Prologue
Prologue A rainy evening. Raindrops trickle down the windowpane, beyond which the lights of the big city are fading. It feels as though behind the veil of rain, reality itself is slipping away—a world in which we live, so tirelessly striving for happiness at any cost. We speak tirelessly about how wonderful it would be to eliminate all suffering and live a life without pain, without even the bitterness of loss. But isn't that akin to a mirage in the desert? After all, without the bitter taste of hardship we would never know true joy, and without darkness we would not appreciate the brilliance of light. Sometimes it is loss itself that forces us to look at what we have with trembling gratitude. Does that mean that we truly need obstacles and struggle? Perhaps to live fully we need not only reward but also trial—one that, when overcome, allows us to savor the taste of genuine happiness. The protagonist of this story is a man determined to create paradise on Earth for the greater good. From childhood, he astonished those around him with an incredible quickness of thought and an ability to learn literally on the fly. His mind seemed like a high-speed machine, effortlessly mastering diverse fields—from the hard sciences to music, from philosophy to economics. And as if to confirm his extraordinary nature, a peculiar trait was discovered on his head—like his grandfather, he had a double crown. "Double crown—blessing or curse?" some would joke. "Maybe this guy really is special," others whispered, vainly searching for an explanation for his unique gift. He himself gave it little importance, dismissing this 'extra cowlick' as nothing more than an amusing superstition and his abilities as nothing out of the ordinary. Yet life carried on, gradually hinting that this seemingly trivial detail might open doors beyond the confines of the familiar world. Where do these doors lead? To the threshold of a cloudless Eden, where every problem disappears? Or into the depths of the abyss, where unknown rules and laws reign, binding all aspects of reality into a single mysterious web? One day each of us may ask ourselves, "Would I really want to find a happiness that has not a single drop of sorrow or pain?" And if the answer should turn out to be "no," then what is it that we are truly seeking? Thus begins the story of a man with a special gift, who sincerely wanted to give people something they have fruitlessly sought for centuries. He will take risks and do everything possible to make the world perfect... or at least bring it closer to that ideal. But is it so easy when the very pursuit of absolute good runs up against mysterious barriers, and even the most gifted mind cannot always find a rational explanation for them? Is mere chance to blame? Or are someone's invisible mechanisms setting the boundaries of what is permitted? This story will not offer direct answers, but it will leave ample room for reflection on our place in the Universe—and whether we are losing something essential in our relentless pursuit of an absolute paradise. And for now, in the evening darkness, the lights are slowly going out, and only the ceaseless patter of raindrops reminds us that life is inseparable from movement, from the churning energy that gives rise to contrasts. And perhaps, somewhere within each of us, our own "second crown" lies hidden—something whose existence we are not even aware of...
