Elias

Taylor's POV: “Elias,” I muttered with my back pressed against the wooden door. What were the odds of him being in the same school with me? What were the odds that my bully, who vanished after sixth grade, would reappear in my dorm room? “Elias,” I said again, not believing that the boy who made my life hell was staring at me. With a groan, Elias stood tall, growing a few feet more, which made me push more against the door. He tilted his head to the side with a frown as he stepped closer. It looked like he didn't remember me. His b***h ass didn't remember the girl he tortured? My eyes grew a fraction wider at the same time as my nose flared. “You don't remember me, do you?” I gritted my teeth and let my hand fold into a fist. "...Taylor?" I folded my arms and sneered. "So you do remember me.” He let out a short laugh and let a smile take over his features. "How could I forget Tay Tay?” My heart stopped as the name brought back memories. Bad ones that I had to close my eyes to forget. Elias waved his hand in the hair nonchalantly and said, “What are you doing here though?” I stared into his icy blue eyes for a while that were also fixated on me before I let out a scoff. “This is my room, of course,” I replied and folded my hands. Elias frowned and looked around, his eyes settling on my bed. “Don't tell me this is happening again,” he muttered to himself with a groan. I watched him rub his hand over his face before he turned back to me. “W- what do you mean?” I rubbed my hands over my arms as I stared back at him, wondering what was going on in his head. For some reason, having his full attention on me made me feel self-conscious. Maybe it was our past… Wait… why was this i***t making me nervous? Instead of replying, Elias stepped closer, and I felt my hand move to the doorknob with each step he took. He was soon right in front of me with just about two metres in between us. “Move.” I didn't realise what he had said at first until I blinked about thrice. “O-oh,” I stuttered before I stepped away from the way. Elias let out a sigh and shook his head. I bit my inner lips, suddenly feeling very embarrassed. “Follow me,” he said, and with just a tiny bit of hesitation, I did. The hall was quite rowdy and filled with men, of course. Most of them had their naked chest out just like Elias. I bowed my head immediately and made eye contact with one of the guys. Another one had several tattoos across his body and I couldn't help but stare. Elias was way ahead of me, so I caught up with him and asked, “Where are we going?” Elias spared me a glance and said, “The RA.” “There has been a mix-up in the housing just like last session. ” I stopped walking to process what he just said and groaned internally. Great! It just had to be my luck, and it had to turn out to be Elias of all people. “Your name must have caused confusion of some sort,” he said and shook his head. Before I could take offence, someone stopped Elias and greeted him. "Yo, Eli!" Then another "Practice tomorrow?" And again. "Nice game last week!" How popular was he exactly? He was definitely different from the scrawny nine-year-old who always chased me around the playground with worms in his hands. He had grown way taller and bigger. I snapped out of my thoughts when we got to where I believed was the RA's office and Elias opened the office without knocking. My mouth opened on its own before I followed him in. “Martha,” Elias greeted casually, then sat at the desk. Martha was pretty young and probably a student. She had cat-eye glasses that framed her face so well. “Eli, respect,” she muttered and continued to type furiously. I stood close to the door awkwardly and watched as they interacted. “Won't you tell her?” I finally asked when Eli didn't say anything about the issue. He clapped his hand immediately, then said, “Right!” I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. Had this boy really managed to intimidate me as a kid? “There's a mix-up again, Martha,” Eli said. Martha didn't say a word for a while, then with a sigh, she asked, “Room number.” “412.” Eli turned to look at me and I couldn't help but wonder if my quick response was off. The thing was that I wanted a solution as fast as possible. “412…” Martha murmured as she typed. Soon, a frown appeared on her face. Then it deepened as she continued to type. It wasn't any good. I swallowed as I waited for her to explain and give a solution. “Two T. Bennett registered for housing,” she started, still typing. “One is Taylor Bennett,” she said, then glanced up. I moved closer into the office and nodded, “That's me.” “Then… “Tyler Bennett.” The office went quiet for a while, as if I stared at the residence assistant. “Martha, you just had to,” Elias muttered and gave a look. Why wasn't she saying the solution? “So what do we do about it?” “Tyler must have been given my room, so we can just swap,” I continued and even Elias nodded. Martha winced then glanced up with a sheepish smile. “Well… the issue is that Tyler Bennett cancelled his housing registration, so it has already been reassigned to another girl.” My body went limp as I stared at her in horror. For some reason, Elias thought it was the best time to let out a dramatic whistle. Did he even care at this point? Wait… this wasn't the first time, according to him. “So what do we do?” I said, then looked at Elias. “This isn't the first time, right?” Elias and Martha looked at each other for a while as if they were communicating with their eyes. “She had to stay the whole session,” Elias said. The horror I felt was ten times worse and it dampened my mood further. “And you survived it,” Martha said as if Elias was the victim. The poor girl has probably been traumatised by this jerk. “I don't want it again,” he replied and shook his head vehemently. I wanted to punch him in the face but restrained myself. “Especially not with her,” he added and looked at me. “What is wrong with me?” I asked with a brow raised. “Not like I want to share a room with you, but what is wrong with me?” Elias didn't say a word, so instead, I turned to Martha. I wasn't sure, but she seemed to be enjoying this, especially with the way she was swirling on the chair. “So,” I started slowly, "I have to live with him.” I gave Elias the best dirty look I could pull and the way his brows were knitted told me he didn't like it. Good. Martha folded her hand then nodded. I let out a scoff and glanced between both of them. How didn't they find this wrong? “I can't live with him,” I said, my voice a few pitches higher. This was being crazy. “Honey, you have to,” Martha replied. “Isn't this against the school rules?” “Not in situations like this one," she replied quickly. “I can't really live with this guy.” “Why?” Martha asked, as if that was even meant to be a question. “Because he bullied me for four years!" Silence. Martha slowly turned toward Elias, then asked, with a brow raised, "... Seriously?" I watched my bully scratch his neck, then said, “We were kids." "You locked me in the janitor's closet!" "Once." "THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT BETTER!” If I were to take a guess, my face was probably very red. In fact, crimson. The office went quiet again and instead of an apology, Elias shook his head as if I was the problem. The audacity! “Well, you have no choice,” Martha said with a shrug. Elias was quiet this time, so I glanced at him. His eyes met mine and the hostility behind them made my blood go cold. Nice! My former bully is now my roommate and, in a way, I've managed to tick him off. "I'll have Maintenance bring another desk tomorrow." I frowned at Martha's words and Elias asked, "Another?" "Well... you're going to be sharing the room,” she said as she looked between us. "You should probably work out some ground rules,” Martha added before she relaxed into her chair. "I'm not talking to him." "I'm not talking to her." Elias and I both talked at the same time, then turned to glare at each other. Did he think I wanted to have anything to do with him to start with? I wondered and let out a scoff that made him narrow his eyes. "This semester is going to be fun,” I heard Martha say, and I couldn't disagree more. No, it was going to be hell.
