Alpha Cade POV

Today has been hell, my wolf Xavier won’t shut up and I have the worst headache. Ever since I turned 15 and shifted he has been going on and on about Kate. He has some infatuation with her that I can’t comprehend. She is low in our pack and is bullied by everyone.

“I’m f*****g fuming man, you’re never going to believe what happened today” my Beta Eric practically growls. Gosh what crawled up his ass today.

“Kate f*****g Sinclair sat by me in history today. Like who the f**k does she think she is?! Then after class she actually stared directly into my eyes. She held it for 2 minutes! My wolf and I have no clue how she did that and I was livid. If it wasn’t for my wolf Adam, I would have torn her to pieces”

At that note, Xavier takes control without my permission and grabs Eric by the throat and throws him against my truck. He’s growling and showing his canines.

“What the f**k, Cade?!” He yells

“First, you are speaking with Xavier and you will always address me as Alpha. Is that clear wolf?!”

“Yes alpha” Eric replies

“Second, you will keep your hands and eyes off of Kate. If I ever even hear you say her name again I will rip you to shreds.” He drops him to the ground and turns around just in time to make eye contact with Kate herself.

“Xavier, dude. You need to give me back control. I don’t know what that was about but Eric is our Beta and he did nothing wrong.” I try to reason with my wolf. Xavier growls in my mind at me and replies,

“Mate” and gives me back control. Uh, mate? What the f**k. I don’t see Stacy anywhere and I was pretty sure we would be mates when she became 18 and got her wolf. Plus, how would he know any of the she-wolfs here was his mate. None of them are of age yet. I’m deep in thought and come back to when I realize I’m in deep eye contact with Kate and glaring. She is holding my stare and I can’t tell whether I’m angry with her or impressed with her. I see what Eric was saying now. I want to be mad that she is challenging me but my wolf almost admires her.

“Mate” Xavier growls.

“What?! Mate? Who?!” I yell

“Mate! Kate! Stupid human” he sneers

“What?! What the f**k do you mean Kate is our mate?! She is way below us and isn’t worthy of being Luna. There is no way in hell! Plus, she is not of age and doesn’t have her wolf yet. How would you even know if she was our mate?!” I practically yell at him in our mind. Now I really have a headache.

He turns off his mind-link and refuses to speak to me. My brain is twirling and I’m so confused. I can’t get Kate off my mind now. I drive back to the pack house and go straight up to my room and just lay there processing.

This can never work. Kate can’t be my mate. The pack will never accept her. I mean, she is beautiful. Like drop dead gorgeous but just no. Plus, there is Stacy. My girlfriend and my supposed future Luna who I really thought would be my mate. I have to reject Kate. This isn’t how things were supposed to be.

“NO! I will not let you reject her. She is our mate and she is perfect. I will never let you reject our other half!”

“Xavier, the pack will never accept her. She’s been bullied and below all of us our entire lives. This will never work! And what about Stacy?!”

“Stacy is nothing. I have never liked her and you know it. She just wants power and she is not our mate. We will make the pack accept Kate. As long as we do, they will follow us. She will be the perfect mate and the perfect Luna. Gosh, I can’t wait to meet her wolf”

Ugh, I turn off my mind-link and try and take a nap. He is so frustrating, it’s like he can’t think straight since we saw her today. Why can’t he understand what I’m thinking?

Maybe I’ll have Stacy over tonight to get my mind off things I think as I drift off to sleep of dreams filled with Kate.
