Kierras POV
I swam over to my dad gesturing for a guard to take the injured scout before questioning my dad. "What the heck happened?"
"Lisa came with a second army these are the only scouts that made it out. She sent a message, She has eyes everywhere. She knew about us waiting for her to come back and by now she's long gone the wall falling was so she could get in and out." My dad explained.
"Do they know which way she was headed or anything?" I asked.
"I'm sorry ma'am but I did not get the chance to follow we were ambushed so quickly me and Mark were the only ones to make it out." Explained the uninjured scout.
I linked my dad, "Are we sending this scout to be interrogated? I think it's odd that he's completely uninjured while his teammate is unconscious and all the other scouts were killed. Message or not he'd be beaten up a little bit."
My dad nodded then motioned for guards to grab the scout. "What? What are you doing? Why am I being detained? I haven't done anything!" The scout continued to scream as he was pulled out of the main hall and to the dungeon.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked my dad.
"Well first things first we need to get the medical hall cleared of debris and start repairing it there's not enough room in the egg room for the amount of injured. We also need to start to get rooms ready for merpeople who lost their homes to come stay in the palace until we get homes rebuilt." My dad said.
Guards that were just standing around had started to gather as my dad spoke. He had a way of commanding a room I've started to notice that Sierra also shares the talent. She'd make a great chief if she'd be willing to stay. I was more suited for the military.
Before I knew it there was groups of guards maids and merpeople who hadn't been injured spreading out to do the work my dad said needed done. Sarah was still watching Max and Sierra was helping take care of smaller injuries sending them to help where they could when they were done. Dillon and Char decided to come with me to clean debris.
It was hard work clearing out the medical hall. Luckily we had gotten a large section cleared before nightfall. A few rooms had managed to hold up and doctors had sent the worst patients there where it would be quiet. By the time my whole family, apart from Sarah, had gathered back together it was really late. We all looked worse for wear but we tried to smile at one another regardless.
It took another week before the debris was finally completely cleared from the medical hall.
Since it was done and merpeople we're starting repairs. Luckily each day more and more merpeople we're being cleared for work. Max and Sarah had finally got out yesterday and we're trying to help in the kitchen. Sierra was still busy with mom. Now that I was done with the medical hall I decided it was time to whip some of these guards into shape.
With the help of Char and Dillon I gathered twenty guards for day one. I put them through the same training that I put Dillon and Sierra through when they had decided to learn. I was extremely proud of Dillon for helping with posture and showing them tricks he used when I first started. But as the day progressed I realized just how lazy these guards had gotten.
It was taking "trained" guards twice as long to learn things Dillon and Sierra had learned. I decided me and Char would have to split up and Dillon could go between helping where he could. Two weeks later and they finally learned enough to hold a weapon properly. Luckily it seemed once they got the basic down the next week was easy to teach. Within three weeks we had forty personally trained guards.
With the new added and trusted guards I was able to send Char and five guards to check out what was left if Lisa's cave. We hadn't had enough trained personnel to go and check it any sooner. I wanted to go myself but my dad convinced me I should stay. Dillon went to guard Sierra with Liam who was back to full time guard of my mom. The rest of my guards were strategically placed around the palace to keep an eye and spy on everything.
I decided to go check on Max and Sarah. Max was finally talking now and had said he'd like to train the same way Dillon and Sierra as well as my guards had and I was going to tell him I had time to start today. Unfortunately I didn't make it before on of my guards stopped me.
"Ma'am I'm sorry to interrupt you but I have news." The guard said.
"Already? Well come on my dad wants to be altered with any information found out to." I said.
We walked in silence to the main hall finding my dad going over reports about the rebuilding of the wall and homes. "Dad, my guard said he has news."
My dad dropped what he had been doing and gave us his full attention. "Go ahead," he told my guard.
"I was placed within the military under Captain Samuel. Captain Samuel is training us for an upcoming battle against our own troops he intends to attack with Chieftess Lyla reaches us within the next two days. Lisa plans to have Chieftess Lyla murdered so she can take over the Artic ocean army she already has the support of nearly all the Captains there. He was explaining this to all the new recruits that joined today. I guess he didn't expect you would be watching your own military." My guard explained.
"Why is Chieftess Lyla on her way here anyways?" My dad asked.
"Max!" I yelled bolting out of the room. No one had bothered to interrogate Max. He seemed harmless when he came and then he saved Sarah. But I remember Sarah saying Lyla was in love with Max. He would be the only reason she would leave so soon after her coronation. Lyla hadn't even cared about her mother's life sentence.
I burst into the kitchen where Max and Sarah were giggling while preparing food for everyone. "Max I need to speak to you," I said approaching calmly torwards him.
"What's going on?" Sarah asked defensively trying to block me from Max.
"I'm sorry Sarah, please don't hate me I only did what I had to, to keep you safe," Max said swimming around Sarah facing me himself. "I'll go willingly and tell you everything I can." Max said.
"No!" Sarah yelled grabbing Max's wrist trying to stop him. "I just got you back I can't lose you!"
"I'm sorry Sarah." Max said before pulling his wrist from Sarah's hand following me out and back to my dad.
"Max?" my dad said questioningly.
"Yes chief, I will explain everything I can." He said. "I'll have to start from the beginning sir." My dad motioned for him to go ahead. "I fell for your daughter sir. Sarah is a beautiful and strong soul. But she was trapped and I was willing to do anything to save her. I mean anything. When we were caught I was sent to Lisa. For the first year I was tortured everyday. Then I was just left there I'd be fed once a day and sometimes guards would come in and torture me but for the most part I was forgotten. Then recently I was asked by Lisa what I'd do for Sarah. I told her I'd do anything. Lisa then said if I wanted to save Lisa I'd have to get close to you guys and let the Captains under her know the plan. I am to kill Lyla when she gets here and she will be here very soon. Then the captains will attach while your fighting your own civil war Lisa plans to attack with the Artic ocean army as they will be under her control by now she will assume that Lyla is dead when she gets here. She thinks I don't know but she did something to Dillon I'd I don't kill Lyla Dillon will even though he won't mean to. I wanted to tell someone but the longer I waited the more I realized I'd be killed for what I know. I will tell you the captains names but you have to promise to keep Sarah safe. Lisa will have her killed of Lyla lives she has spy's everywhere but I don't know who they are I only know the tem captains she has turned against you."
"Ten captains? She has half my captains under her control?" My dad asked.
"Yes sir, I'm sorry to ask but I need you to lock up me and Dillon if we fight killing Lyla we will kill your daughters." Max said.
Before he could say anything else I grabbed him and threw him to my guard. "I'll go get Dillon!" I yelled. I was furious. Leaving to get the potion was obviously a trap to get us out there and save Max and Dillon. We had brought danger to our own home. Grabbing a pair of cuffs I made my way to the medical hall.
I went through six rooms before I found Sierra and my mom with Liam and Dillon off in a corner watching them work. "Dillon I am so sorry please forgive me but I have to detain you."
"What!?!" Sierra and Dillon screamed at the same time.
"I'll explain on the way Sierra go ask dad and check on Sarah please." I sent her vibes to of sorrow and trust. She nodded leaving me to take Dillon.
"I really am sorry Dillon but your mom has used some sort of potion on you to force you to kill Lyla and if you fight it you'll be sent into a frenzy that won't stop till you kill Sierra." I explained.
"I would never hurt Sierra I don't care what my mom thinks she's done to me." Dillon started but I interrupted him.
"It's not something you can fight my dad is going to have to send for a sea witch to undo the potion. Lyla could be here any minute we have more to worry about than just you and Max so the best thing we can do till a sea witch can get here is to lock you guys up."
"Is there anything we can do at all?" Dillon asked.
"Right now the best thing to do is stay locked in the dungeon. I'm sorry there is just no other way. We have to replace ten captains as well as all of their trusted officials. We can't banish them right now cause they'll just go to Lisa so we will have to make lock them up to I don't know how many merpeople will be down there but I'll make sure you and Max have your own cells." I told him.
Dillon sighed but nodded. We made our way silently to the dungeon from there. Just as I said the dungeon was already being filled with military officials. Ten army's were having to be questioned anyone in power immediately taken to the dungeon and the lower men being interrogated. Those who were able to pass the interrogation would be divided between the ten captains who had no betrayed their own people.
After making sure that both Max and Dillon were as comfortable as they could be I went to find my sisters. Sarah and Sierra were holding each other when I found them. Sarah had never left the kitchen and Sierra didn't try to force her to she just held her. Sarah was obviously feeling betrayed right now after hearing what Max had said.
"Sarah, I'm sorry" I said not really knowing what to say. "When this is all over Max and Dillon will be released I promise." I told her and she pulled herself from Sierra flinging herself at me holding me tight.
"You promise? For sure?" she hiccuped between questions.
"Yes I'll make sure of it Max was only trying to protect you but he saved all of us by telling us what's going on. I'll make sure everyone knows he's a war hero when he's released it's not his fault he was forced to do this. You know he really loves you." I promised her.
Nothing more could be said as one of the guards I sent with Char burst through the doors.
"Ma'am you and your sisters are needed in the main hall Char has news!"
