NOT MARRYING HIM.
Thea's POV.
"Father, No, I am not going to get married to that monster. It's impossible." I saw my elder sister, Bianca, yelling at our father as I walked into his office to discuss my birthday plans.
"What is going on here?" I demanded to know as I folded my hands across my chest.
It wasn't exactly rare to see Bianca and my dad yelling at one another, but I still wanted to know what the problem was, again.
"Shut your mouth, Thea. It's none of your business," Bianca turned to snap at me and I sighed.
"Don't talk to your baby sister in such a manner, Bianca." My dad cautioned and she scoffed.
"Seriously Dad? Baby sister? Hell no. Yes, we might be related because of you, but there is no way in hell I would ever accept her as my baby sister," Bianca said, and I felt my heart tighten in my chest.
"It had barely been even 3 months since my mother died, saving your ass when you took in another wife and had her give birth to this little thing for you." Bianca pointed at me as she wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"How about you allow her to marry him instead? She would be a perfect fit," Bianca muttered as a dark glint flashed in her eyes, one that sent shivers down my spine.
'Okay. What was going on here? Marry who?' I pondered, lost in thoughts.
"No. Thea is too young for him, Bianca. She is just going to be 19 in a few days. You, on the other hand, are 25 years old, more mature and definitely suitable to be his Mafia Queen," my dad told her.
"I am not marrying him Dad. I am not marrying Mikhail." Bianca refused yet again and I froze.
Mikhail? As in Mikhail Volkov, the same terrifying, cold-blooded, Russian, leader of the largest Mafia syndicate in the world?
No! It couldn't be him. Last I heard about him was that he had gotten married not too long after taking over his father's reign, so how can Dad be asking Bianca to marry him?
Besides, I have also heard rumors of how deeply he loves his wife, about how he doesn't joke with her.
"You don't have a choice, Bianca. You will marry Mikhail Volkov. His father demanded this marriage, especially since his wife had just passed away. Their Mafia syndicate can't be without a Queen, anymore." Dad gave a response to all the questions in my mind and I gasped.
Oh my God! It is him.
"Damn! How come?" I blurted out before I could stop myself.
"Once again, no one called you into this conversation, Thea, so leave." Bianca yelled at me, her blue eyes darkening.
"Please stop speaking to me like that," I told her, tired of her attitude and disrespect.
I hated it.
"Or what?" she laughed as she shoved me with both hands, hard, coming even closer
as I reared backwards, almost tripping to the ground if not that I managed to stabilize myself in time.
"Biancaaa!" My father screamed, his features tightening.
"If you touch your sister one more time, I would have you punished severely." he threatened and Bianca scowled.
"Dad is always coming to your rescue, you little b***h. Dare to butt into my matters again and I will tear you apart." she hissed before turning to storm out of Dad's study, banging the door so aggressively that it almost tore off its hinges.
I stood in the room, holding my breath as I looked at Dad.
"Would she ever stop hating me?" I whispered, despising how we always had to be at loggerheads almost every day.
We were a family, fully related or not and I wanted peace but that seemed to be impossible, with my mafia bloodline, though not deeply and an Elder sister, who sees me as the mistake in her life.
"Thea...." my dad drawled, letting the silence speak the answer.
Bianca and I were always going to be on the opposite side of one another.
An hour later, I decided to go visit my boyfriend, the secret lover I had managed to hide, a privacy I had somehow gotten to keep despite my family's protectiveness.
"Thea. No, you know your father would murder me if he knew how you have always been sneaking off to meet this Dude. I even still wonder everyday how you managed to convince me to help you with this s**t every week." My driver and most trusted bodyguard, Vincent, groaned as he started the car to drive out of the mansion.
He was a bit into his thirties and I appreciated him more than anything.
I had lied to my parents that I was going to the mall and my dad, as usual, had given me his black card to use as I wanted.
'I had no need for it but my boyfriend, Bryan, would.' Just the thought of him made me smile, my heart racing as I knew that in the next few minutes, I would be in his arms, savouring his lovely kisses.
"Vincent. Please. They would never find out, I promise. Just drive over to his house immediately. I have gotten them to remove the car tracker, remember?"
"That's quite unwise if you ask me. What if you get in danger or worse, kidnapped?" he asked and I giggled.
"That's impossible, you know. I have you with me." I winked at him from the rear mirror and he just shook his head, sideways.
"Alright but you only have an hour max. You know your sister's wedding is coming up in a few days so the security around is top-notch since the Volkov would be coming over for the wedding. I am sure your parents would be wanting you home earlier too." Vincent told me and for some unknown reason, an ominous feeling brewed in the air as I trembled in my seat.
Why, though? I wasn't the one getting married.
Vincent arrived at Bryan's house in no time and I dashed out of the car, impatient to see my long-time crush and now boyfriend.
I knocked on the door gently, tapping my foot on the floor impatiently for him to open up and he did but.....
"Hello. Who are you?" A young lady that looked slightly older than me asked and my blood turned cold, not because of the question she was asking but because she was putting on one of Bryan's favorite T-shirts, one he had gotten with my Dad's credit card.
"I think I should be the one asking that. Who are you?" I narrowed my eyes at her, wondering what gave her such audacity to wear my Man's T-shirt.
"I am Bryan's Fiance." She replied, flashing me a diamond ring as my heart stopped. "And you are?"
