Alessia Mancini I burst into my room, my heart pounding, barely registering the shocked looks from Giovanni's men as I rushed past them wearing nothing but his shirt. The door slammed behind me with a force that rattled the frame, and suddenly, the tears I'd been fighting spilled over. My legs gave out, and I slid down the smooth wood, landing in a crumpled heap on the cold marble floor. The sobs came unbidden, wracking my body as I hugged my knees to my chest. The crisp scent of Giovanni's cologne still clung to his shirt, a bittersweet reminder of the intimacy we'd shared just moments ago. Now it felt suffocating.
