Chapter 1&2♥️
..."What!!! Nana why???" Rebecca asked her grandmother as she stared at her in shock and confusion
"Your teachers advised me to take you to a better school, because of your impressive grades dear and moreover, I was already planning on relocating. This place is starting to get suffocating." Her grandmother replied and patted her hair lightly.
"But..but that's not enough reason why we should relocate. How are we gonna start? We don't know anyone there, I don't know anyone there. How will I tell Samantha and Chris about this? What about little Zoey? Huh Nana?" Becca asked worriedly.
"Listen my dear, change is something that you should always expect. And most times, change is a good thing. You have to move outta your comfort zone once in awhile and you'll be surprised at the end. You will make friends there too. And I've spoken to Zoey's mother, she understands and she'll find a new home tutor for Zoey.."
"Nana,, I'm.. I'm not happy about this though. And I'm not happy you sold our home. Okay, so where will we stay over there?" Rebecca asked.
"I've handled all that my dear. I'm doing this all for your own good. If you get that scholarship at Green-Spring High School, it'll open a lot of doors for you dear" Nana said and Rebecca sighed softly.
"I know Nana, it's just.."
"You never planned to leave here so soon?" Nana completed Becca's sentence.
"Yeah I didn't" Becca said and her Nana hugged her.
"I understand dear, but I promise you'll not regret it, okay?" Nana said and Becca nodded and hugged her back.
**ABOUT ONE HOUR LATER**
"What do you mean by you're moving out?!.." Chris sprang up from the sofa after she dropped the bômb.
"Becca, you're leaving?" Samantha asked in a low tone. Anyone could tell she was hurt.
"I'm not happy about this either but my Nana has already made her decision and I'm not sure I can change her mind. She wants to enroll me into a better school there so that I can get a scholarship. You know things aren't easy for us. My Nana won't be able to afford college fees so I have to study hard for a scholarship.."
"I understand Becca. But.. but I'm gonna miss you.." Samantha burst into mild sobs and hugged Rebecca who started sobbing too.
"Promise me you'll never forget me.." Sam asked amidst her tears
"I promise"
"You'll always call me?"
"I will.."
"You'll visit every summer?"
"I promise Sam but please stop crying. I feel really guilty right now" Becca said and wiped Sam's tears then took off her glasses to wipe hers too.
Her gaze shifted to Chris who was looking outside the window with his fists clenched tightly.
"Chris.." Becca called softly and he turned.
He approached her and hugged her unexpectedly. She smiled and hugged him back.
"Stop trying to act strong cutie face, I Know you'll miss me" Becca said and pulled his cheeks.
"Stop calling me that... and leave my cheeks alone" Chris said but deep down, he blushed hard.
"FaceTime with the two of us every evening, call me every day, always reply my texts, visit every summer and let me know if anyone tries any shît with you over there. Am I understood?" Chris raised a brow and Becca chuckled..
"Yes 'Daddy' I've heard you. Now come give a final hug." Rebecca pinched his cheeks again and hugged him.
"Don't say it that way, I don't like that word 'final'.." Chris muttered and Rebecca apologized in a whisper.
Samantha jumped on them to hug them and they all fell down..
"Gawwwdd! You two are so heavy!" Chris groaned and the girls laughed.
Chris sighed inwardly as he stared at the smiling Becca. His heart had shattered to a million pieces. Only heknows how he feels about Rebecca leaving him..
"Okay. Let's go help your Nana finish packing up.."
That evening, Rebecca and her grandmother were set to leave. Everyone had come out of their house to wish them safe travels. Rebecca was well known in the neighborhood because she was the kindest girl around.
Rebecca was graced with red hair which she got from her mother, well, that's what her Nana said as she never saw her mother since she was born. Rebecca's cute glasses added more to her beauty as she stood out wherever she went and people wouldn't stop talking about her uniqueness.
She was also a really nice person as she tutored some neighbor's kids who were academically down for free and also helped people the way she could. The town was really small and everyone lived as a family.
"Becca please take this, I made it myself with lots of love.." Zoey whom Becca had been tutoring said and handed a box of cookies to her. She was sobbing silently and Becca squatted to her level.
"Thank you so much Zoey, but please stop crying. If you cry then I'll cry too." Becca said and Zoey embraced her emotionally.
"I'll miss you so much. I don't want any other home tutor. If you go, I won't study anymore." Zoey threatened with her tiny hoarse voice.
"Don't say that Zoey. Okay, let's make a deal.. If you pass your promotional exams this term, I'll come here and take you with me for the summer vacation.."
"Really?? You'd do that??" Zoey's eyes lit up
"Yes I would. So would you study?"
The little girl nodded and gave Becca a final hug.
Becca and her Nana got into the car and the driver drove off, looking back to a group of well wishers waving their hands and a heartbroken Chris whose dreams were shattered.
It was a long and quiet ride as Rebecca was going through pictures with her friends on her phone and her Nana was deep in thought. They both had what they were thinking about but Becca never knew what exactly bothered her Nana.
Her Nana was the only family she had. Her Nana was her mother's mother who has been taking care of her for her 17 years. Although she had longed to see her parents, her Nana tried her best to make her feel comfortable and happy and as time went by, Becca stopped asking about her parents and focused on her life with her Nana which so much relieved her Nana.
After hours of flashback from both females, the driver announced that they had arrived at their destination.
It was raining slightly and Becca loved the sight of the clean neighborhood while it was raining. Their new house was so beautiful and looked more modern. The garden was a sight to dïë for as there were beautiful flowers especially Roses, Becca's favorite flower.
"Nana, this is so beautiful. I love the garden and the environment... It's beautiful" Becca said with a beaming smile
"I knew you'll love it sweetheart. Now c'mon take your luggage, let me show you your room.."
Becca's Nana took her to a beautiful room which screamed "wow!" as it was painted purple 💜. The curtains were light-purple in color, the sheets were purple, the closet had a touch of purple. Seemed like her Nana had well prepared her room..
"Awwwn... Nana this is beautiful.. thank you so much.."
"You're welcome dear. Freshen up and come to the kitchen. Dinner won't make itself.."
"Okay Nana.." Becca said and she dashed into the bathroom. She was always the one to make dinner for her Nana and wanted to keep that custom. The bathroom was just perfect for her as it was in a girly style.
After bathing, she changed into a black knee length gown and tied her red hair into a ponytail. She kept her glasses inside its case then went into the kitchen. She heard her Nana complaining about the lack of food items in the kitchen. She offered to go get them in the nearby store..
"Are you sure my dear, it's really cold outside and it's raining..."
"No worries Nana, I'll put on my jacket. And besides, the rain has reduced so there's nothing to worry about.."
"Okay dear, take my credit card.. you remember how to use it right?.."
"Yes I do.. bye Nana. I'll be right back.." Becca said as she picks up her jacket and goes outside. She enjoyed being under the rain right from young.
She walked to the store which was just few blocks away from her house. The size of the store got her gasping. She had never seen such a large sized store in her home town. She almost got lost in the store and she had to ask for help to locate the things she needed. After getting everything, she paid for them using her Nana's card and went outside.
She started walking really slowly as she wanted to enjoy her time under the rain and then SPLASH!! A car passed by her and splashed dirty water all over her body and the woman walking close to her...
"What the h£ll!!.." Rebecca yelled furiously seeing her state.
The car didn't even bother stopping and that infuriated her the more. She picked up a nearby stone and swiftly threw it at the car which hit the side mirror of the car and broke it.
The person driving stopped the car and reversed coming back to her direction. She waited furiously for the person to come. The car stopped next to her and a blonde beautiful girl of about her age came out of the front seat...
"What the fû*k did you just do you mád girl?? Do you know how much this costs?? Are you nûts?." The blonde girl yelled after seeing the state of the side mirror.
Becca pushed her away and spoke..
"I don't have time to talk to you. I want to talk to the person driving. Doesn't that person have manners and respect for people? How can he drive so fast when he knows it's raining? Look what he did to me and that lady walking away over there?.."
"And so? Poor people like you don't deserve any form of respect... Y'all are stinky people and the water might just wash away your filth. And is that the reason you ruined the mirror of this car?? Your stûpid generation can't even afford this sort of car!"
The girl didn't even blink twice when Rebecca landed a hot slap on her face..
"Heyyyyyyy!!!.." the girl screamed holding her cheek..
She had turned as red as Rebecca's hair and was fuming with anger 😡..
"That slap was just a little taste of your own medicine.. learn how to respect people whether rich or poor... Rich brats like you are to be handled in a rough and tough way!!
And you!! (Becca went over to the driver's window and knocked hard on it) Wind down you jêrk!!.."
(The driver did so and Becca saw a blonde guy still about her age who was undeniably handsome)..
"I wonder who gives måd people a car to drive! Are you nuts? How can you drive like a ghøst was chasing you? Don't you have regards for people?.."
"Listen beautiful, I'm on my way to the club so I don't want to waste my time talking to you! It's money you want right? Just name your price coz maybe those are the only clothes you have... Or,, I'm sure this is just a strategy to spend the night with me?.." the guy said..
Rebecca was so disgusted at the rubbïsh the guy just said. She immediately spat on his face and said..
"Use that to take care of your disgusting fåcè.. you really need it!!.."
She walked away angrily while the two blondies were fuming with anger. But what was on their mind was how to explain what happened to the car to its owner..
