Sarah saw the cord, glowing and pulsing with energy. She reached out with her mind and wrapped her fingers around it, feeling the power thrumming beneath her touch. It was intoxicating, and she felt a wave of exhilaration wash over her.
"Now, I want you to focus on the bird and direct it to fly around the room," the woman said. "Use the cord to guide it, and let it move where you want it to."
As the bird circled the room, flapping its wings and soaring through the air, the woman spoke again. "Your power is growing, and you will soon be ready to meet the Mafia. But first, you must understand that with great power comes great responsibility. Are you ready for that?"
Sophia hesitated, but then she nodded. The bird landed gently on her hand, its golden feathers soft against her skin. She looked into its eyes, and she could see a reflection of herself, strong and powerful.
"Then it is time," the woman said.
The room around her began to fade, replaced by a new setting. This time, she was standing in a dark, imposing mansion. The walls were made of cold stone, and the air was thick with tension. She could hear the sound of footsteps echoing through the halls, and the smell of cigar smoke lingered in the air.
She turned and saw a man standing in the doorway, his face hidden in shadow. He was tall and broad-shouldered, and he exuded an aura of power and danger.
"Welcome, Ms. Jones," the man said. "I am the head of the Russo family, and I am pleased to make your acquaintance."
He stepped forward, his face still in shadow, and extended a hand.
"It is a pleasure to meet you," Ms. Jones said, taking his hand. His grip was firm and confident, and she could feel the strength in his fingers.
"I am pleased to hear that," he said.
"I understand that you are a woman of great intelligence and resourcefulness," the man continued. "I have heard of your reputation, and I am impressed. I believe that you have the potential to be a valuable asset to my organization."
Ms. Jones was taken aback by his words. She had never thought of herself as being particularly intelligent or resourceful, but she was curious to hear more about what he had to say.
"What kind of asset are you looking for?" she asked.
"One who can think outside the box," he said. "One who can solve problems in unexpected ways.
