8 Edie groaned in her sleep and clutched her stomach. Holden watched her, feeling hopeless and unable to do anything. He hadn’t ever seen a person go through withdrawal before, but he knew it was a horrible experience, one made worse by the quantity of drugs they had been on. His guess was Edie was going to be miserable for a long time. “I wonder how she got here,” Mackenzie said. The question had been rolling around in Holden’s head since Edie showed up.
