Chapter 1: The Mission
She was meant to kill him. He was meant to destroy her. Instead, they became each other’s obsession.
Damien Moretti. A name whispered in the shadows. The most feared and ruthless mafia king, ruling the underworld with an iron fist. Many socialites craved his attention, but just as many feared him.
Addie Sterling, otherwise known as Vynxx—a spy and assassin. She was ruthless, cruel, beautiful, and deadly, like a sweet little kitten with hidden claws. She was the perfect weapon ever made: trained to obey, built to kill, and never taught to hesitate.
Now, her mission is simple: kill Damien Moretti.
But what happens when the target becomes more than just a target?
Will Addie complete her mission… or will one unexpected twist turn the hunter into the hunted?
Present Day
“Your target is Damien Moretti.”
Addie Sterling stared at the photograph on the table, her expression unreadable.
“That’s him?”
“Yes.”
She picked up the photograph and studied it for a moment.
“Location?”
“New York. He rarely stays in one place for long.”
“Security?”
“Ridiculous.”
A faint smirk tugged at Addie’s lips. “Good.”
The man sitting across from her narrowed his eyes. “Don’t underestimate him, Vynxx.”
“I never do.”
“He isn’t like the others.”
Addie placed the photograph back on the table. “Everyone says that about their favorite target.”
“This isn't a joke.”
“I know.”
Silence filled the room.
The man slid a black folder toward her.
“Everything you need is in there. His businesses, associates, routines, properties… everything we've managed to uncover.”
Addie opened the folder.
Her eyes scanned the pages quickly.
“What's the deadline?”
“Seven days.”
She looked up.
“Seven?”
“You have one week.”
Addie closed the folder.
“And if I fail?”
The man's expression hardened.
“You won't get a second chance.”
She stood, taking the folder with her.
“Then I won't fail.”
She reached the door.
“Vynxx.”
Addie stopped but didn't turn around.
“Whatever happens, don't let him get close to you.”
For the first time, her expression changed.
A small, amused smile appeared.
“Don't worry.”
She glanced over her shoulder.
“I'm the one getting close to him.”
Then she walked out.
Neither of them knew that this mission wouldn't end with Damien Moretti's death.
It would begin something far more dangerous.
