HELEN TELLS DAN TO let Joanna go when she’s finished with her statement. Gladys says she can stay at her apartment that night until she figures something else out. She can’t go back to the President’s Mansion, for obvious reasons. Seeing it’s only 7:30 p.m., I ask Helen if she’d like to come to the Rectory for pizza. She says she’d like that, and promises she’ll be there around 8 p.m. It’s a pleasant evening, so I decide to walk back to Saint Clare’s by way of Tony’s Pizzeria and pick up a large meat pizza with mushrooms.
