KIDNAPPED
STAR PALACE
There was an event taking place at the Haldor's residence. She didn't really care to attend, considering that it didn't cater to her needs as a caterer, or maybe it did. She was going mainly because she had married the Haldor's son and her father-in-law had insisted that she attended.
She didn't need to go shopping, she had a closet filled with dinner gowns yet to be worn. She just had to choose one.
Tristan, her husband had suggested going to shop with her as a way of bonding, but she'd turned it down, because she knew he just thought of that to get her off his back about Natalie.
It was few minutes to 4pm. She decided to start getting ready for the event. Tristan's dad had insisted she come an hour earlier. She had her bath and did a simple make up, then put on her clothes.
Skye walked down the stairs, dressed elegantly.
She had a long silver gown on, made with beautiful silver stones and a black stilettos. Her black purse was held firmly in her beautiful tender hands. She had a little make up on and her hair was packed up in a ponytail. She of course, had jewelries on and her wedding ring stood out on her left ring finger.
"You look great" Tristan complimented as Skye walked towards the sitting room. He was dressed in a black tuxedo and his hair was neatly combed in his normal fashion. He brought out his hand and she took it as they walked towards the car. Jerry was already waiting beside the car and he opened the door for the couple before walking towards the driver seat.
She yearned for conversations with her husband. Reasonable and heartfelt conversations. There weren't forthcoming though. It was like a bridge or a wedge had been driven between them. She couldn't get through to him and he didn't really care.
No, he didn't. Not now that he was anticipating the meeting he and Natalie had planned.
He found it difficult to sit still as he normally would. This didn't go unnoticed by Skye. She felt the dull ache in her chest and let it flow through her body and fade away. It was a familiar feeling. She had gotten used to it. She learnt to adapt to it and embrace it as it came. Otherwise, she'd be doing herself more harm than good.
HALDOR DESIGNS
The grand hall of the big company was well decorated with lots of flowers and different pictures of clothing designs. There were large posters of models across the room. Staff from the planning department were running around ensuring to put things in order, arranging one thing or the other. Few of the invitees were already present and the waiters did their best to serve them wine.
The chairman was already in, and was looking through the accounts in his office with the help of his Butler, Steve. Two Body guards were outside the office. He didn't trust that everyone present at the event was there because they genuinely wanted to be there.
Skye looked at the man she called her husband and turned away then exhaled. She was already tired and the night hasn't even started. She hoped she would be able to hide away after greeting the Chairman.
She looked up as their vehicle moved through the gate and up to the front door. She did a breathing exercise and waited for it to stop moving.
Outside, a few photographers were there ready to take pictures of any one walking down the red carpet. Soon, Jerry pulled over in front of the red carpet and the couple stepped down, hand in hand as they walked down the red carpet. The photographers immediately started taking pictures and Skye didn't fail to give them hot poses.
"You made it" Mr Haldor said walking towards his son and daughter in-law with butler Steve trailing behind.
"Of course, father"Skye said and the man smiled while nodding, then faced his son.
"Mr Weslie will arrive soon, do well to receive him" the man said and turned to look at Skye again. He was fond of her. What was there not to like about her? She was the perfect daughter in-law. He walked away with Steve afterwards.
Skye faced Tristan. "Will Natalie come too?"
"Wes Group was invited, Fenella will come too"he said
"That wasn't the question. We both know Natalie never really liked such events but it's surprising how she started attending every one of it when you became CEO"
She didn't expect him to answer directly. She also wondered why he was dodging the question. It was obvious what was happening between them, at least to her.
"Are you saying she attends because of me? Are we still on this Natalie subject?"Tristan asked, getting angry and Skye felt bad instantly.
"I'll use the restroom"she said and walked away.
Immediately she left, Tristan got out his phone to text Natalie.
"I'm here, are you?"
He got a reply back, "yes dear".
Skye got to a unit in the bathroom and locked herself in. After doing her business, she came back out and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked beautiful as always. She would glow more if she was happier than she was right now. She just knew it. But, that wasn't going to happen now, was it? And not with someone like Tristan who didn't care a little bit about her. The only time he would care was if he was going to get some sort of pay back in return.
Two ladies walked in and smiled when they saw her. They worked at the office. She returned the rrrrrrrrrrr. smile and left the bathroom.
Immediately she got outside, she overhead them talking. They talked about how much they felt pity for her knowing that her husband and Natalie had been using the meetings the two companies usually had as an excuse to meet up constantly.
She felt the familiar hurtful feeling and let it pass through her body too.
6:00 pm
The party had already begun, there were different wealthy business men and women. Each of them had their own clothing line, design company or were just starting a career in the fashion world. Either way, the party was open to anyone who was ready to go into the fashion business. There was even a section for high schoolers who wanted to take a look at the designs and become a fashion designer. Drinks and food were shared as everyone interacted with each other, talking about clothes and designs and the latest gossip in the fashion world.
Skye was at a corner, she was already exhausted with the event. This wasn't her line of business, she and her mom owned a really big catering school and everyone knows how famous the school was. This didn't stop people from knowing who she was. This would have been a great opportunity to talk to possible clients about her school, but the events that happened prior to this moment have been draining.
She's only here because her father in-law made it a must to attend. Her friend, Fenella was also in the fashion business so, she was out there with others talking about designs and couldn't keep her company. Tristan was also moving around with his dad, mom and Mr Wesley as they discussed with other business men and women.
Natalie was at a corner, occasionally stealing glances at Tristan and checking the time. Natalie was Tristan's ex and Skye could tell that Natalie still love her husband. The reason why the two broke up, no one knows. Lately, Skye could tell that something was off with Tristan. He couldn't care less about her anymore and he was always at Wes Group for one meeting or the other.
She somehow felt like he was always there because of his ex and even if she sounded like an overly jealous and insecure wife, she couldn't care because she knew her instincts never failed her. Skye looked at Natalie before going over to meet her.
"Look who's here? What's a caterer doing at a party for fashion designers?"Natalie said and Skye smiled.
"Last time I checked, you hated such events"
"And last time I checked, my dad's company was invited"
"And last time I checked, my father in-law hosted this party and as Tristan's wife, I need to grace the event." Skye said and walked away, leaving Natalie who was fuming in anger.
Natalie packed her long gown in her hand as she walked out of the hall.
Skye smiled when she saw her leave but the smile faded away when she noticed Tristan leave in the direction of Natalie. Skye followed him out but didn't see either of them when she got out. She wondered where they had both gone to while looking around.
The only thing she remembered was getting hit from behind and she blacked out. It was as if the kidnappers were waiting for her to step out of the hall.
