My heart raced as she looked up atme. I felt a shift and saw her gasp. I turn away trying to regain control. I wish that she would stop looking at me likethat. I hear her heart rate increase and her breathing catch. Goddess help me.The sunrise placed early morning stars in her eyes. It was allowing her to lookright through me. She looks away, so I just keep her hand intertwined withmine, walking up to the house. So stupid, I am such a coward. Why is this sohard, she is so perfect it hurts. I look over at her as we walk, her hairfalling in ringlets around her face, framing the beauty of her hazel eyes intheir tiredness. I am such a coward. Why she is so beautiful. My mind raceswith thoughts. She couldn’t have been ugly or at least mean, or rude so thatI’d want to it. I honestly think they are trying to punish me and not give me agift. Why her? Why would they have donethis to her just to rip it away and force her into the fold anyway. Even withthe sleepless gaze in her eyes, and her hair tousled and matted she is still avision of pure untouched beauty. The sunfilled the living room with its light as we walked in the house.
“I am going to take a shower andget dressed for bed. You can take a shower in the guest room, if you want andput some of my clothes on until we go to your place later.” She nodded, and wewent upstairs to shower. Once I was in my room, grabbing my clothes and settingthem on the sink, starting the shower.
“Knock, knock. Can I come in?”Crap. You would choose now of all times to be faster than me at something.“Knock, knock, come on hurry up, I am cold your air is on really high. Let mein please. I’ll even close my eyes.” She giggled. Her impatient fingers tappedalone the trim of the door. Goddess this girl it trying to kill me.
“Hold on…Hold on. Why is it when wehave plans to do something you are a freaking slower than a snail but for somereason today you are quick as a whip? Huh?” I struggle to get the towel wrappedtightly around my waist. “Okay you can come in.” The door creaks open and sheis wrapped in a towel. Her hair is wet and twirling around her face. Her skinglistening in the light from the window. The way the sun hits the glass scattering the rays of light, showcasingthe sun kissed color of her skin.
“Sorry but you got in the showerbefore I could ask. But I need something to wear that doesn’t smell like stalebeer and sweat.” She giggled her lovablegiggle.
“Oh…yeah, sorry. Ha-ha. You knowyou could have raided my closet or the dressers, right?” I smirked damn near sprinting to my closetgrabbing a t-shirt and a pair of old sweat pants. “Here you are the shirt isnew, but the pants are old and too small for me, so they should fit you.”
“Thank you. But disrupting you isthe highlight of my day.” She chuckled while grabbing the t-shirt and puttingit on over her head and sitting on my bed putting the jeans on. “Can I barrow abrush?”
“Yeah, second container on theright, behind the door.” She turns around and goes into the bathroom as I getdressed and walk into the bathroom.
“Thank you.” She whips the brush through her hair andplaces it back in the box. She grabs thespare tooth brush from the glass, squirts some toothpaste on the bristles andstarts scraping at her teeth.
“What? Are the bacteria concretedto your teeth, so you have to scrap it off with my tooth brush? That lookspainful.”
“Smartass, of all things to pick ontoday.” She laughed, still running the brush against the inside of her cheek.“I am just very picky when it comes to cleaning my teeth.” Being next to herlike this feels so normal it hurts. I can barely take it. The urge to sweep herhair out of her face is strong. I would give anything to stay here in thismoment with her forever. I chuckled and ran out and pounce on the bed. She shortlyfollowed when she was done. She lay on the bed next to me a sleepy smilestretched across her face as she lay her head against my pillow.
I lay next to her and cover herwith the blankets. I lay back staring up at the ceiling. Her breathing regulates, and she turns putting her head on my chest.
“You know you could just stay here…withme until the twins comes back.” She smiled.
“You mean if they come back. Yoursweet but you don’t want me here all the time.” Her smile faded, her voicedrifted off as she slept. I just wish that she would realize how much of a liethat was. I wish that she would just stay here…. I could feel my eyelidsgetting heavy, each time I blinked it became harder to open them. She will see…Iwish that she had a clue.
