Chloe stared at her room for the last time, reminiscing all the memories she had there. Not everything was good but it was what she called home. A picture frame her younger self been held high on the shoulder by an an older man, both of them were wearing a race suit. The picture was on the shelf next to the door she looked at the picture for a long while and looked away. Taking a last glance at her room pictured with different kind of posters ranging from celebrities yo sport cars, she sighed and stopped at the entrance to pick up the frame as if having a second thought then she slammed the door shut behind her.
Sarah flashed a smile at her daughter looking very excited and pleased like a student going camping, Chloe looked at her mother blankly she dropped the last box into the already filled up trunk of the car, she got into the passenger seat and waited for her to close up the trunk. She picked up a book to read totally ignoring her mother who was driving "What are you reading? ..........Robert Louis Treasure Island?" Sarah asked. "Come-on Chloe tell me, you know I can't read the title without my glasses" she said when she didn't get a reply from her daughter.
Still there was no reply from Chloe "so you're not going to talk to me?......you know it's not easy for me too.......You spend your life trying to get to the next level and then everything just seems to go back to where you started from, it's frustrating very much but that moment when you've run out of options and you're suddenly given a chance" Sarah said with a happy smile "Stop giving me video games metaphor, I'm not ten you know" Chloe said with a jerk.
"But it's true, we will be the Cinderella in our own story but we won't be disappearing at 12" Chloe groaned at her mother's poor attempt to crack a joke. "Mum can you stop it please, it's your own Cinderella story...not mine" She argued. "Sweetheart, think about it..... we're going to be the main character of our own lives from now on..." Chloe cut her short "Your life mom.....mine is kilometers behind, just on your f*****g whim" she exclaimed loudly looking out the window. "It's love Chloe not on a whim, I love John and he does too". "I don't want to hear it" Chloe replied still looking out the window. "We love each other Chloe" Sarah insisted and Chloe opposed "I loved someone too mom and you didn't care"
"I know it's hard but I promise you'll love it there" Sarah assured with a smile but Chloe wasn't listening to her anymore instead she plugged in her earphones listening to treasures by Bruno Mars. Sarah sighed and drove silently knowing the conversation has ended, after a long drive she drove into and estate with greens on both side. It was like an extraordinary large garden, she navigated through the road with familiarity until she got to a large gate, looking at her daughter who was now looking around curiously she raised a button up and pressed it and as soon as she did....the gate opened up wide. Chloe raised a brow at her mom's smug behavior and scoffed but still took the chance to look around the extremely large ....house, it'd fit better to call it a mansion.
A man was on a ladder trimming the grasses "Madam!" He called out cheerfully to Sarah "Hi Manuel" she greeted back with the same tone. She maneuvered through another fairly large garden passing by two large water fountains until she got to the entrance of the mansion painted in gold and white, four workers were standing at the entrance probably to welcome the madam of the house, Sarah alighted and Chloe followed her curious blue eyes wandered until it caught the silhouette of a man coming from the house wearing a shirt and shirt. Sarah hurriedly ran into the arms of the man "Honey." He hugged her back lovingly"hey" he said and kissed her hair "how was the trip?".
"I'll tell you later" Sarah replied, Chloe scoffed at their display and went to the tmcar trunk to take out her things. One of the workers who seemed to be the butler hurriedly went to her "Allow me miss" Chloe shook her head "No it's fine, thanks" still not letting go of the suitcase "It is my duty miss" Chloe swatted his hand again "Ill take it myself" The man stubbornly held on. "Let Micheal help you" her mother's husband chipped in with a smile as he saw them argue. "Fine, you win Maverick" she said a little pissed off but this just earned a chuckle from her mom and John.
Looking at John, Chloe couldn't help admitting he was many times better than her father. He moved closer to her "it's really nice to meet you Chloe" he took her hands as he said this, Chlo gently shrugged his hands off her "I'm sorry but I can't say the same" he looked at Sarah a bit disappointed and Sarah just sighed "Well, I just want you to feel at home and consider me as family ....I hope I'm not asking for too much" he added with a hint of smile in his sweet looking eyes, he was handsome and hot, she had to give it to her mom that she chose well or maybe it was the other way round.
"We'll see" Chloe said this time a little less hostile and John smile "I guess I'll take what I can get" he said again obviously not offended by her behavior. Sarah squeezed his arm and gave him a side hug "Why don't we show you around" Sarah said holding her daughter's hand. John backed off and mouthed to Sarah "Take it easy" sheqinked back and replied the greetings of the maids standing at the entrance. "Take those bags in" John instructed the workers, and they got to work immediately.
As they entered the house "this is the hallway, that is the kitchen and the bedrooms are upstairs" Chloe looked around the aittind area and was amazed at how large it is as, it was the size of their whole house back at Lanchester. The kitchen was painted in silver and black and was three times the size of her previous room, she looked at the chandelier centered at the middle of the ceiling in awe. John now standing beside her mom just smed while her mom giggled.
She was taking to another r side of the house "The spa and gym is right beside each other...... ths swimming pool" Chloe was now totally unable to contain herself as she looked at the large swimming area and moved to the spa which was painted in white and was fully equipped, the gym had every equipment from basic ones to intermediate and to the complex ones "wow" she said at last, she was shown to the garage that was inside the house too and a car maneuvering on its own on the whirling machine "Do you have a library or a guest room where I can rest for a while" she asked calmly and the couple looked at each other with a sigh.
