CHAPTER THREE
I am in his car. On the passenger seat. Beside him. My heart is bursting with..... joy?
Why am I happy? Ugh.
"Are you still in the 3rd floor?" He ask.He shouldn't know my floor. I changed floor number.
"Ah, yes. Still there. Hehe. How about you?", casually looking at his face. "Still on the 4th?" And a little smile on my face.
He nodded at my question. "Yep. After the hike, I was planning to get together just us three, because we're neighbours but you all are in such a rush."
I gave him a quizzical look and unconsciously tilting my head. "Ah, no. I wasn't in a hurry. You're the one who says that it's work day. So you all call it a day." Then I pause. Then it hit me. It was Sia. I don't want to be so obvious, I continued what I was saying. "Sia told me that you're in a rush and she too in a rush. Don't bluff me." I said it jokingly.
"Ah, no." He responded jokingly too, and eyes on the road but I can see that his fist form a circle. I mentally raised my eyebrow. I wonder.
"Someone must have said something and pretty sure it wasn't me." Then turn his face at me and flash me that smile again. I'm melting.
"So, do you want to get some fresh air? I know a place and I think you'll like it."
I hesitated at first. Responded, "It's not too late for you?"
Then for the first time in years, I heard his laugh. A throaty one. "What are we, eight?"
Fool. Yes, I'm a fool to ask that kind of a question. Instead of feeling insulted. "Right." Now we're both laughing.
My heart feels warm. Something new and I don't know why this feeling keeps on creeping up on me every time he is around.
"Lead the way then." I am now smiling and feeling excited too. I've got alone time with him. Eeeeeek
As he drives the car, wherever he's taking me. We hit drive-thru and order a sandwich, fries and a coke.
"We should order as I am starving. Harold and Kish's announcement surprised me. Wasn't able to eat enough." Then he wink at me.
My eyes went normal to a perfectly letter o. Did he just wink at me? Was it flirting? Maybe it is just nothing? Right?
We had ordered and I think I'm all tomato now. Except I don't have a fair skin so probably I'm looking pale. I should say something.
"I am so happy for them. It's a dream come true. It has been years since they have been trying and now it's happening." With a smile on my face. I genuinely am happy for them. They deserve it.
"They sure deserve all of this." Nodding his head. "I have known Harold since college so I can say I have witness their love story before you."
I smiled and teasingly responded. "Yah yeah." Rolling my eyes at him.
He chuckled at my remarks. Did he just chuckle? My goodness, this man can chuckle?
"Yes, but in all seriousness. They both went through a lot. Did you know that Harold's parents don't approve of Kish during our college days?" My eyes went wide again. Now I'm hooked.
"From the look of your face. You don't know! Huh!" Teasing me again. "Kish was like a bad gal before. Well, I blame the people she's associating with before. But in spite all that, Harold saw the real Kish. The one that we are seeing now. Harold did bring out the best in Kish."
"Wow. That's some story. I am going to ask Kish about this." With a determined look. He smile again.
Then the car stop and I almost whine that our talk has been interrupted. When I take a look around. This place looks so familiar. He got out of the car.
"Aren't we in our condo's parking lot?" I take a look on the side where I usually park and there I saw my car. "We're going ho-"
The door on my side suddenly opens and I am back to facing his face again. I can never get use to this.
He greeted me with a smile and says. "We have arrived at our destination." I think he notice my confusion. So he continues. "I have something to show you here! Also, this is my secret hideout, now you know it. This is where I go when I just wanted to chill." There goes his smile again.
So I got out of the car. "Make sure this is going to be a great hideout ok?"
"You won't regret it." Now looking all so serious. I think I have seen all his sides in just one night, eh?
The elevator just open when I have just remembered that I have some food, that I left intentionally, on my car.
"Oh, wait. I have a food left on my car. You can go first. Which floor should I choose?"
"Oh, I can wait for you here." Then smiled at me.
"I'll be quick!" I then dash from the right and head to my car. Opened the car and grab my food, which is, bread. I am a lover of bread.
I dash back again and he's on a call. From the looks of his face he's not happy. "---done and you know that." This is what I have heard when I got nearer to the elevator.
Trying not to pry and so got in on the elevator and with a smile on my face, showed him the bread. And he laugh at me. He mumbles something and I didn't heard it. He press 10 and now I am more curious, probably the rooftop is his hideout. We were both quite but not the awkward silence.
"Ding!"
We're here and I'm following his back. I have just realised that he's so freaking tall. I am barely got to his shoulder. He looks so sturdy and I bet it would be amazing to lea-. I have pinch myself before I finish my thoughts. GET A GRIP.
"So, here we are." Opens the door on the rooftop and we walked a little and another door again this time a little small but enough space for him to fit.
I was captivated by the view when he opens the second door.
"Oh wow." I am now taking it all in. The view, the silence. The air. The city lights. The sound of the cars and ambulance, fading away.
"This is beautiful." I'm so fascinated. Or maybe it's because it is Phillip that's showing me this.
"Indeed, a beauty." I nodded and turn my head at him and there I realise, stopped my thoughts, he's not staring at the view. HE IS SO STARING AT ME. RIGHT?
I blinked. Trying to regain my senses then "WOW! Now I can feel my stomach too. I'm hungry now. Heheheh!"
"Aren't you hungry?" I ask him. He looks like something is going on his mind and well, his face said it all.
"Ahhh yes, super hungry! I'm starving." then he's all smile now.
There's a table and chair here too. You can literally just go here and chill. I smiled at myself. I love this set-up. There's this comfortable silent. A kind of silent that you don't need to say something. After that phone call he answered, his mood turns a little sour.
I feel a little worried. I want to ask, but I'm tongue-tied.
"Are you always here?" I ask him. Trying to break the silence. Also half eating. I don't feel like eating now.
"Well, since I got back, I'm always here. My favorite time of day to be here is the sunset."
Just wanted to savor this moment.
This beautiful moment.
A once in a lifetime moment with him.
This is so freaking rare.
I have known this guy for 2 years and I haven't had the chance to be near him. Let alone, just the two of us.
"I love sunsets." I respond.
"I know." Huh?
"Hmmm? why would you know?" giving him the curious look.
"Ahm, you mentioned it together with the group on our hike."
"Ahhhh, hehe." Did I ever share this information?
"Anyway, thanks for showing me this area. You should know that I might go here any time of day now." told him, jokingly. I have managed to eat my share.
He stands up. Then says,
"You are most welcome here, milady!'" then bows at me and gave me the biggest smile I have seen on him.
I am now laughing loudly. I am surely not myself right now. This is just tonight. Maybe he is lonely. I can feel it.
Temporary bliss.
