Chapter 4

1488 Words
Blair's POV The music was as loud as thunder; it made the cutlery on the tabletops rattle. Neon lights flashed everywhere like police sirens, but much more colourful. The smoke and smell of alcohol are enough to make me throw out my guts. The four of us strolled our way inside the house Liam Clarke. He’s Blake’s and Harry’s teammate in basketball. He likes throwing parties whenever his parents are out of the country for a business trip. My eyes widened as I saw a couple of teenage kids practically having s*x in front of everyone in the living room until the guy suddenly pushes the girl and throw out. I closed my eyes before I could get sick. Niana was pissed off of me because I refused to wear one of the dresses she pulls out for me from her closet. It was a mini dress that had a deep V on the front. There was no way in hell that I would wear it. I am not against short dresses, sometimes I wear one during important events. But I wouldn’t wear something that barely covers my body. She was wearing a silver mini dress with fitted sleeves. While I’m just on my mom’s jeans and a white round neck shirt with my pair of vans. I was comfortable in this kind of clothes. We haven’t even spend an hour inside Liam’s house when all four of us spotted Elliot making out with Tricia by the porch. She has her arms linked around Elliot’s neck. Niana gasped and grabbed the red cup from Tay and threw it to Tricia’s face. Her blonde hair was soaked with whisky. Her eye make up was smudge. “You--” Niana cut her off. “No, you f*****g b***h. By all means, continue to f**k my boyfriend like the cheap slut that you are. You can shove him down to your throat.”she says. She made a face as if she had forgotten something. “Oh. wait, ex boyfriend.” Elliot pushed Tricia off him and grabbed Niana’s hands. “This is your fault, not mine. If you have just satisfy my--” “Satisfy your small d**k? Is that what you mean? f**k you, Elliot.” She says loud enough for everyone to hear. Everyone fell silent and the music stopped playing. They were all looking at them. “I don’t know what I see in you. You’re not even that good looking and you’re certainly not good enough in bed that I have to fake my moan just to boost your f*****g ego.” Tay and Blake burst out laughing and everyone followed. It was enough to humiliate Elliot in front of everyone. I was in shock and at the same time proud of my best friend for standing for herself. Niana turn to Tricia, “Enjoy f*****g his small d**k, because I am done with my garbage and you can keep him. After all, you have a habit of picking up someone’s trash, right?” She opened her mouth but there was no word coming out. She was shocked and humiliated. Niana turned on her heel with her chin high. We all decided to hang out to our Den but we grabbed a few drinks from Liam’s kitchen and 2 boxes of pizza. I put my arms around crying Niana once we’re in the back seat of Blake’s car. Tay was seated in the passenger seat, he looked at us through the rear-mirror. He frowned. “Hey, Niana, don't cry for that asshole. You’re a bad b***h, remember?” Tay says. Mimicking Professor Mark’s voice, our gay teacher who always calls her that way. Niana burst out laughing at the same time a tear fell. “Bad bitches don’t cry over small d***s. Raised your chin high. He’s not worth your tears.” She nodded and wiped the tears from the back of her hands. I sighed when her eyeliner smeared. I remember that day when she caught me crying in the library after Ysabelle and Blake got back together last year. I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but it really broke me down when I saw them kissing each other in front of the school’s gate.  *Flashback  “It’s about Blake, isn’t it?” She says. I was staring at her with wide eyes. How the hell did she know? I was really careful about my feelings and I don’t want anyone to know about it. But Niana did see it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. But I just had a hell of a week and I’m having a pms breakdown because of my period.” I said. “Don’t lie to me, Blair. I’ve been watching you watch Blake longer than Ysabelle did for 10 years.” She mumbles. “Don’t worry your secret's safe with me.” She wrapped her arms around me, and rocked me softly. “Shh. everything's going to be okay. I got you.” *End of flashback I wrapped my arms around her and let her lean against my shoulder. “Shh. Everything’s going to be okay. I got you.” I said in a small voice.  Blake pulled off the parking lot and drove his way to our Den. The ride was silent and Niana continued crying. “That asshole.” She sobs. “Hey, Niana. You want me and Tay to beat that asshole? Just say the word, we’ll do it.” said Blake. He was looking at us through the rearview-mirror. “It’s too tempting, but that would prove that I cared about that douchebag.” said Niana. I smiled at her. Because she’s so strong that she didn’t let her pain get the best out of her. “And, he’s not worth the effort. You didn’t lose him, he lost you.” I said. She nodded, tears dripping from her eyes again. Blake park in front of our Den. It’s an old house, once owned by my grand aunt. No one in our family wants to keep it, so I did. My younger, sister Betty and my youngest brother, Albert, find this house creepy. I was suddenly reminded of Albert’s upcoming math quiz bee on Thursday, that’s two days from now and I wasn’t able to help him study. Because I was too preoccupied with other things. Betty isn’t likely going to volunteer to help our brother because she’s too impatient with him.  Albert was diagnosed with ASD or Autism Spectrum Disorder. “We’re here,” Tay announced. We all climbed out of the car and grabbed the drinks and pizza we sneak out from Liam’s kitchen. This house outlasted the others because it's made of concrete. Floor, roof, ceiling. Only one of four glass windows remains, wavy and yellowed by time. There's no plumbing and no electricity, but the fireplace still works and there's a woodpile in the corner that Blake and Tay collected years ago. We don’t have much problem with the electricity since Blake generously bought a generator engine. Here in our Den, the four of us are the only ones who are allowed to get inside and we’re not allowed to bring anyone. This is our haven whenever any of us decide to run away from our home and there was only one time when I did that. Right now, I can’t afford to run away because no one will help my father to take care of our house and my siblings. When I spotted leftover plastics from Mcdonalds on top of the dining table, I glared at Blake. Because he practically lives here. It’s either he ran away from home or his dad threw him out. It was always like that for him. He threw me an apologetic smile, “Sorry. I forgot to throw them away last night.” He says. I grabbed the leftovers and threw them in the trash bin near the kitchen’s stool bar. “You always forget to throw your leftovers most of the time,” I remarked. He burst out laughing, “Sorry, mom.” He teases me. I wiped the dining table before I grabbed the two boxes of pizza and warmed them up in the microwave for 4 minutes, while Blake, Niana and Tay were seated on the couch. I grabbed a soda from the fridge and took 3 glasses for them. I put all of it on top of a stainless tray along with the pizza. “The creepy dude was there,” Blake said. I put the tray on top of the center table and sat next to Niana. I shake my head, “No. I didn’t.” I answered, and I tried to twist the lid of my soda but it’s too tight. “Give it to me, you’re too weak.” He teases. I rolled my eyes and obliged. He opened the lid with ease. “Piece of cake,” He says, as he handed it back. Tay was staring at us, “You know guys, if you keep doing that. Everyone will think that you two are dating.” Blake burst out laughing as if it was the most funniest joke Tay came up with and pointed at me, “We’re dating? No one would mistake us for a f*****g couple.” “Why?” Tay asked, his voice was calm but his eyes held another meaning as he stared at Blake. “Because, obviously, she isn’t my type and she is my best friend.” Blake says, “She is like a sister to me.”
