Loving My Enemy

7 years ago Emily just moved in a new city with her parents and her little sister because of her father’s job. She was excited because it was her first day of school, and also her first day of fifth grade. At the same time , with the excitement also came the nervousnes . She was going to a new school , with new teachers , and new classmates . Half an hour later, Emily and her father were in school’s parking lot . “Are you ready ?” her father asked her . “I think so ...” she responded in a nervous voice. “Okay, let’s go then.”said her father and both exited the car. Not so far from their car were a father and a son. Emily didn’t knew who they were ,but her father did . When they were close enough he said “Good morning Mr. Westwood !” said her dad “ Good morning Mr. Brown!” replied Mr. Westwood. “I presume that you are Emily” said him , this time addressing to the little girl . “Yes sir, I’m Emily “ replied her a little nervous . Emily didn’t knew the man by his looks, but she understood imediately that the man in front of her was her father’s boss, because of his name. “Nice to meet you , I’m Alexander Westwood “ said Mr Westwood “Nice to meet you too. If I’m not wrong you’re dad’s boss “ stated her.”Yes ,I am . If I’m not wrong you’re in fifth grade , don’t you?” asked me Westwood. “Yes ,she is.” answered Emily’s dad for her. “Then , I’d like to introduce you to my son , Nathan, he’s also in fifth grade .” motioned the man to the boy next to him. “Nice to meet you Nathan!” said the little Emily hoping that she could make some friends, only for her wishes to be smashed in her face by the boy saying “Yeah...whatever...” “Nathan! It’s not politely to say something like that. Now apologize to her and behave, you two are probably classmates !” Mr Westwood scolded his son. “I’m sorry for the way I’ve talked. Nice to meet you too , Emily” said him in a bored voice while reaching to shake her hand. With what just happened , Emily was 100% sure that Nathan will nerver be her friend. Their fathers chatted a little more while making their way to the school’s gate. After the two children were in the classroom and nobody could hear them ,Nathan turned around abruptly and confirmed what Emily was thinking by saying “ I want to make everything clear for you from the beginning , I don’t want to be friend with someone like you , but I will be nice to you in the presence of our parents. I have one more thing to say, if my parents find out about this conversation or the fact that I don’t want to be your friend , and I’ll be in trouble, I will make your life a living hell” . With that ,he left without waiting for a response . Emily was stunned by what just happened , expecting him to say that he doesn’t want to be her friend, but not expecting to be threatened. After shaking her head a little she tried to act like nothing happened , but she couldn’t pull herself together to do it. While she was drowning herself in her thoughts she didn’t realized that a girl was approaching her “Hi , I’m Maria . What’s your name?”. Only when the girl spoke Emily realized that someone was beside her , talking to her. “ Hi, I’m Emily “ said her in a voice that was quite upset. That’s when Maria understood that something happened to her and she tried to find out what made her this upset . “Hey, why are you so upset ?” “Nothing “ she said after she looked very fast in the direction of the person that was responsible for her bad mood, something that didn’t went unobserved by Maria. That’s when something clicked and she made the connection between her bad mood , the glance to Nathan from a few seconds earlier , and the fact that when they arrived she saw that he was talking to her not exactly nice . “Hey , don’t be upset because of him.Nate is a jerk to almost everyone. Come , you can stay with me and my other two friends.” said Maria trying to make her forget whatever that jerk said to her.”Okay” Emily said in a more cheerful voice. “Hey , this is Emily , she is my new friend. Emily these are my other two friends Amelie “ said her and motioned to the girl with blonde hair and brown eyes. “ and Kaylie” this time motioning to a dark haired girl with light blue eyes . “Hi , nice to meet you, Emily “ said the two girls “Hi , you too , I hope that we will be all friends” said her ,much happier than before. “Of course, come sit with us” with that the four of them began chatting. The day flew by ending as a good day. - - - - - - Two weeks later the teacher paired the kids in groups of two for a project . Emily hoped that she could have one of her friends as partner for the project. She could never imagine who was in fact her partner. The fate decided to play a drangerous game and Emily and Nate will have to make the project together. The next day they will meet at his house to begin the project . Emily was nervous because she knew that he will most probably be hostile towards her ,and also she didn’t wanted to give him a reason to make her life a living hell . When they were in his bedroom with the door he decided to speak . “ For the beginning I want to say that you will do most of the work “ . Emily was shocked by his statement , she couldn’t utter a single word . “What are you doing? Do your job!” with that phrase Emily was shook out of her thoughts . Not long after she found her voice to say “But I don’t think it’s fair. We should do both the same amount of work on the project “ trying to convince him to help her with it . She was totally wrong if she thought that she could make him do something like this. “I don’t care if it’s fair or not, I’ll do as least as possible to complete this shitty project so I can say that I actually did something”. Once again Emily was treated like trash by him. “Why are you still not working ?” She didn’t said anything about it this time thinking that she can’t do anything about his awful attitude and he won’t do most of the work . Without wasting anymore time she started with the project . What they didn’t know was that Nate’s mother wanted to ask them if they needed something but then she heard the conversation between the two and decided to confront her son after Emily will leave. Two hours later Emily had decided that she should call her dad to come for her. After she left, Nate’s mother said “ Nathan come in the living room , we need to talk” “Coming!” said him shortly after. “Why were you so unpolitely towards Emily” questioned his mother. Nate was wondering how she knew about this . Than he thought , if it was Emily who said something to his mother before she left. If that was the case ,than everything will be hell for her if she near him. “But I haven’t done anything!” he tried to deny thinking that if Emily said something to her , she didn’t have any proof and he will get away with this. “Don’t even begin with this !” said his mother angrily. “But you don’t have any proof that I did something, because I haven’t done anything !” retorted him. “I don’t need any proof Nathan because ,I personally heard your conversation with her , you made her do all the work, and I know that she didn’t wanted to ,because I also heard her trying to explain to you that it’s not fair what you were doing. So don’t even think to say that she wanted to do it all by herself!” replied her leaving him shocked and without words. “But-“ he tried to say something but couldn’t finish being interrupted by his mother “I don’t want to hear anything else. You’re grounded.” “But it’s not fair..” “Yes, it is very fair. What you did was unfair!” With that his mother left him like this . That was the moment when the war truely begin and the hatred rose. - - - - - The next day Emily was met with a very pissed of Nate first thing when she arrived to school. She was confused until he decided to enlighten her saying” From today on your life will be hell and you’ll be my number one enemy , so watch your back because I won’t be ever nice to you!” “Why?What are you talking about?” “Because ,when we were in my room you decided to speak back to me and my mother heard the conversation. Now I’m grounded ,so be careful ‘cause if our parents will know something else ,beside what they already know ,not only that your life will be hell ,you’ll also be dead!” With that statement the hatred arose more ,but Emily didn’t knew that the next four years of her life will be literally hell on earth.
