" What do we have here?? Kennedy!! I didn't expect you to come back from your vacation this soon! " Geneva heard Devon's teasing voice, and glanced at his coal black hair as he leaned on the door. She noticed Kennedy's uneasiness, and tried to help her. " Devon, What are you doing here? " Geneva walked to Devon, and Kennedy at the door. Devon's eyes roamed on her body. He scanned her like he scanned her before, at the forest. Geneva cleared her throat, and that made Devon look into her cocoa brown eyes. He plastered a smirk, and drawled, " Someone's looking pretty. " " Yeah. I know. Kennedy told me. Now, what are you doing here?" Geneva snapped. Devon's eyebrows raised up high but he stood straight. " Shaye told me to take you downstairs. As Giselle has some works to do. " He replied, straightening his dark blue coat, which ended just below his hip. " Sure. Then, let's go. " Geneva said, walking forward. Kennedy gave her space and backed away from the door, her head lowered down. Devon reached his hand out for Geneva to take. She placed her hand on his, and he looped her hand with his before giving a smile. Geneva didn't move. She looked back at Kennedy, and called her. Kennedy looked up at Geneva. " Don't lower your head for the people who don't deserve your respect. " Geneva commented. Kennedy gave a firm nod, and slightly raised her chin. Geneva smiled and said, " Good. " Geneva then nodded at Devon, who was watching the ladies curiously. " Huh. I like you.. I like you very much. Women should support women. " Devon nodded his head with approval. " We shouldn't let the King wait. " Geneva said. Devon nodded again, and they started into a stroll.
" I can still hear your fast heartbeat. " Devon said out of the blue when they were far away from her room. " I am in a mansion with two wolves. What do you think that will make me feel? " Geneva said, raising her brow. " How can you talk so much now? You couldn't even utter your name back in the forest. " Devon asked as his eyes flitted to Geneva. " Well, I was scared that time. " " You are still afraid of us. Don't deny the truth. " " I wasn't going to. But... I want to meet my family. So, I decided to stick it out here as long as I can. And I don't think I can stick here long if I act as a mouse. " " Hmm. You know a lot of things for a girl who has lost her memories. Are you pretending to be lost? So that you can stay close to me? " Devon whispered the last part near her ears, his voice low and deep. " Don't think so highly of yourself, Mister. Wolf. " Geneva said. Devon let out a chuckle. " You are calling me Mister. Wolf? Then what will you call Shaye? " " The Wolf King. " Geneva answered. " Fair enough. " Devon shrugged a shoulder. They stopped at the top of the stairs. Shaye's eyes snapped towards her as soon as her smell hit his nose. Their eyes met, and his obsidian orbs held her to her place. " Ooohhh. Looks like you've got the King's attention again. " Devon smirked. " Why is he always in his beast form? " Geneva frowned. " He likes his beast. That's why. " Devon answered, and they started descending the stairs. Shaye's eyes didn't leave Geneva's but she was looking everywhere else except at him. Shaye was seated on a rectangular flat golden platform, which was surrounded by golden railings. And there was a small door that opened, and closed, whenever a servant walked in and out of the rectangular space. But what caught Geneva's attention, was a tall, slender chair, which was just beside the square golden platform. The golden throne was padded with white seat, and the back of the chair too was cushioned with white. The arms of the throne chair had big lion's heads. The cresting rail of the throne was carved into a big owl's face, which had two pointed golden finials on either side. Devon led Geneva to her throne chair, beside the King.
The chairs matched perfectly side by side. But Geneva shifted in her seat uncomfortably, which caught Shaye's attention. " Is there any problem? " The Wolf King asked. " No. I was just wondering why the hell am I sitting on a throne beside a King? I mean, this place is only reserved for the Queen. Won't your lover get mad? " Geneva asked in a hushed voice. Shaye's shoulder shook but Geneva couldn't see his face as it was lowered. " I don't have a lover, Miss. Rivers. " Geneva got the hint of amusement in Shaye's voice. " Am I humouring you enough, your majesty? " Geneva asked. " Yes. You are sitting on my mother's throne chair. Yes it IS reserved for the Queen but you're my guest. And until I announce someone as my Queen, no one is going to spread any rumour. Relax. They won't dare to spread any rumour about me and you. " Shaye said. " Because you're the King? " Geneva raised her brow. " No. Because they are scared of me. The people outside the mansion think I'll tear their head off if they make any mistake. " Shaye blatantly said. " Well, will you? " Geneva asked. " What do YOU think, Miss. Rivers? " Shaye asked as he turned his big wolfy head to gaze at her. " I think you won't. " Geneva said, leaning on the back of the chair. " And why do you think that? " Shaye asked. " Because you are kind. You're helping me after all. And you don't even know me. So, you must treat your people with care and love, too. " Geneva said. " But my people don't think that. And my people doesn't only include of werewolves, Miss. Rivers. I rule the humans, too. As you have seen that the maids that were sent to you are humans. As long as the humans stay in my territory, I rule them. The humans are scared of me. No matter how kind, and care, and love I show them. " Shaye said. " That's unfair. " Geneva commented. " I don't care what they think, Miss. Rivers. I crave power and wealth. Not anyone's pity. " " Well, that must be lonely then, Your majesty. " Shaye's eyes dropped from her face. Geneva took a glance of him, and saw him thinking on something deeply. " Yeah. Yeah, it is. Sometimes. " Shaye whispered lowly. But before Geneva could tell him anything, people started arriving at the grey mansion. " You will surely meet with your family, Miss. Rivers. " Shaye said, his eyes at the front, standing straight to meet his people. " You can call me Geneva. " She said, and quiet down. Geneva's eyes were so focused on finding anyone that would seem familiar, or even look like her or trigger her memories, that she didn't notice Shaye's eyes that admired her closely, his walls lowering down, and his loneliness slightly scattering away from him.
The line was long, and whispers were hitting the walls of the grey mansion and reaching Shaye's wolf ears. " She is so beautiful. Just like Snow White." " What is she doing with the wolf king? " " I hope she is our daughter. And the wolves got her name wrong. " " I would like to spend a night with her. " " I would love to spend two nights with her. " " Fine. Who will win her, will share her with the other. " These whispers boiled Shaye's blood, and heated him up. His fur shimmered with heat, which heated Geneva up, too. " SILENCE! " Shaye's voice boomed in the filled mansion, and shook Geneva to her core. The whispers stopped instantly, and Geneva watched the wolf King with wide eyes. He took a step forward, and that made all of the people back away few steps. The guards were at the front line, and also surrounding the mansion walls. The wolves smelled the fear of all the people present in the mansion. " Giselle, please make them understand that if they can't be quiet, I'm going to have to do something that they won't like. " Shaye said to the boss of the maids, who was standing beside Shaye. Giselle nodded, and barked Shaye's words to the people waiting in the lines. They lowered their heads, and behaved after that. The broad golden chain, and the line of guards were separating the dais from the people. The guards stepped away when Shaye ordered them to. The long, broad, strong golden chain opened, and the first two people stepped close to the dais. Then another, and another. Some saw her and went away because it was not the girl that they lost. Some still tried to claim her theirs by guessing. Some wanted to adopt her. Some wanted to take her to have a sleepless night. Then, when Shaye lost his last patience, another couple, who were in their 50s, stepped close to the dais. They bowed to him, and said, " That is our girl, your majesty. " " What proof do you have? " Shaye asked. The woman looked at the man. They gulped. Shaye shook his head slowly as he grinded his teeth. " Listen everyone, we need proof that you know her. I am not going to waste my f*ck*ng time here for nothing or some hooligans to claim her as their own just by thinking that they can earn money by selling her or spend the night with her!! Show me proof or get out!! " Shaye's calm but intimidating voice slightly shuddered the grey mansion, and the people scurried out of the building, giving the girl pity looks. They wondered if the wolf king was just pretending to give her to her family and not ever going to let her go. Some were there to take her away just to protect her from the cruel wolf king, who loses his temper every once in a while. They gave Geneva apologetic looks and left the castle. Although they wanted to help her, they won't be able to help her if they die or the wolf eats them.
When the mansion was almost cleared, Shaye sighed. Another couple in their 40s came up to the wolf king whose head was already simmering with hot lava. " Your majesty? " The man called, his voice slightly shaking with fear. Hope somewhat bubbled up in Geneva's chest, and she sat up straight. They wouldn't be that dumb to go against Shaye's orders, right? So, they must be it. The woman looked like her. Had her cocoa brown eyes, and her oval face was just like Geneva's. The woman caught Geneva's eyes, and smiled softly. Yes!! She IS her mother. She must be!!! She feels so.... Motherly. Her face held gentle admiration for her daughter. Geneva can't be that wrong, for sure. Geneva raised her chin, and returned the woman's smile. " She is our daughter. " The man standing beside the woman said, his voice held no doubt, only confirmation. Still Shaye asked, " Do you have any proof? " " I drew a coloured butterfly on her back, just beside her left armpit. " The man said. " Giselle, would you please check Geneva's back? " Shaye asked Giselle, who nodded. She went to Geneva, who stood as fast as she could, her eyes on the couple who claimed to be her parents. Giselle opened the chain of her gown, and looked for a butterfly. " Yes, your majesty, a butterfly is there. " Giselle answered, and chained the gown up. Shaye frowned. " How is the butterfly still there? Did you put spell on that? " He asked. " Yes, your majesty. Not on the butterfly but on the paint with which I drew on her back. When she was little, I drew the butterfly with paint that was enchanted by a Potion maker. It will never wear off. It will be there until her body.... Dissipates. " The man felt uncomfortable talking about her daughter being dissipated. " Fine. So, tell me what colour it is? " Shaye asked. " It is of blue, pink, and black. " The man answered, to which the woman nodded, tears welling up in her eyes, and her lips trembling. Shaye turned his questioning look to Giselle. She gave a firm nod, and it was confirmed. " They are telling the truth, aren't they? " Geneva's eyes sparkled. Shaye nodded his head. " So, can I go? " She asked. " Yes. Of course. Guards step away. Let Miss. Rivers pass. " Shaye ordered. The guards stepped away, and Geneva rushed to her parents. They hugged her with so much care, and love, that it remembered Shaye of his parents. Giselle noted the King's distress, and whispered, " So, What are we going to do with her? " " She's not leaving tonight. Doll her up, and tell her to be ready for dinner. We will have dinner together. " Shaye said, and jumped off of the platform, and sauntered to his room. Geneva was busy getting kisses, and warm hug from her parents. Giselle ordered the guards to take her away from her parents. When they went to do just that, Geneva shouted, "No! What are you doing? " " It's King's order, My lady. You are not to leave tonight. " One of the Guard replied. " But why? " Geneva whimpered. " Shut your mouth, Miss. Rivers. Come with me! " Giselle snapped at her, and clicked her fingers together to gesture the guards to follow her. Geneva was again taken away from her parents. " Wait! Where are you taking her? " The couple shouted. The guards held them back, from their daughter. " Mother! Father!" Geneva cried out but the guards were already dragging her away from them.
