His phone rang instantly, and I felt so relieved. I don’t know why I felt that way, but I was glad someone called him. The atmosphere was already intense. I needed something to change the mood, and then came the phone call.
Whoever called was my lifesaver.
“I’ll be there in a minute,” Zane said to whoever was calling.
I stared at him. “Is everything okay?”
He nodded. “Yeah, it’s pack duty. So I should expect you tonight, right?”
I didn’t want to disappoint him for the second time, so I nodded my head. “Sure.”
He grinned. “That’s settled then.”
We walked out of the old library. My heart kept racing until we finally got outside. Zane is such a charming soul and doesn’t deserve all of this.
I’ll see to it that I fulfill his wish of having me in his room tonight.
