Luna Raynott turning in her seat. The fifteen-hour flight to Hollywood fromSydney wasn’t the longest she’d ever done, but tonight she just wasn't comfortable. She had been to the beach the previous day and fallen asleep in the sun that afternoon, so she was a little pink. It was mid-summer in Australia and the sun was too harsh even with the application of sunscreen.
Luna Raynott is from Naples, borned and lived her early life there before relocating to Sydney. Since she left about fifteen years ago, she hasn't set foot in Florida so she had chosen Hollywood as the location for her popular fiction series since it was her state and it would make her close to her home.
Luna has been a writer for four years now and her books are topnotch. She wasn’t the next Stephen King but things have been going on smoothly. She’d recently left her 9 to 5 job to become a full-time writer, that was a wonderful accomplishment she made in her life.
Unfortunately, the joy didn't last long enough before she passed through a major heartbreak. Her fiancé, James, asked her not to quit her job because he felt there was no future for a writer. Only her 9 to 5 job would give her a good life. Luna kept showing him her mouth watering income as a writer but he wasn't yielding. It wasn't easy on Luna, she had to write at night just to meet up with her target which was telling on her health and productivity.
How funny life goes at times. There was a retrenchment at Luna's workplace, although she was retained by her company but more duties were added to her workload. She had no choice but to quit her job and just concentrate fully on her writing job. She tendered her resignation letter and resigned. James almost made heavens fall with how furious he was, he stopped speaking with her for a week before he finally packed out of the house. With a note "I can't do this anymore, I'm tired. James."
She was shocked and heartbroken but could do nothing about it. The heartbreak almost became depression when she found out James moved in with his colleague, Jenny. Luna had always been sceptical about their relationship but James was always saying she was just overreacting. She’d called her mom and best friend Khloe and they showed up with tubs of ice cream, pizza, and vodka. All she wanted was her mom’s warm and loving arms around her, Luna had sobbed most of the evening as the woman reiterated that men were never trustworthy.
Her mother had met and fallen in love with Luna's father in Florida and was able to convince him to move to Australia when she got pregnant with her. They got married within two months. Her father kept going back and forth to Florida, many times staying for months at a stretch.
Luna's mother cried many times on the phone and Luna herself was having a hard time because of her father's presence.
Finally, when she was old enough, they
discovered he had a whole other family in Florida.
It was very devastating.
Now she understood her mother’s anger and pain. Her mom vowed to never trust another man again, remaining angry and never giving another man any slight chance.
It seemed that's the same path Luna was on now? Never. She knew it was temporary and one day she would get the right person.
Luna had visited her father a few times in Florida and she met his family but she was never happy because her father was never like the way he was with his family when he was with her and her mother. Four months after her last visit, her father died in an auto accident.
Luna and her mother had to travel back to Florida for an awkward funeral, and that was the last time she ever laid her eyes on her half siblings.
Now, here she was, flying back to Florida.
After her painful breakup, Luna got busy writing and marketing her books. She was determined to be very successful and prove herself. Six weeks ago, she was suddenly approached by a leading network, Bookworld, who wanted to produce her romance series,
Beach of Love
Yes! She accepted the offer after negotiating and working out the final details.
Khloe dragged her out to a local bar where they had gotten completely smashed and danced like fools all night long. Luna really needed it.
Now she was enroute Florida to meet with the team to look at locations and prepare for filming the book later in the year. She’d requested to be involved as possible to ensure her books were represented correctly.
Luna had two weeks at Hollywood, giving her a few days before the
The team arrived, then a week after her business with them was complete.
“I really wish I could come with you,” Khloe pouted for the umpteenth time during their drive to the airport.
“Me, too.” Luna had tried to explain to her friend that booking flight ticket for both of them would be too costly and they’d both
agreed they’d plan a proper girls' holiday later in the year.
“Hey bad gurl find yourself a hot boy, or man in uniform, while you're there and have some kinky fun,” Khloe said, winking devilishly.
Luna shook her head. “Hell no. I’m just going to shop, read, swim, tan and surf, that’s it.”
And concentrate more on her books being turned into an interesting show for her readers. She just couldn’t wait to tell them about the new development.
Her heart was still very much bruised. She now accepted James wasn’t the one,but he left in the most cold and cruel way.
It was obvious he had been cheating on her, and had used her career change as an excuse. He really did well manipulating her.
Asshole.
It had taken her a long time to open up and trust him when they first met.
She was just twenty-one. Within seven months, he’d proposed they move in together and one year later he had proposed.
Luna almost burst into tears, she was very surprised. She didn't know what answer to give, she had to ask for days to think about it. That should have been a sign since she couldn't give a direct answer, but who would have thought about that.
Her mother was always on her neck about not completely trusting James, but it was normal for her mother to be like that since her marriage was a mess.
Turns out she was always right.
So, with all these, Luna had no intention of giving her heart to any man anytime soon. All she wants now is just to focus on her career, she would worry about a man in future. She was only twenty-six, she had her whole life ahead of her. No time to think or care about a man for now.
“Oh my God!!!” Khloe exclaimed. “Babe you’re Goddamn Hot. All that light brown skin and gorgeous long, dark hair.”
Luna knew she had been blessed with a very nice body. However, she also worked out regularly and ate healthy. She knew she would turn heads when she put on a bikini and stepped onto Hollywood Beach.
“That doesn’t mean I should go f**k all the men at the beach.” She laughed.
“No, not all of them. Two or three would suffice baby.” Khloe gave her a devilish grin. “Hey girl let your hair down, I need you to make guys fall off their surfing boards. Use your gift baby.”
Luna undid the bun she made and her dark, long curly hair fell loose touching her shoulders.
She looked at herself in the mirror and admired herself, her friend couldn't stop raining praises on her.
But she was very clear about her goals in Florida. A vacation romance was a big no.
