Pigeon was awake and was ready to annoy everyone, even before the sun began to rise from the eastern horizon.
Raven's alarm clock went off so she reached for the snooze button but missed, causing raven to fall out of her bed and then fall face first on to the hard wood floor.
"Raven it's time to wake up!" Pigeon teased and then she burst out in laughter. Pigeon stood in her door way with a silly disapproving look on her face. "Race you down stairs" Pigeon teased knowing raven couldn't do it.
She got up then ran into the bathroom to brush her teeth then comb her hair. Raven dashed to her closet and put on her favorite indigo hoodie and her black jeans on with a hole on the right knee. She put all her sharpened pencils and other school supplies in her black backpack. Before she closed the zipper she grabbed the book her cousin made her for her birthday, then stuffed it in right by her note book. She rushed out the doors just as the school bus arrived at their house.
Raven rushed over to the edge of the and stood right next to pigeon waiting for the bus doors to open for them.
Pigeon and Raven walked over to get on the bus and sat in a open seat with a boy in a Red Wings jacket and tan jeans. "Hi" Pigeon said in a shaky voice.
He took out his ear buds, "Hi, Who are you?" he asked politely. His gaze was set on raven.
"I'm Raven, and that is my best friend Pigeon, we just moved here from Boston." Raven introduced herself politely. He raised his left eyebrow with suspicion when she said her's and Pigeon's names.
"But you can call me Rocky," pigeon offered. Raven noticed pigeon blushing out of the corner of her eye.
A girl walked over from the back of the bus wearing leggings and a blue button up shirt that had two buttons undone. Then sat down in the seat next to them. "Um, brother can i barrow your phone mine died?" she asked.
"What do you need it for this time?" The boy asked his sister as if she asked to barrow his phone every day.
"To message Dad, he wants to know what's going on today." she replied.
"Okay, but give it back before the end of the day." the boy handed her his phone and a small piece of paper. She grabbed it and headed over to the back of the bus.
"What was that all about?" pigeon asked curiously.
"My dad worries about every thing, ever since mother died." The boy responded as he pulled down his jacket's hood. His reddish brown hair wasn't combed but looked perfect like an eagle's feathers.
The grim words he spoke gave raven pity for the boy. "I'm sorry for your loss, and i know how you feel both my parents are dead." Raven said, "If need someone to talk too i'll give you my phone number."
"Sure, i'll add you to my contacts once i get my phone back," he joked. "Can I have your phone number to?" he turned his head to ask pigeon.
"Yes!" She exclaimed.
Soon the bus stopped in the school parking lot. All the students got off the bus and walked in to the school.
Pigeon and Raven walked next to each other, "That guy is so cute." Pigeon whispered as quiet as possible so no one could hear the conversation that was taking place between the two best friends. They opened the front doors, now they were officially students at their new school.
The boy eventually caught up to Raven and Pigeon as if he was intentionally following them, "Oh I forgot to tell you my name, It's Kestrel" He kindly introduced himself.
Pigeon's and Raven's jaws dropped. Could Kestrel be magic just like me and Pigeon, after all he is named after a bird? Raven thought to herself knowing that Pigeon was thinking the exact same thing.
"I know Kestrel is a girl's name and is a micro species of falcon." Kestrel said in a shy voice.
"I like it," both raven and pigeon commented at the exact same time.
Kestrel gave the girls an adoring and shy smile. There was a minute pause in the conversation, until they all burst out in laughter sounding like a group of laughing hyenas.
The three of them walked over to their own lockers they had been assigned, which as luck would have it were right next to each other.
"Hey look we all have the same classes together, do you gals want to sit by me?" Kestrel asked generously.
"Sure, we would love too" raven and pigeon were blushing so hard their faces went a pinkish red, while Pigeon's left hand was shaking nervously.
"Are you two okay because you are acting very strange?" Kestrel asked surprised by Pigeon's and Raven's extremely weird and strange behavior.
The warning bell rang meaning the had to get to their first hour class pronto or they would be tardy. They quickly grabbed their school supplies and rushed down the hall way. The bell rang just as the three students made it in to the class room.
They walked to the three empty seats in the back row, until the teacher spoke making them stop dead in their tracks, "Hello Kestrel, Would you mind showing your new friends around the school so maybe next time they won't almost be late?" the teacher asked sternly and firmly.
"Yes Mr. Morby" Kestrel answered with a small shy smile on his face.
"Everyone this is Raven and Pigeon they just recently moved here from the wonderful city of Boston." Mr. Morby introduced the new students but keeping a stern eye on Kestrel.
"HI!" everyone in the room greeted in unison.
"Come with me i'll show you around the school." Kestrel requested as he walked out the classroom door.
Raven and Pigeon followed him into the hallway ready for Kestrel to give them a tour. He led them down a hall to the left of them, "That is the Lunch room / gym" Kestrel informed as he pointed at a room. He gave a signal to follow him as they headed down another hall way.
"Something is weird about Kestrel and I can't figure it out." Raven whispered in Pigeon's right ear.
Pigeon responded with such a slight movement it wasn't even a shrug. Raven shoved her elbow in Pigeon's ribs. "Ow what was that for!" Pigeon shouted furiously.
Kestrel turned his head with a confused face looking at the girls, "What is going on we are right outside of Morby's class, we could get in huge trouble if your to loud" he warned them.
"Sorry Raven stomped on my foot." Pigeon apologized then raised her left foot then stomped on Raven's foot as hard as she could.
"Are you two done yet?" Kestrel asked and based on the tone of his voice his patience was getting thin with the new students.
"Yes, yes we are" Pigeon said hotly and flicked her brown hair. Raven and Pigeon followed kestrel for the rest of the tour by the end of the tour the bell rang indicating that class was over, and the halls would be flooded with the rest of the high school students.
"It's time for gym race you." Kestrel challenged.
"Just let us get our gym clothes first" Raven said as Kestrel nodded back.
He stood by his locker as Raven and Pigeon opened their lockers then grabbed their duffel bags. Raven was the first to run down the hall way as Pigeon followed. Kestrel hesitated then dashed after them. Kestrel passed by and made it in to the gym first.
"Oh brother!" Shouted a girl in a blue crop top and gray shorts. "Here is your phone back," she said as she pulled a black phone out of her short's left pocket.
Kestrel grabbed his phone from his sister. "Thanks"
Kestrel walked into the boys locker room, and raven pulled pigeon into the girls locker room. Soon they were on they gym court They did their stretches and then they played basket ball until class was over. They took the rest of their classes, each one falling in love with one or the other, and then the bell rang informing the students and teachers that school was over and that it was time to go home.
Raven and Pigeon stood out side in the school's parking lot waiting for the school bus to arrive. Soon a familiar dirty black truck came into view, Vulture was picking them up.
