7 Holden hung back while Mackenzie went through the fridge and the cabinets in the kitchen. There was always plenty of food there, but she apparently didn’t like the options. Mackenzie slammed a cabinet closed and leaned against the counter, her bandaged hands hovering over the surface. She drew in a slow, deep breath, then blew it out again. She did it twice more, then closed her eyes and did it a third time. “You can go out the front door and make it to the call center.
