Chapter 5

1309 Words
Author's POV The weight of betrayal lingered in the air. Alpha Gerald approached the lady, trying to understand what this new revelation entailed. “What do you mean by their bond being forged?” “Sabrina and Alpha Malachi are simply attempting to be close to you because of what they will gain: power, celebrity, fortune, and resources. They want their daughter married to your son out of greed. Sabrina cast a spell on Hilary, making your sons believe she is their mate." Agnes continued, her voice filled with conviction. “That's a lie!” Sabrina yelled from the crowd. “Silent!! Let me hear from her!” Alpha Gerald bawled, turning to face her with a stern look. Sabrina's blood went cold and she recoiled, her heart thudding frantically against her ribcage. “Continue…” Alpha Gerald permitted. "When Sabrina first came to the pack to share their news about Hilary being your son's mate, I had a sense it was a forgery, but I had no evidence to divulge or refute it. I learned about her plans with Alpha Malachi. Their aim was to marry their daughter to your sons, grow close to you, and seize all of your wealth when you were killed. They also seek to rule your pack and take control with their own members." “What!” Alpha Gerald exclaimed, his eyes flashing with rage and disbelief. “I'm not done, your highness. There is still more they did.. more evil that needs to be exposed.” “Your daughter, the late princess Bethany, died because of them…” Agnes's words struck everyone's heart and a loud gasp followed from the audience. Tension Lingered in the air and the silence in the house was oppressive, thick and stifling as If the walls themselves were holding their breath, waiting for something to break. “You killed my daughter?!!” Alpha Gerald growled, anger flaring in his voice as he directed his gaze at Alpha Malachi and Sabrina. They both shuddered, their lips remained sealed, betraying their lack of defense. "It turns out Lady Bethany learned about their horrible activities. She was going to tell you when they killed her that rainy night after the party. They sent men to attack her. Amanda witnessed the crime and was about to report when Sabrina apprehended her. She slapped her hard in the face. And because she knew Amanda was your sons' true mate, she attempted to kill her but was unable to do so because she was running out of time and the function was about to end. “Instead of killing Amanda, she strangled her, made her weak and dipped Bethany's blood on her fingers. She also dipped a knife in blood and forced it into Amanda's grip, making it look as though she's Brittany's murderer. All these while, Amanda had no clue who she was because her face was covered in a mask. Poor Amanda was charged with a crime she never committed.” Agnes disclosed, her voice broken and filled with rage. “I have all the proof here!” She announced, bringing out a crystal from her tout bag. The clip of the whole incident appeared on the crystal, and everybody watched with shock on their faces. “I saw everything that happened that night. I was about to fight for Amanda but one of the men attacked me. He injected me, making it difficult for me to use my powers against him. After injecting me, Alpha Malachi ordered that they tie me up and beat me to death. They drove me away from the pack to a secluded area where they beat me and slit my throat with a knife so I wouldn't be alive to reveal the entire truth! Luckily I survived and I guess it's the will of the Moon goddess. She made me alive so I can reveal how dangerous these people are..” Alpha Gerald growled, his voice echoing in the hall, and his gaze burned with unrestrained fury. He Clenched and his knuckles turned white with his face turning a deep shade of red. “How dare you do this to me! After all my trust in you, Alpha Malachi!” He growled, his voice sharp with rage, cutting through the heavy silence that now filled the space between them. Alpha Malachi shuddered, it felt as though beneath him had shifted, leaving him unsteady.. His face turned pale and his hands twisted nervously. “How dare you kill my daughter! What have I done to you to deserve this!!” Alpha Gerald bristled, his eyes flashing with frustration. “Alpha Gerald. There is something important you need to know…” Agnes said, grabbing his attention. “What is it?” He asked curiously. “Amanda is your sons’ fated mate. If she doesn't accept them as her mate…… I'm sorry but they will both die.” Alpha Gerald's eyes sprang wide, a knot forming in his stomach with his heart shattering into a bazillion pieces. "You heard me correctly, Alpha Gerald. Amanda's bond with your sons will serve to strengthen the pack and defeat all forms of evil against them. But because you all failed to listen to her, you were so consumed by wrath that you believed she would do such a thing to your own daughter. You enslaved her, and your sons exploited her for sex." Agnes spoke and hesitated, tears welling in her eyes. “That girl was an orphan; she trusted you and was overjoyed to finally have a home after being homeless for years. Well, I know she was the only one around your murdered daughter, thus all evidence points to her as the murderer. Apologize to her for everything you've done. And as for your sons, I don't know what will befall them if she rejects them.” Alphe Gerald knees buckled to the ground and he ruffled his hair, his face flushed with conflicted emotions. His chest was heavy with rage, guilt and grief. His wife, Luna Guinevere, wailed beside him, her face reddened like tomatoes. Jared and Jayden were broken at what they heard..the weight of guilt hung heavily on their shoulders. Raising his head, Alpha Gerald asked, his voice trembling, “What if she rejects both of them?” “Then they both die. And that will be the start of your downfall, Alpha Gerald. Didn't you understand that since that little girl entered your life, you've been experiencing great things, wonders, and success in every area? Although her time here was a blessing, the majority of your pack members despised her because she was a rogue. And just when you feared she had murdered your kid, you put her behind bars. Just be glad you didn't kill her; if you had, your sons would have been dead by now.” Agnes said, her words light yet heavy enough to crush them. “Where's Amanda?” Guinevere asked her husband in a trembling voice. “I'll tell the guards to release her from the cell.”. Gerald said, dabbing at his tears with his handkerchief. The guards followed the Alpha's orders and hurried out of the hall with the intention of bringing Amanda out of the cell. They returned after a while. Everyone's brows furrowed and confusion plastered their faces when they noticed that Amanda wasn't with them. “Where is she?” Alpha Gerald asked curiously, his brows raising. “I'm sorry your highness but I think she's escaped. I couldn't see any signs of her in the cell.” Everyone's eyes widened as those words rolled off his tongue. Tension loomed heavily in the air like fogs and the color on Alpha Gerald's face drained off. The small relief he clung onto dissipated in the thin air, leaving him with a fog of doom.
