Giovanni Moretti I loosened my tie as I strode into my office, the weight of the morning's tension settling heavy on my shoulders. The leather creaked as I sank into my chair, my eyes drawn to the harbor visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Sleek yachts bobbed on the glittering water, a deceptively peaceful scene. With a sigh, I turned to my computer and pulled up the encrypted files for our next arms shipment. The familiar rhythms of logistics and coded communications should have been soothing, but my mind kept drifting to Alessia. The hurt in her eyes last night haunted me. "Dannazione," I muttered, pinching the bridge of my nose. I wanted nothing more than to go to her, to explain, to make things right. But I knew better. Pushing her now would only drive her further away. M
