A run in with the Beta

I rush into school, lucky I still have two minutes till the first bell. Thanking the moon goddess for giving me Faith earlier and me using her speed to haul ass here. I get to my locker and get the books I need for my first class, history. I actually enjoy this class and Mrs. Blackstone so I’m glad I’m on time. She is one of the only teachers who treat me kindly and like everyone else. Shutting my locker, I turn and run straight into Stacy. My books fall to the ground and she looks pissed. Stacy is the Betas daughter and the soon to be alphas girlfriend and let me just tell you, she’s the worlds biggest b***h. She makes my life hell and I’ve never done anything to her. I guess that’s normal in my life. I drop to my knees and start picking up my books avoiding eye contact with Stacy.

“Watch yourself w***e” she sneers. I have no idea why they call me that. I have never had a boyfriend or really anyone besides my best friend.

“I’m sorry Stacy. It was an accident, I didn’t see you.” I replied. I’d rather be nice so I can get on my way. I try not to make things worse for myself around here.

“An accident?! How could you not see me? I mean look at me! You need to watch your back. I’m tired of your presence around here. I can’t wait till I become Luna and banish your ass” she laughs with her friends and proceeds to smack all the books out of my hands back to the floor.

“I will f*****g kill her! Let me show myself and I’ll handle this issue Kate!” Faith fumes.

Luckily, the bell rings and Stacy and her friends head off to class. I pick up my books and run to history hoping I’m not too late now.

I walk into class and since I’m late, all the seats are taken except one next to the soon to be beta in the back. Gosh, can this day get any worse. He and the soon to be Alpha HATE me. I’m really thinking about turning around and just leaving until Mrs Blackstone acknowledges me.

“Miss. Kate, how nice of you to join us. Please take a seat so I can start my lesson.”

I walk over and slump in the seat next to Beta Eric, he gives me a dirty look and turns away.

The class goes by pretty quickly with Mrs Blackstone talking about the Moon Goddess and what to expect with our upcoming shifts here in the next few weeks. The men tune out as they have already shifted but with two weeks left of school and graduation around the corner, most of us she-wolves will be turning of age and getting ready to shift. Faith and I were pretty silent listening and getting excited about the future, daydreaming of what our life will become. The bell rings and we all begin packing up our stuff. A tall shadow stops in front of my desk and I look up to see Beta Eric standing in front of me. He’s definitely hot, long blonde hair that scrapes his eyes and bright blue eyes. Muscles upon muscles, if he wasn’t such a colossal jerk I might even feel attracted to him. I stare at him waiting to hear whatever insult he is about to throw when I realize I have been staring right into his eyes, which is a sign of disrespect and a challenge! f**k, f**k, f**k! How were we even able to do that with the dominance I feel rolling off him. He is seething anger when he picks me up by the throat and slams me into the wall behind me.

“I don’t know what you think you’re doing she wolf but do not ever sit by or look at me again. You are not worthy of the air I breathe and the next time it happens I will beat you bloody”

“Yyes Beta” I stutter looking down, willing the tears not to fall until I am by myself. That is one thing I refuse to give this pack. I will not give them the satisfaction of seeing my tears. He drops me and I fall to the floor not leaving until the rest of the class has before I pick up my bag and rush to my next class.

“I’m tired of listening to their disrespect Kate. You will stop taking it. You are better than them and it is time they found that out”

“Faith, I’m not better than them. I am just a girl, a nobody from a nobody family. I am no where near better especially to the beta! How did we even stare him in the eye for so long?! He could have interpreted that into a challenge and killed us right there! What are you thinking!?”

She shut off her mind-link and stopped talking to me. Fine by me, I don’t know what has gotten into her lately. Her bitchy side is coming out full force and it’s going to get us killed.

The rest of the day goes off with out a hitch and I’m able to stay hidden in the shadows. Thank the goddess, today has been bad enough. The final bell rings and I walk to my locker to put my books away and head to the front doors. Walking through the parking lot, there he is, soon to be Alpha Cade. Goddess he is sexy, 6 foot tall, muscles for days and brown unruly hair that looks like he’s ran his fingers through them all day, and to top it off bright blue eyes that you could get lost in. He looks up and we make eye contact and I about scream. I have never caught his attention before and this can not be good. For some reason, I stop walking and hold his glare. I have no idea what I am doing but I just can’t look away.

“Goddess, he is the sexiest wolf out there. I want to lick down his scruffy jaw all the way to his forbidden man scapes.” Faith purrs. She actually freakin purrs! What is going on with her today. My eyes widen as I realize what she just said and that I am still staring at Alpha Cade. I hurry to turn around and get the hell out of there! I have a shift at the cafe in a hour and a half and need to get my homework done before than anyways. I can only hope father isn’t home when I make it there. I don’t think I can handle any more abuse today.
