“I’m glad your boss let you come home so quickly today.” Aurora said, putting her keys on the table.
Liv doesn't want to answer at all because the anger boiling over inside her could cause something very serious that no one could calm down. She's at the end of her rope, at the end of her rope, and she wants to break something because it's the only way to calm down. If only she drank, she could get drunk.
"No, but what's wrong, Liv? Why don’t you want to answer?”
“Better not, Aurora.”
She doesn't look at him and Aurora leaves. She knows she won't last more than five minutes like that because Aurora has the gift of understanding people's pain and wanting to take care of them. She starts the timer and five minutes later, Aurora shows up looking sad. She blames herself for the fact that the latter is in this state but it is not her fault either but who could be happy after her dismissal without any reason. She suddenly gets up ready to leave when her friend calls her.
“What’s going on, Liv?”
“You will never understand because I don’t understand either. This man lied to me as did my family until they died. This man made fun of me, he gave me hope and like an i***t I believed him. I believed him and today I am the one who suffers. I so want to get revenge on him but I don’t hold a grudge, do I?”
Aurora just nods and she's sure because Liv isn't a girl with a grudge and seeing her like this makes her sick. She doesn't like it when her best friend is hurt because she doesn't bother anyone.
“What did this man do to you? You see him as a father because he understands you best and watches over you.”
“I advise you to conjugate your verb in the imperfect because this man has been bamboozling me all this time. I want to bring my grand-father from where he is to introduce him to his new friend you know! They will make the perfect pair.”
“I've had enough, Liv. I've tortured my brain enough as it is and the best thing would be if you told me clearly. Did he hit you? Did he disrespect you?”
“If he had disrespected me, I would have sent him to the hospital and he would have fired me with good reason.”
“Licensed?” Aurora asks.
Liv nods, feeling tears welling up in her eyes. It's like a nightmare, like a dream similar to those she's been having for some time. She wants to go out and get some fresh air because she needs it.
“I'm going out, Aurora.”
“And where are you going?”
“The image of this stranger keeps playing over and over in my head and I think going back there might calm me down.”
“Are you kidding, Liv?” Aurora shouts, grabbing her arm. “You can’t go back because you don’t know anything about this man. He may be dangerous for you because the description you gave me of this man is nonexistent. No one can be that physically perfect. Liv, I would like to say that you were dreaming and since that is not the case, you need to stop thinking about this man because it seems that he is a danger to you."
She doesn't want to hear any more of this even though it's strange that she keeps thinking about this man. He haunts her so much that she can't take it anymore, but what can she do? She can't run away from her own thoughts because she would have if it were possible.
“Liv, I’m going to see your boss and he’ll explain to me what’s going on.”
“No need. He didn't even have the courage to look me straight in the eyes when he dismissed me. He's a coward, you understand? A real coward.” Liv screams as tears stream down her eyes.
Aurora hugs her and Liv lets go. She is in so much pain because for a moment she believed that she had already forgotten her past demons and that thanks to her work, she was the happiest but it was nonsense just thinking about this man calms her down a little and she really wants to go back to where she met him. She abruptly detaches herself from his arms and stands up, wiping her tears.
“I’m going to go now.”
“I’m coming with you, Liv.”
"You won't be of any use to me so stay here and look for some holy water because it will be useful for tonight in case my grandfather's ghost comes back."
Aurora still has things to tell him but she doesn't have time. She goes out and takes her car which soon she will no longer use because she will no longer have the means to take care of herself. She drives at breakneck speed and even death no longer scares her at this point. When she gets closer to this place, she feels like new feelings invade her; Fear, dismay, an inexplicable fear... When she parks in the same place where she had braked the day before, the scene that had occurred replays in her head with the same feelings as if it was happening at the same moment. She closes her eyes and when she opens them, she lets a cry of fear escape her lips.
A man is leaning against his door and his gaze is dangerous. He gives off something that warns her. Her eyes tend to change color and as much as she wants to believe it's in her head, it's real.
She opens her mouth several times to speak but nothing comes out. What the hell is happening to him?
"You... You..." is the only thing she could say when she saw the latter's psychopathic smile. He seems to take great pleasure in scaring her and if only she could do something to scare him too.
"It's dangerous for such a beautiful woman to hang around here because she could get eaten by giant dogs."
Giant dogs? She doesn't understand at all what he's saying and she doesn't see what's dangerous in the area, unless it's him.
“That… I… I…”
“Like wolves.” the latter cuts it off, drawing the same psychopathic smile on his lips.
She wants him to disappear and even though she has never made a wish in her life, she wants to try so she closes her eyes and when she opens them, she no longer sees him. She gets out of the car even knowing she's taking too big a risk. She doesn't see him but decides to take his advice seriously. The best thing is for her to go from there. She thought she had the chance to meet the one from the day before.
