Celestial Anomaly
There was a siren blaring somewhere far away.
Suddenly, she became aware of everything around her, even the rocks on the surface that were pricking against her skin and how her whole body ached. She could also hear two men conversing by her side.
"We have hit a jackpot! There is no way Sylus would reject her, I mean... look at that body!" One of them exclaimed.
Before the girl on the ground could react to the concerned comment on her body, the familiar name alerted her foggy mind- Sylus.
Though she was unable to put the pieces together yet, one thing was certain- she was a great danger, and she must escape. Hence, she mustered up the strength to lift her heavy eyelids. What was before she made her stomach drop.
She was definitely not imagining the two men from before or the rocky surface. She was in the middle of nowhere, where there was no building or even a human from as far as the eye could see.
What was happening?
She was absolutely baffled. The last thing she remembered was being in her bedroom playing one of her favourite games, Love and Deepspace. But when and how she got here was beyond her comprehension.
"You are awake already..." A groan came from the other man. He was clearly not happy seeing the girl on the floor regain concious. He began to step closer to her, and she immediately began to panic.
She must get out of there. Hence, she began to struggle. Groaning and wincing, she fought against the excruciating pain in her body to lift her body, but she did not dare to look at the mysterious man.
Perhaps this amused him, and so, he chuckled as he knelt before her. His rough fingers glided against her jaw before grasping her chin.
"Look at me..." his growl made her jolt, but she still hesitated. To her surprise, his grip lightened, and his hand began caressing her neck, "Tell me..." he purred, "What is your name?"
"K-Kaia..." a hoarsed voice she recognised as her own barely came out. Her body trembled against his touch. He was barely touching her, but his fear had consumed her. She had no idea of his identity or his motives- which made him even more dangerous.
She slowly lifted her gaze to look at him. He was a young man in a fancy black suit and hair slicked back. His polished attire made her question his motives even more, so she scanned him more- hoping to find an answer. That is until her eyes landed on the brooch on his coat - it was a letter E.
Ever.
The thought passed Kaia's mind, but she immediately shook it off. Ever was a fictious organisation from a game shecplayed, the uncanny resemblence of its logo to the brooch must be a coincidence.
Her thoughts were caught short when an SUV made an entrance, again, coming from absolutely nowhere. Kaia was almost deafened by her heart thumping against her chest as she whipped jer head to its direction. She was unaware of what awaited her in that car. Will she be saved or have her destine ruined?
A tall figure stepped out of the car. A figure is too familiar to be true. As the man finally came into light, Kaia's eyes widened.
The man before her looked exactly like the character in the game. Before her was someone who shouldn't have really existed. Before her stood...Sylus.
What in the world was happening?
......
Everything fell into silence for Kaia. She stared at everything in disbelief, her mind failing to function as if a glitch had disrupted it.
However, it slowly began to work, and she took in her surroundings. This place was oddly familiar because she had seen this before. The same went for the Ever's logo and the man before her.
She could not deny it. Not even for once, that he was Sylus. He had the same broad build, silver hair, and red eyes.
Her hand lashed across her face, the sting confirming it was her own—but reality refused to shift. She was still there. And so was he.
But it had to be a dream - that was the only way she could retain her sanity.
Unlike Kaia, whose wide eyes continued to stare at Sylus, he did not even give her a slight glance. He was unbothered by her presence. In fact, he was annoyed. Was he called for this? And he thought that Ever might have something interesting to say.
A scoff escaped his lips as he swept his fingers against his silver locks, "You disappoint me once again..." he sighed dramatically, "I will still give you a chance. Tell me something amusing, and I might consider staying here for another second.."
The man with Ever's logo stared at the latter with a blank expression whilst his partner's legs quivered. However, Kaia was unsure if he feared Sylus or the other man.
"I apologise for our last transaction, Mr.Sylus..." the boss spoke as he strides to move closer to Kaia, "We had brought this poor girl to you, hoping you could assist her. Her story is awfully sad, you see - she was abandoned by her society and left before our office..." he leaned down to grab her arm.
The man was interrupted with another scoff, "I don't think that I have opened any charity business..."
Kaia felt the grip on her arm tightened but this man's face remained calm as ever, "Oh well then...I guess there is no other place for her other than Ever's laboratory.."
Kaia's body stiffened. Even if this was a dream, she would never want to go to Ever's laboratory. Her pleading gaze shifted to Sylus.
Save me.
If he was the same man that she knew from the game, she would be safe. Behind the bad boy farce, there lay a man with an empathetic heart and someone who valued justice. She might be of no value to him, but she hoped....she hoped that there was an ounce of humanity within him that could save her.
Just like her, the man beside her held the same hope as her, but he had malicious intentions that she feared. What could he possibly gain by handing her over to Sylus?
Meanwhile, the silver-haired man on the other side was pondering upon the offer. He had a long history with Ever; it was as if he knew their intentions beforehand, but this time, he was at a loss. He could not decipher their plan this time. His red orbs settled on the frail body on the floor. She didn’t seem like she could be a threat, and if anything, she was far more baffled than him. It was almost hilarious how her eyes would jump from him to the other, wishing to make any sense of the situation. Though awfully failing.
"Fine..." he announced, dragging the word as to declare how unbothered he was, "I will take her home, and what then?"
"Nothing.." The latter's grin grew as he quickly responded, "Let's just say. I owe you for this."
Kaia allowed herself to breathe again, her chest burning. But given the tension of the situation, she couldn’t breathe until Sylus announced his decision.
The Ever's employee let go of her arm and swiftly made his back to the car. It was odd - really odd. The deal made no sense to the other two, but here, Kaia was happy that Sylus chose her. She placed her bruised hands on the rocky ground to get the support to stand up. Her body was still shaking from before as she wobbled towards the tall one. Now that she stood beside him, his height was no joke.
She suddenly giggled. The same giggle from a fan girl who played the game religiously.
The red eyes snapped towards her, making her press her lips together awkwardly.
So..what now?
She thought, now feeling awkward. The situation wasn't very pleasant, to begin with, nor were they on friendly terms- scratch that - they were not even acquaintances.
"Let's go..." Sylus ordered as he moved towards his sleek car, and Kaia scurried after him. If she really is in the N1O9 Zone, then there was no place safer than next to him. Yet a thought struck her mind just then.
This better be just a dream.
