•. She said, “So why do you want to talk about yesterday murder?”
• I said, “Just curious. It happened near my apartment.” She said, “We don’t have any lead yet. And there is no clear witness to it.” I asked, “What do you mean by no clear witness?”
• She answered, “There was a little boy who says he saw a girl coming in the victim’s apartment in the evening. But he is not sure if he really she someone or not. Because he had just woke up from his sleep.”
• She added, “It might be his illusion. I mean a woman serial killer. Come on, the happening of that is 1 in 10,000 people in our country.”
• I asked, “So wait, why did you say serial killer? I mean technically serial killer are those who murders three or more people, usually taking place over more than a month.
• And this murders happen, in like what 2 years killing 2 people?”
• She looked surprised and said, “Wow! You know a lot about it. You are really interested in this case, aren’t you?”
• I feel embarrassed as she always used to tease me saying you will be a serial killer in future.
• I smiled before saying, “Come on, you know me. I was always interested in those stuff. Don’t you remember?” I laughed.
• She also laughed and said, “Yes, yes I remember. How could I forget?”
• “You would search all the stories about serial killers all day when you were with me. And you also made me watch the documentaries,” she smiled looking at a distant like she was getting lost in the memories.
• “So you were saying?” I asked her to bring her back from the past.
• “Oh, right. Yes, the person is a serial killer because of the pattern of killings. And I think I remember same pattern like that before but I don’t remember which one and where.”
• She was thinking so hard to remember and suddenly she said, “The killings are linked with that happened 10 years ago in your house to your father.”
• Before she could say more, she stopped herself. I don’t understand what she was saying.
• “What? What do you mean?” I questioned her.
• “No, nothing. Forget it”, she said instantly.
• “Gina, please tell me what were you talking about?” “Did you mean that my father is dead?” I questioned her in disbelief.
• “How could you say something like that, my father is still alive.” I yelled at her grabbing attention from the tables near us.
• She said calmly, “Don’t you remember? Your father was murdered 10 years ago.”
• “What???” I couldn’t think properly. I was hyperventilation. What is she talking about? Is she insane?
• “How could my father died? I just spoke to him 1 week ago.” I yelled at her.
• She looked surprised like genuinely surprised. She said, “Then show me your call log.”
• I give her my cell phone. She goes through my call logs and shows it back to me and said “Look, you haven’t talked to your mom for almost 9 years. There is no call logs in your phone of your mother or father or even your sister.”
• I didn’t believe her. I snatched my phone from her and look it myself. She was right. I had only two different call logs, one from Gina and another was an unknown number whom I called like too many times.
• But why didn’t I saved that number? I said to her, “Look at this number. I have called in it several times. But I haven’t saved it in my contacts.”
• “Give me that. I will call the number and find out whose number is that.” She said and took my phone.
• She ringed the number and someone picked it up. It was a guy. I recognized the voice immediately. “It’s my boyfriend”, I said.
• Gina looked at me with a surprised look. “Hello! Where are you? Do you met with your old friend? Is she a girl or a boy? I am so glad you called me. I was waiting.” He was talking and talking and not stopping to hear if I was talking or not.
• “Hello! Hello, wait for a minute. Stop talking Niraj.” I yelled at him. “Just wait for me to talk okay. I want to ask you something.”
• “Sorry baby. Yeah, ask anything you like. I am all yours”, he said in a notorious, romantic way.
• I smiled stupidly looking at my friend who was teasing me with a devilish smile. I was controlling myself as I was about to ask a big question.
• “Did you know that my father is dead and that he was murdered?” I asked him in one breath.
• He pause for a moment and replied, “Yes I know. You told me like 9 or 10 years ago.”
• I couldn’t breath. I was sweating a lot and I was holding onto my phone too tightly.
• Gina came near me and started wiping my tears which I didn’t even realized was falling.
• “Hello , hello! Are you still there? Did you forget about your dad’s death again?” Niraj asked.
• Gina and I looked at each other astonishingly. This time she talked for the first time since we called him. “So she forget about him before as well?”
• “Who is this?” My boyfriend asked suspiciously.
• “I am her friend, Gina.” Gina said.
• “Babe, you are still with her?” He asked me.
• “Yeah, please te…tell me did I forget about my own da…dad before as well?” I said between my sobbing.
• He said, “Yes you have Amnesia. You forgot the incident of your dad's death and you don't remember the last 10 years. But when I remind you, you almost remember everything except the murder. And sometimes, you forget what you did yesterday or in the morning. I remember you forget who I was even when I was with you in your bed for the whole day and night.”
• “Ok, I will talk to you later, bye.” I was about to hang up when he says, “Babe, I am here for you if you need anything okay.”
• “Okay, thank you.” I said and hang up the call not before hearing “I love you baby” from him.
• I had a lot of questions to ask him. But I will do it later. Right now, I really need to ask Gina about the murder now that it is related to my dad’s murder.
• “Gina, how much do you know about my dad’s murder?” I asked her.
• She said, “Not much. But I will find more about it as it is now connected to those two murders . And I think we will get some lead this time. I am hopeful about it.”
• “So, we will meet again, right?” I asked.
• She said, “Of course, we got a lot to discuss after.”
