KIERA I had underestimated the journey with two infants. While I did take a few breaks in feeding them and putting them to sleep for a couple of hours, my own body was thoroughly exhausted. Besides, the nightfall was chilling. So, when I had spotted a small inn a few yards away, I decided to stay in for the night.  The neighbourhood was sparse, and I doubted if the town was predominantly full of shifters. Small packs usually stay in the bayous and are often inhabited amongst the human population. They were not threatening in general.  I pushed past the creaky wooden door and was greeted with a shabby set-up for a reception. It looked like one of those old roadside inns for travellers, a little low on amenities but still doable for the night. At least that was all I needed.  "Good even
