Blurb

Many years ago, Jennifer was left alone with her child and escaped from the city trying to find a new life after a severe betrayal. Living was a torture that she suffered every day and night but she endured it for her daughter, her little princess, the light of her life.

But fate had other plans in store for her. Now Jennifer has become a symbol of respect and admiration among the people. Her life is finally a bright and promising one.

But then, the fragile existence of this happiness is short-lived when she is met with a twist to her fate. The one man she hated with passion came back, his eyes were full of remorse and shame. She doesn’t wish to have anything to do with him, but somehow, they are written into different fates.

He chases after Jennifer and continues to plead with her for another chance, expressing that he will do whatever it takes to get her and her baby back. However, the memories of the past that tend to be painful do bring a barrier that seems impossible to overcome.

“You have changed,” he remarked, his tone casual but his gaze intense.

Her voice trembled slightly as she replied, "Life has taught me some bitter lessons, lessons that have transformed me in ways I never imagined."

Will Jennifer forgive him after all he has done to her?

Meeting Him Again
My breath caught as his hand slid along my waist, caressing my stomach. His lips teased the side of my face, then moved to my ear, kissing softly. I heard him whisper in his deep voice, "The first time I saw you in the club, I knew I wanted to have a one-night-stand with you." Both of my hands tightened on his body. My eyes closed tightly, feeling his increasingly wild kisses. Traveling to my neck, he left a mark of ownership there. "Paying you a high price is so worth it. Your beautiful body, your beautiful curves, and your scent, damn, you make me crazy!" I didn't know the man behind me, just a stranger buying my services. I never thought I'd do this, but I had no choice. My baby was in the hospital. She was sick for almost two weeks, had been treated, and was already recovering. But the hefty hospital bills that were not fully paid yet kept her detained in the hospital. I needed money fast! I worked as a seamstress for a fashion company, but my boss didn't want to pay upfront for the project I was working on. My friend Edward, who works as an escort in the same company as me, suggested that I sell my body for a one-night stand to earn a large sum of money quickly. However, even though I didn't want to do this, I would sacrifice for my only daughter. She's my princess, my angel, my everything. I would do anything to keep her healthy and happy, including demeaning my status as a respected woman. I could feel his hand starting to creep downwards, the pressure he exerted indicating his lust. My eyes suddenly widened. My body wanted to refuse, but I kept telling myself that I could bear it! ‘For your daughter, for your daughter,’ I repeatedly manipulated myself. As his fingers crept lower, my phone rang. The hospital! I snatched it up without thinking. Reflexively, I stood up, avoiding the naughty touch of the stranger who bought my services. "Yes, nurse? Is something wrong?" I asked. I gripped the phone tightly, trying not to betray my emotions as someone on the other end explained that my daughter was not in her ward. "What? How could this happen? Why wasn't anyone watching her?" My brow furrowed, my lips constantly bitten to hold back my anger. I cursed and quickly put on the shirt and pants I had taken off. Just as I was about to step away, the stranger called out to me. He held my hand tightly, and as I turned to look at him, he stared at me intently. "Where are you going?! We're not even finished yet! You can't just leave like that!" he said. His eyes looked fierce, conveying his anger. I forcefully pushed his grip away. "Let's just cancel. My daughter is not in her room. I have to go there immediately! My daughter is more important than anything!" At the hospital, I sprinted through the halls, nearly colliding with others, ignoring their shouts. My eyes darted wildly, searching for her. "Where is she?" I muttered to myself, voicing my growing anxiety. The panic within me swelled, even though I knew the hospital had informed me that an organized team was already searching for her. Then, I spotted her at the end of the hall, holding an ice cream, her smile radiant. I ran to her with a heart pounding. Thud! I crouched down to embrace my daughter tightly. My hands caressed the back of her head, and tears streamed down my face. "Thank goodness, thank goodness," I repeated, feeling relieved to have finally found her. As we pulled away from the hug, I immediately started scolding her, "Why did you run off, huh? Do you know how worried I was? I came straight here when the hospital told me you were missing!" I tried to control my emotions, but the words spilled out from the worry I had felt. "Ugh, Mom, I was so bored in that room. All I could see were the four walls around me. So, I left," she explained, her small lips smeared with ice cream. Ice cream? How can she get an ice cream? Who bought it for her? Then, my daughter shifted my attention. Her eyes, which had been dull, now sparkled with excitement. "Mom, guess what?! I found a husband for you!" she exclaimed, cupping my cheeks with one of her tiny hands. "As I made my way back to my room, a handsome, mature man offered me help,” she continued. “And look! He's the one who bought me this ice cream!" I sighed deeply. My daughter had said the same thing hundreds of times before. "You silly girl. I've told you, I don't need a husband. How many times have I told you, hm? Stop accepting things from strangers. It's very dangerous," I warned her. Nana, my beautiful little girl, shook her head, her lips pouting and her eyes narrowing in a cute, determined way. "No, no, no," she said, wagging her tiny index finger from side to side. "Mom, you need a husband. A husband to support our living expenses, and I'm tired of being teased by my school friends for not having a dad. I want a complete family." Here we go again. Her big, round eyes welled up with tears, and even the tip of her nose turned red. My daughter knew my weakness well. Every time she brought up this argument, she always had plenty of reasons to weaken my stance, while I struggled to find reasons to counter it. "Nana, listen," I tried to reason with her. But my daughter offered another option. She grabbed my arm tightly and pulled hard. "Come on, Mom! I'll show you something!" she said, her neat row of tiny white teeth flashing as she led me somewhere. Looking around, it seems she took me to the ice cream stand within the hospital premises. It should not have been any wonder, but only my stiff and suddenly frozen body, pupils contracted while I saw his figure. There stood the man who had turned everything I had known into a living nightmare. Emotions drawn from my memory started to pour in like a flood, piercing pain in the chest, crying without any control. The past I so much wanted to be rid of has caused me to become powerless. As his eyes met mine for the first time, I felt even my pulse captured by his hold. The man’s eyes were deep-set and a cold blue, witnessing with an apparent blankness. I broke down in sorrow and hurriedly dried my cheeks, lest that man should find me weak. But then again, what was he doing exactly here? In this city? At this hospital?
