Roommate
Taylor's POV:
“Are you sure you don't need help?” My mum asked with her brows etched.
With a little huff, I dropped the last box on the floor and turned to her.
“I'm good,” I said with a smile and a thumbs up.
I watched her hesitate for a moment before she pulled me in for another hug.
Her citrus scent invaded my nostrils and I closed my eyes to enjoy it.
“I'm going to miss you,” I murmured into her ear and hugged her tighter.
“I'm just a call away.”
“And two days away,” I replied, and we both laughed as we pulled away.
This was my first time being so far away from home, and it felt really weird.
I watched my mum walk away, her signature midi skirt hugging her slim waist. Staring at her always made me wish I wasn't so petite.
I will probably be as intimidating as she was, but maybe in my next life.
With a sigh, I turned around and stared at my dorm's door, wondering what she would be like.
Is she going to like Kdramas just like me or is she also into thriller novels?
The thoughts made me seem giddy, but I soon got snapped out of it when something caught my attention.
Boys.
I've heard that college is a bit more… relaxed, which explains why both genders can freely enter the other's dorm but it was a bit too much.
That means I won't be able to wear my favourite pink shorts around here.
With a sigh of disappointment, I opened my room's door and surprisingly, it gave out.
My roommate was around.
I couldn't help the smile that appeared on my face as I carried my first box in.
I dropped it at the center of the room and immediately studied the big space.
It was way bigger than what I had seen online, and I was grateful for that.
One bed had its bedspread already and it was a green one. Not a great choice in my opinion.
There was a hoodie on my bed that had NYC written on it. With a frown, I picked it up and dropped it on the other bed.
One thing I hated the most after my time in my boarding school was my space being used by another person.
I continued to carry my boxes in and studied my roommate's space every time I came in.
She seemed like the football kind of person and the Ronaldo poster she had along with the football jersey and a few other things made it clear.
I just hoped she wasn't one of those people who get aggressive after their team loses.
I was soon done unpacking and had a plate of instant noodles on my bed with my hair packed in a rough bun.
So do you like the room?
I didn't hesitate to reply to Ciara, my friend back at home.
Yeah, it's huge.
A smile was still playing on my face as I typed each word.
Ciara had decided to go to a culinary school instead, and it would take about two months for her to resume here in New York too.
We had cried in each other's arms before I left and even promised to text every day.
What about your roommate? Do you like her?
I let my hand hover on the screen as I stared at the question.
She still wasn't back, and it was already a bit past 6.
I haven't met her yet.
I shut down my phone after that message and decided to sleep. However, I made sure to set my alarm so that I could read ahead of Monday's class.
It was a good thing I listened to my mum and came on Friday because I was way too exhausted.
Soon enough, sleep came after minutes of begging for it and I didn't wake up until my alarm rang.
I snoozed it for the first three times before I finally stood up. My body ached, and my eyes felt groggy, so I rubbed down.
Everywhere was dark now and the only source of light was from the bathroom.
I frowned before I glanced at my roommate's bed. There was another jersey on the bed, which meant she had come in.
Was she on the football team? That means she isn't a freshman like me.
I took out my phone to check the time and noticed that it was 10pm, just two hours until the curfew.
“f**k,” I said with a groan as I pushed my brown duvet away.
My stomach grumbled at the same time as the bathroom's door slammed shut and I jolted.
Why was she so loud? I couldn't help but wonder as I glared at her approaching silhouette.
It was too dark to see her face, but I had to admit that she was damn big. Not too big for a guy but for a girl.
She even had her hair cut into a bob, which wasn't much of a surprise considering her personality.
But I had to mention again that she was tall… and muscular.
Was she a weightlifter? Because that's what her abs that I could barely make out were screaming.
My eyes went up from her abs and landed on her bare chest.
They were also muscul-
Wait, where are her boobs?
I squinted my eyes as I tried to make out her two mounds, but there was nothing there.
Why didn't she…
“Are you my roommate's girlfriend? You aren't meant to be here anymore. ” The voice that finally made everything clear came.
I continued to stare at the manly chest for a while, trying to process what was happening. And when I finally did, I let out a piercing scream.
The man backed away and covered his ears while still staring at me.
“What are you doing here? Curfew is almost over,” I yelled on top of my lungs as I sat up, my eyes glancing at the door.
I needed to look for a way to break for a run before he murdered me to cover his secret.
“That should be my line,” he yelled back, irritation obvious in his voice.
He moved closer to me, but I didn't wait to see what he had in mind before I kicked him in the groin.
A strained groan escaped his lips as I bolted for the door but stopped when my hand touched the knob.
That voice.
It was way too familiar.
I glanced at the switch which was right next to the door and turned it on.
I blinked as I waited for my eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness and when it did, I turned to look at the intruder.
My mouth opened, but no words found their way out as I stared at the familiar face.
He was still hunched over, and his face was red, probably in anger or discomfort… or both.
My hand fell to my side as I continued to stare at him.
It couldn't be.
The messy black hair was shorter now and his shoulders were broader.
But I knew those icy blue eyes too well and nothing would ever make me forget them.
How would I forget Elias?
Most of all, how would I ever forget my bully?
And what exactly was he doing here?
