Army of Death

Neemah was sick worried when she got home and didn’t see her son at home. She became immediately troubled because the feelings she had when James howled while in trouble. She suspected he might be in a big trouble and decided to go look for him but before she could step out, Danny and his mum brought James home who was already very tired.

“ Danny, what Happened to him. Oh my God!, Is he alright?” Neemah asked she went to bring James into the house. Danny explained to her what happened and how he had fought with some bad men and was exhausted. Neemah knew what she had to do to help him regain his and stabilize him. This was the first time he ever had to do such a thing and would subsequently have no problems if once he’s accustomed to using his powers more regularly.

Sean was seen visiting a sorceress to determine the meaning of the sign everyone received the night before. He had been troubled by the very strange howl everyone heard and it only meant there was a great danger to be worried about. His visit only made things worse for him as he didn’t get a very good news.

“An ultimate leader and power has risen. He shall be the leader of the supernatural creatures ; wolves and vampires alike. He is stronger than both the vampires and werewolves combined and he shall bring terror upon every evil in the land.” Zina, the sorceress said to Sean.

“ what can be done about this, how can this threat be neutralized?” Sean asked Zina.

“ There are not too many weaknesses for this creature. You will need to create a ferocious army, One that cannot be destroyed with ease. In this fight, the wolves will not be useful to you neither will the vampires match his fury. You need to create a different Army of Death, One without remorse, fear or affection. An indestructible Army of Berserkers.”

“An army of berserkers?. The creatures have been extinct for centuries and there’s no knowledge of creating new ones.” Sean reiterated his concern.

“The last berserkers are found in the cenotes of Yucatan, Mexico. But if you’re unable to get to the berserkers or convince them to trust and follow you, we can summon Modi, the god of combat rage, the god of berserkers. With his power, you shall create and command an army of berserkers”. Zina said. Sean was very pleased with this, there was a solution to his problems after all. Zina was a powerful sorcerer well known to perform dark magic and cast very rare spells. She gave Sean the spell to subdue a berserker and bend it to his will.

Sean set out in search of the berserkers at dawn the following day. He had to travel with his Wolfpack in other to witness the power of a berserker against a werewolf. When they got to the Mexico, they located the Yucatan underwater cave where the supposed last berserkers lived. As they drew closer to the cave, they heard strange growls coming from the cave and were taken few steps backwards. Out came a humongous creature with animal skull as a helmet and wolf skin vest. The creature was fearsome and had a very long spear. The creature growled again and the werewolves howled back. As the creatures kept growling and howling at each other, the berserker hurled his spear at one of the werewolves and stabbed it to death. The others attacked it and he molested them one after the other. The wolves will come at it all at once and launch their strikes on it but he would eventually push them away like they were nothing and was taking them out like a piece of cake. Sean witnessed how ferocious the berserker was but his entertainment was cut short when three other berserkers stormed out of the cave on hearing the growling of one of them in danger. Sean had no alternative than to cast the spell and immediately, they were traumatized for few seconds before finally kneeling on a single knee and pledging their loyalty to Sean. The spell established a special connection between Sean, the berserkers and the wolves that he could communicate to both species and command them at will. Sean was very pleased with his newly acquired power and after witnessing the damages done by a single berserker, imagined what a thousand could do . He returned to Nimron with the berserkers and staged a camp in the outskirts of the town where he could create more berserkers.

Maya had resuscitated James and he was good as new and had gone to school the following morning. There, he met Alicia again, she has been Sean’s spy on James’ activities because she was compelled to obey him as her alpha.

“Hello champ!” Alicia called out just as James closed his locker.

“Hello Alicia, long time no see!” James said to Alicia.

“ You’ve been avoiding me all this while. Did I do anything wrong?” Alicia asked.

“ Oh no, not exactly what you think, I’ve just been busy with school stuff and with the competition coming up and the preparations too. It has been overwhelming and I’ve hardly had enough time for myself. So what’s up?. How’re you holding up?.”James asked her.

“ I’m good! I was wondering if we could spend some time after school today. There’s something I would actually want you to help me with.” Alicia asked as she was trying to lure James into staying beyond school hours so he can be attacked. Sean has been using Alicia to get to James and wanted to capture him with his newly acquired warriors. Since, it was in school and it had to do with academics, James offered to help but only before it gets dark. Alicia was beginning to like James, in fact, she was werewolf with a good heart but her loyalty to her alpha’s commands was very strong and she wished she could do something about it. When class activities ended for the day and everyone went home, it remained Alicia and James in the school’s studying room. Danny wasn’t in school that day because he was not feeling too well. James was supposed to stop over at Danny’s and see how he was doing but because of Alicia’s request he completely forgot and didn’t even know when it became dark.

It wasn’t long before strange movements and sounds were heard from the school’s lobby. There were movements like running animals from the ceilings and it was Sean and his werewolves. The school was empty and they had the liberty to operate without being seen. Quickly, Sean packed his things and started making it out of the study room till he saw one giant berserker at the end of the corridor, he tried to use the other end but saw Sean and the remaining two berserkers behind him. He was caught in a crossfire and didn’t know what else to do, he tried to go back into the study room and break out through the window but Alicia attacked him unawares and punched him down to the floor. He was so surprised and for back up, it was him against everyone and he couldn’t do it all alone.

“Why?” James asked Alicia who was feeling sorry for having deceived him.

“ I’m so sorry, please forgive me!” Alicia pleaded with James. But it was too late for her to make any amends to the damages she had already caused.

“The Zolok!, We meet at last. I am interested in seeing how powerful they say you are. I have had stories of what you can do and I want to see you pull through against me and these great warriors” Sean said.

“ Don’t ever think I don’t know who you are and what you great evil you have done to this world. When the time is right, I’ll definitely put you where you belong and liberate this world from your treachery.” James said to Sean.

“ well, what are you waiting for. I’m right here, come and get me!”

James picked himself up immediately and engaged the werewolves who had come to capture him in a fight. The werewolves were easily taken out but the berserkers proved a tougher adversary as they kept coming. One of the berserkers broke free from James hold and clamped him against a wall while the other two were hitting him in turns. They hit him so much that he fell to the ground and it was like he had been killed or passed out. Sean was very pleased with the berserkers, that was a real fire power and exactly what he needed. Aa James fell to the ground, the berserkers thought they had subdued him and turned their backs on him. Few seconds later, James rose up on all fours and evolved into his beast form with his red glowing eyes and claws. This time he growled in his supreme beast roar same as the one he used the day he unleashed his power and all the creatures were temporarily stunned. This gave him enough time break out from the window and escaped before they could realize themselves. Sean was hypnotized by the road as well but was first to regain consciousness.

“Don’t let him get away, Bring me that son of a b***h!” Sean commanded his soldiers who then went after James but he was long gone. Surely it came as a great surprise as Sean never expected him to be capable of pulling off such great skill. James was terribly hurt hurt but he healed up immediately and returned home. He explained to his mum about his encounter with Sean and his men. He had never seen such creatures who was immune to every strike he launched and fought with great ferocity and rage.

" mum, what could those creatures be ?. they were so powerful that all my attacks seemed to be useless on them. They didn't look like they were going to give up."

James tries to explain to Neemah.

"what did they look like?" Neemah asked trying to find out what species or kind of creatures he was talking about.

" They had animal skulls and wore bones. They wielded Spears and had such a strong scent. They were very tall in height, taller than average human " James explained the features of the berserkers as best as he could.

" There are only one type of creatures that could fit your description but they were said to be extinct for centuries. They originated from Mexico. If they are really berserkers, then someone with great power must have summoned them and we have a very serious problem as berserkers are very strong creatures" Neemah said as she tries to look into the bestiary to find out clues on how to defeat berserkers.

"berserkers do not attack unless they're in danger or they are being controlled by the La Loba, a person with the ability to control or make berserkers. If this claim is true, then he must have found a way to make more berserkers and which might be the only reason the berserkers have decided to pledge their allegiance to him" Neemah said as he continued reading about the ferocious beast.

"does it say how they could be killed because I already tried everything" James said as he came closer to look into the book held by his mum.

" They can be killed by pulling of their skulls or using their own daggers against them. They could also be blasted with grenades and bombs" Neemah said to James.

" we're are we gonna get grenades and bombs. surely, the police aren't gonna just give us grenades to blast some mythical beast said to have ceased existing." James said as he reiterated his concern.

" I have a friend who might be able to help us with that. For now, you have to be more careful and avoid them for now till we can be able to draft out a plan on how to deal with the situation. Neemah said.
