted them to work it out on their own as they were both adults. Neemah and McCall had decided to stay with Maya as it was the last place anyone could ever look for them. whenever they wanted to run some errands away from their residence they either do it in the night or cover almost every recognisable part of their body to avoid recognition as they have been placed on a wanted list by Sean.

Sean never gave up the search for McCall and the Oblisk. infact he had passed a search bill of a thousand dollars to anyone with any profitable information of his whereabouts and five times the amount to anyone who could bring McCall to him alive. He wouldn't have care if he was brought to him dead or alive if it weren't for the information about the Oblisk which only McCall knew where it was.

"oh didn't know you were this handsome" Neemah joked as he pointed on the bill pasted on the street wall

"I feel insulted by such a very low price, I'm worth a million dollars" McCall said as he laughed it off.

"you wish" Neemah replied as he pulls McCall who didn't notice two werewolves a few miles to where they were standing. They were out to get some supplies needed in their home. The wolves seemed to have perceived McCall was close as they became alert and more focused on the search, they approached McCall and Neemah who had to go through the back of the food store as they crawl towards the back door. The wolves heard some sound and ran to check it out but didn't get there on time.

when they got home, Neemah was not feeling too well which was unlike her as she never experiences any health problems in all.her years as a vampire. she has live for over a hundred years and still look 28. she got very dizzy and passed out just outside the house, McCall had to move her into the house before calling the attention of Maya.

"what's wrong with her, did she get into a fight?' Maya asks as she tries to help him get her into the bed. She makes a closer observation and gave out a very confusing look like she was missing something. She looks at McCall and tries all over again and was stunned.

"Maya, why do you have that look, is she gonna be okay?" McCall asked as he was beginning to be anxious of Maya's reaction like she had seen something unusual or difficult to talk about.

"how's this even possible?" Maya asked as she was still acting surprised.

"How's what even possible? Maya what's wrong with her?" McCall asked her as he was beginning to be very much concerned.

"She's pregnant" Neemah said as she dropped her diagnostic tools and goes to sit down.

"she's pregnant? Is that even possible?. she had told me she can't get pregnant because she's a vampire and I'm only human. We must have been carried away a couple of times but we thought it was safe. I mean there was no need to use any form of protection since she can't take in" McCall explains as he tries to clear himself.

"Under Normal circumstances this wouldn't have been possible but we still do not understand the extent of change the Oblisk had done to you. At this time we have to believe everything is possible because you are the first case ever recorded" Maya tries to give an explanation .

“is she going to be alright?” McCall asked Maya with a very worrying look.

“I don’t really know for sure. All the previous cases of trying to conceive by a vampire didn’t happen this way, they were all carried out as experiments and there’s never been a successful experiment till date. It’s either the mother dies or the child and in most cases both lives are lost. Our major concern should be how to deal with her thirst and hunger as that will increase in less than no time to accommodate the baby which will depend on her for blood supplies” Maya tries to explain completely confused of what to do next.

Just then Neemah wakes up as a result of the noise from their conversation.

“Why does my head ache like I’m carrying the whole country on my head. I passed out, didn’t I? Neemah asked as she tries to stand to her feet but staggered back into the bed.

“Yes, you did. You just need to lay still and regain your strength.” Maya replied her as she helps her back to the bed.

“What’s happening to me?. How long have I been out?

“three hours now. I think…..” Maya replied but couldn’t finish her statement and stopped.

“Maya?, What do you think?. What is happening to me?. I’ve never felt this way before. Am I under the influence of some magic spells or something?. Neemah asked as she became increasingly worried. After a moment of silence with no one speaking up, she became irritated with the silence and stormed out of the bed.

“Well, is anyone going to speak up or are you going to keep looking at me like I’ve lost my mind?” Neemah asked now In a louder voice.

“You’re pregnant” Maya cuts in before Neemah could end her statement.

“I’m what?. I don’t think any of you understand that I’m not in the mood for jokes right now''. Neemah said trying to get them to be serious.

“I think she might be telling you the truth, it’s not a joke” McCall finally spoke up.

“that’s not even possible. I am a vampire in case you both need your memories to be refreshed and I can’t take in.” Neemah said as she became so confused.

“l think it may be because of the Oblisk, I mean look at what it's done to McCall all this time” Maya tries to explain to her.

“All we need to do now is give you a proper care and think of a way to take care of you as everything might be increasing including all your senses and thirst. There’s nothing to worry about” Maya tries to calm Neemah down.

Sean have decided to double his search for McCall and the Oblisk after learning the information given to him by the salesman which matched the description of McCall. He mobilized more people and this time he had vampires joining in the search as this was the only reason for the terms of their alliance to be met. The Oblisk was the Missing piece for them to gain the peace and alliance they have been craving for. Dax had instructed his people to help in every possible way they can to make sure the Oblisk was retrieved.

Few weeks passed and things were looking good. It was as though they could handle the situation after all. Neemah and McCall made up to three rounds of blood supplies every week to help Neemah control her thirst. As months passed,Most times she couldn’t sleep as everything irritates her. She could hear animal sounds in the bushes like they were right on her ears. She could perceive the scent of almost everything and anything. She was becoming so uncomfortable and irritated by everything and often began to exhibit violent attitude. At this time, McCall thought it best for her to be left at home while he made the supplies and any errands himself.

McCall had gone to make supplies for the day and ran into some vampires and as he tries to avoid them, some of the things he carried fell off from his hands and made a loud noise. They rushed to where he was just as he turned to hide.

“Hey you, turn around” one of the vampires shouted at McCall who had already turned his back to make for a run.

“I said, turn around!” He repeated his command as he drew closer to where McCall was. In other not to create a scene and limit his chances of escape, he pushed the vampire and dashed out of the store and abandoned everything. The vampires ran after him who was now faster than a normal human because of his latest acquired strength from the Oblisk. He ran into the woods to decieve them not to follow him back to where he lived. He hid well inside the bush till it became dark and started making it back home. Unknown to him, his attackers had been instructed to hide in all exits and monitor every movement till he came out. They followed him back home without his knowledge but didn’t attack straight away. They went back and informed Sean about their findings and he decided to raid the place himself to avoid any more disappointments and shortcomings. They attacked later that night when everyone least expected and caught them off guard. The three of them were caught and brought outside where Sean and the rest were waiting.

“Well, well, well. I must confess, you’re one difficult man to find but there’s nowhere under the surface of the sun you can go to and I won’t find you” Sean said with a look of satisfaction on his face.

“ you’re already late. You’ll never have the Oblisk” McCall said.

“I don’t actually know what lies they’ve been feeding you but here’s the truth, the Oblisk is a symbol of authority and leadership worn by the leader of the wolf clan of which I am the one. So I employ you to give me the Oblisk before anyone gets hurt.” Sean said with the initial smile fading away into a wicked grin.

“I already told you, I don’t have the Oblisk” McCall replied again.

“You’re only a human, I don’t understand why you are interfering with wolf issues. This is not your fight. Sean said as he grabbed McCall by the jaw and lifts his head up. McCall Shakespeare off his head violently.

“Get your hands off me, you monster” McCall replied as he struggled to release himself from the tight grip of the vampires who then kicked him on the leg and forced him to kneel.

“I don’t know how you managed to get this woman pregnant or whatever tricks you all are trying to play here, just do you know, no one has ever conceived and given birth as a vampire. Not that it’s any of my business but since she’s important to you, I’ll start off with her maybe you will finally get to say something when I cut her belly open” Sean said as he threatened Neemah.

“ If you lay your hands on her, I’ll kill you myself” McCall said.

“I don’t think there’s any need for threats, cut her open!” Sean commanded.

Just as they were about cutting Neemah, McCall finally spoke out.

“Let her go and I’ll give you what you want. The Oblisk is inside me, I swallowed it” McCall said as he looked terrified for Neemah.

“McCall…what are you doing?” Neemah asked as she became surprised McCall was signing his own death warrant.

“Well, the only way to know for sure if what you said is true or not is to cut you open. And if I discover you’ve lied to me, I will make sure she suffers before I put her out of her miserable condition.” Sean said.

“Bring them all! We’re going home” Sean shouted as he turned to leave. Sean and his men took McCall and the two women away.
