Blythe:
I closed the door behind me after saying goodbye to Blaise. I couldn't seem to get the smile off of my face that had been their the entire evening. Blaise made my body feel like it never had before. All the feelings I felt while with him were foreign to me. It wasn't just love it was something more than that. He made me feel complete, whole, safe, loved, and so much more. It was life he was my protector. Like we were fated to be together. I didn't know what to make of all these feelings and thoughts I was having of him. My brain was still screaming at me to be careful and to protect my myself, but my heart and something else deep Inside of me was screaming that I needed him, wanted him, and would do anything I had to do to have that.
As I looked into the bathroom mirror I didn't recognize the person looking back at me anymore. My pink cheeks, and bright eyes. The circles were gone and I had a slight tan from the sun. The smile was what was really different. I couldn't remember that last time I had naturally smiled and hadn't forced it. I undressed and laid Into the bathtub letting the water cascade over my body. It was like I could still feel Blaise and the touch of his hands on my body. I had never wanted someone to touch me before. But I craved his and I wanted more. Suddenly my eyes began to glow a beautiful white color. The irises of my eyes turned deep blue. I drew closer to the mirror to take a better look, "I'm in here, and you can't keep me at bay forever. " I jumped back from the mirror. My reflection was speaking to me, but I knew what it really was. It was my wolf side once more. For some reason meeting Blaise had brought out my wolf and I didn't know how much longer I could contain it. "I am not the monster your father made me out to be, you must let me out so that I can protect you, so that I can protect us." My wolf pleaded. This made me angry. "Protect me!" I screamed. "Why the hell do I need your protection now, I needed it when that monster was alive. Where were you then? Why didnt you show up then? Why now?" I screamed. "I tried to protect us." My wolf whimpered. "Do you not remember your father flying into the wall, but we were so young, and I was so weak. I couldn't fight the massive amounts of tea he gave you." "Just, just leave me alone!" I stammered.
After my bath I grabbed something to eat and then started to get ready. I had to push what had happened in the bathroom out of my head. I had to make sure Blaise never found out. I opened my closet and started rummaging through my new wardrobe. I had discarded all of my baggy pants and shirts that my father made me wear and had treated myself to a new wardrobe from a mall I had passed on my way here. I took out a pair of pants that showed off my curves , my sleeveless acdc shirts, and my jean jacket. I threw my hair up in a pony tail and applied some mascara and lip gloss.
I was coming down the stairs when there was a knock on the door. "Must be Grace." I thought to myself as I rushed to open the door. Grace was great, and so funny. I couldn't wait to get to know her more she was truly a great person from what I had seen at the dam. I opened the door and was surprised when it wasn't Grace at the door. "Hey Blythe" the tall man said in a rough voice. "Remember me." He smiled showing a big set of white teeth. He was very tall, muscular, tan, he was just huge, and I didn't get a good feeling from him at all. "Don't trust him" my wolf begged. "Ummm." I tried to remember if I had ever met him, Then it hit me. He was one of the guys that was with Adrian at the Dam today. "Yes I remember you, is there anything I can help you with?" I asked him quickly losing my patience. Just then and To my relief Grace came speeding up the driveway in her yellow jeep 4x4, startling him. She exited the car like someone had set her ass on fire. "Rave! She roared bigger than what her small body was able to do. "What the hell are you doing here Rave." She poked him in the chest. "I was uh." He stammered which was comical as huge as he was and as small as she was. "How would you like Blaise to know your here, trying to start your s**t with Blythe?" She smirked at him. His Expression was odd one you'd see on a scolded puppy. "No reason to do that, I was just trying to be nice Grace, and see how she was settling in." He pleaded. "You've saw now leave!" Grace growled. I almost snickered watching Rave run from the porch and jump onto his bike. "He's trouble!" She looked at me. "If he ever comes around call me." I nodded my head in agreement. "Well let's go to the bonfire." Grace smiled quickly cheering up.
Sometime later after what seemed to be miles and miles off road back roads we pulled up to a densely wooded area. "It's just a little further. Let's get to it." She laughed. I followed her through the brush and over the fallen trees. I had never been more thankful to have on boots and Jeans. Finally we came to a clearing. I could see the bonfire roaring in the middle of the field. "Grace Baby!" A cute guy who sort of resembled Blaiseran up and picked up Grace twirling her around . She squealed like a little girl. "Case put me down." She laughed. Grace turned to me "Blythe this is Case, Blaise's brother." She introduced. "His younger much more ha dsome brother." He grinned down at me. "By two minutes." Grace laughed. "Wait Blaise is a twin." I asked her shocked. "Yep, he sure is, but this twin here is mine." She laughed pinching Case's cheek. Case picked her up and put her over his shoulder smacking her bottom, "Let's go dance woman." He hollered. "Blythe, Blaise is over by the kegs that way." She yelped and pointed to my right. I laughed and nodded my head. I started making my way in the direction Grace had pointed. Some of the kids I recognized from the dam, but most were total strangers to me. There was adults of all ages old and your. Even some children running around d laughing and playing. I was concentrating on fire d Blaise when my shoulder was touched from behind. I turned around to see a familiar woman standing behind me. I couldn't make out where I had seen her before. "Hello Blythe! My name is Elana." She said I a sweet voice. "Do I know you?" I asked curiously. "No" she smiled. " I just wanted to introduce myself." She explained. "Oh its nice to meet you mam" I greeted. "Please call me Elana!" she smiled. It was like I knew he was there before he was. I could feel the pull to him. I could feel him coming up behind my. My body always reacted this way when he was around. An arm slid around my waist and pulled me clothes. I leaned in taking in his delicious scent. "Hey Elana." He gritted through his teeth. "Blythe let's go grab a drink and hit the dance floor." He smiled at me. "Nice to meet you." I waved back to Elana as he led me away.
Blaise led me to a table filled with solo cups and handed me one. I had never tried beer before. I peered into the cup. "Is something wrong?" He asked. "I've never tried it." I admitted. He grinned at me as I sipped the drink. It was bitter but good. "What did Elana have to say to you." He asked with a curious expression on his face. "Oh she was just introducing herself." I told him. "Why didn't you tell me you had a twin." I smiled. "I guess I didn't even think about it." He laughed. "Your not attracted to my brother are you." He laughed. "Well while he does look delicious, I prefer the older of the two." I teased him. He threw his head back and laughed. He suddenly grabbed me by my waist and pulled me against his hard body. "What am I going to do with you." He asked his forehead against mine. "I dont know." I breathed my knees suddenly so weak I had to hold myself up against him. His lips crashed down on mine in an intimate kiss. Everyone else at the bonfire faded away as I got lost in the kiss. It was as if we were just one person. Finally breathless we both pulled away. He smiled down at me and then began leading me to the dance floor. "Blaise." I started. "I dont know how to dance." I admitted. "I'll teach you." He said. As we reach the dance floor a beautiful slow song started playing over the speakers. Blaise took my arms and put them around his neck. He then pulled me close putting his arms around d my waist. "Now just rock back and forth." He whispered as I lay my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes and became lost in the song.
I don't know how long we had been dancing or how many songs had been played but I was suddenly startled by the howl of a wolf not far from us. My head jerked up and the look on Blaise's face was of worry, and anger. "Damn it. " he muttered. What happened next terrified me but was also beautiful. I know it sounds crazy but the sight was something I could never had expected. The people around us began falling to the ground. It was as if one minute they were human and the next they were the most beautiful wolves I had ever seen. Huge compared to a regular wolf but with bright shining eyes, not white like mine had been In the mirror but red, and thick full and shiny fur. They started running like they were free. Free from any and all worries they had as their human selves. This wasn't nothing at all like my father had described. It was as if one of them changing had triggered a chain reaction. I looked over and Blaise was studying my face. "Are you okay ?" He asked with a worried expression. Then it hit me Blaise wasn't scared or terrified. He was only worried about what I was thinking at that moment. Blaise was a shapeshifter just as I was. I had so many questions. Was it possible we weren't killers? Was it possible we weren't the monsters my father described? Was it possible that I could actually be my true self, just like my mother had mentioned in the letter?
