Thirty-Six THE RINGING OF MY PHONE jars me awake. I look and notice it’s still dark outside. I grab my phone and see the time. 6 a.m. And it’s Helen calling me. “What’s wrong,” I say as I sit up in bed. “I got a call from Gladys,” Helen answers. “She says she needs both of us to come to her office right now. She’s found something and it has really upset her.” “I’ll meet you there in ten minutes.” I quickly get dressed and I grab my wallet and keys and head downstairs.
